From watching the videos, he is great at rallying a HUGE # of people to perform a single task (and verbally beat them up if they even run slower than he prefers).

Since #s matter alot in this game, and organization is a force multiplier, this makes Buzz one of the most powerful individuals on that server.

But he doesn't seem to be the most dangerous person to bump into - think the old Hostile Takeover people wins that award (both in PS1 and PS2)

Even if they gave out SC for continent captures, I'd still rather not have received any courtesy of Buzz, the drama after any success or failure just isn't worth it...

And I didn't even play on the same server...

I strongly suspect you're trolling, as this is one hell of an accusation you're making. However, if true, this would represent not only an insidious threat to the community but also a significant PR blunder on behalf of SOE. Anything more solid than waybackmachine? Not saying you're lying, but I'd like something more tangible before I fly off the panhandle.

I watched Buzz's stream a lot. My work hours change daily, so sometimes I work days, sometimes nights. If Buzz was playing, he was almost always streaming, and he talked to those of us watching his stream, answered a lot of the questions I asked in stream chat. So I know it was him playing his account.

As for best player, I wouldn't go that far. Certainly one of the best, but I feel there are players who are better. Buzz played with TE during their ops hours, but after ops or during the day he usually played solo. Also went through a phase where he joined pubbie squads, which was funny as hell. Seeing 11 random guys suddenly realizing the number 1 ranked player was in their squad was great. When he played solo, he didn't have the backup he did during ops, so it was all him. He actually did better playing solo than he did with TE. He died more of course, without 30 medics around. But he also got far more kills.

I know he did a TON of Lib farming early on, and plenty of HE Prowler farming as well. But he did do plenty of solo infantry playing, auraxium on pretty much every TR gun there was at the time. He had some nasty views on all sorts of things, but when it came to PS2 he really posted some very good threads on things that mattered, and usually did it without throwing faction bias into it.

Which I think brings it back to what someone said earlier. What is the definition of best player. Someone with the highest KDR or SPM, someone who always achieves the team objective, someone who can always win the battle, someone who can organise a team to be the most effective etc.? What I really think this comes down to is the current state of the game. There currently is very little metagame, no end point of the game, and no real purpose except to play it. Whatever someone considered being the best is simply personal perspective. Whatever metric you use to measure it is subjective. There is no best player (no matter how much SOE want this to be MLG), there is just the game.

I just want to say now I have nothing against the dude and I know there are many haters and adamant defenders. I feel my perspective to be rather neutral because I don't really know the guy or care to investigate him but I have heard of him and his success.

First of all let me get the obvious out of the way. The "BEST" of anything is merely opinion. There can never be a best or a worse because it all comes down to personal opinion. What factors or criteria a player requires to be the best will be slightly or vastly different depending on who you ask whether it be leaderboards, kills, K/D, accuracy, teamwork, attitude, or whatever.

With that said no I do not think he is the best because I do not believe there is such a thing beyond ones own opinion.

No doubt people will argue statistics and logic here all day long but in the end the only opinion that truly matters is your own.

yeah because his kpm and k/d went through the roof when he libbed from level 90-100 that the "cheat detector" that goes by stats went nuts and thought he was a cheater
he wasnt though and after looking at the data and his playstyle change (from normal to lib) soe decided the cheat detector was wrong

back in those early days of the ps2 cheat detector tons of people got banned for no reason at all
