Just want to get some insight from the veteran NC hesvies or anyone who has had experience with the warden. TR and vanu opinions on battle rifles as a whole would also be nice. Does the SAW really fill my requirement for a mid ramge weapon, and should i be using infy at the range a warden shoupd be used, or are they worth it?
This is just my play style, but I would go with the Warden. Because of my low FPS, I am awful at close range and tend to go long range instead. I am able to use it decently with the 4x scope (No sway is also a bonus). Also they were recently buffed to 600 m/s and along with HVA you have some pretty serious velocity (Longshot is 650 m/s, which is about that Warden w/ HVA). Also there is nothing like shooting down a Galaxy with a rocket launcher then immediately headshotting the pilot as he jumps out from 175+ meters.
I'm more of a EM6/jackhammer but if I had to choose I'd go for the SAW. If you play infiltrator allot I'd go warden on the HA with the 4x sight like what was said above. For all around protection where you might have someone get too close, saw. Its no CQC weapon but its better choice than the warden for CQC. To me, if ur considering a warden, you would be better off changing to a new class. +1 - GOD SAW for long range in long range.
OK...I like Battle Rifles alot. Most ppl just don't care for the Semi auto fire, but once you get used to it, its not so bad. I run mine with 6xScope and lazer for close encounters...if that happens. Alot of ppl may laugh at that load out, but I don't care. It works extremely well for my style.
Warden is better since they finally updated and buffed its velocity to 600, but I still dont think its to amazing.
In skilled hand Battle rifle will be really fun and effective. That being said, it costs mere 250 certs, in my opinion the price is low enough to risk and try it out.
Warden is great for engie, perfect support mid-range weapon. But HA is better fit with the Gauss SAW or JackHammer. On top of that Warden has been slightly buffed with latest patch. It's only 250 certs, so just buy it and try it yourself, you'll be always able to use it on your engie if you won't like it on your HA
Why would you use the 6x scope on it? You get scope sway for almost no real benefit because most battles don't even go that far out. Best to just use a 3.4x or 4x.
Also, another reason why I use this is that I have started playing Engi more often, so I don't have to learn to use two different weapons. Same weapon on HA and Engi.
I hate the battle rifle as it is ineffective at range and inferior to LMG close. There are some situations when it can be useful, but it is rare. If you can aim really well and can align headshots quickly at 70-100m, then it can be useful, otherwise just forget it.
Are... are you joking? No question, Godsaw all the way. I snipe at 250-300m with the godsaw on a 1x scope, when the enemy is basically just a pixel or two. At ANY range it hits for 165 damage, has the exact same muzzle velocity (and has HVA ammo too), is a solid choice for close quarters (not ideal, but worlds better than the Warden), single-shotting gives nearly perfect accuracy (only compensate for drop, which is identical to Warden's drop), and has 5x the ammo pool so you can keep the fire going. Admittedly you gain a 60 point increase in damage, but the losses elsewhere are not worth that meager gain. Get used to your Godsaw and it'll treat you right in any situation, unlike the Warden which lets you down a good bit of the time.
Stick with the Gauss SAW. The Battle Rifles only redeeming feature is that they're different from most other guns. But if it's an effective weapon you're after then you're better off looking elsewhere.
use it if it works for you. I like using the Warden if a lot of targets seems to be at long range...plus it's relatively cheap weapon to add to your options.
Short answer: if the expected engagement range is 0-100m, then SAW if it's 100-200m, then Warden if it's 200m+, then Infil In reality though it's much more complex than that. The SAW is the better choice within 125m or so if you have a clear shot at your target. However, the more cover he has, the more the situation starts to swing in the Warden's favor because it's better at tap-firing than the SAW. That's not to say you can't tap fire with the SAW. For an automatic weapon it's quite good at it. The Warden though is faster with followup shots. Since the OP is asking about mid-range though he'd probably be fine sticking w/ the SAW. As for switching to infil instead of using the Warden, that all depends on whether or not you're willing to give up your Overshield and all AV ability in exchange for a cloak. For me, the answer is usually no.
The Warden has its uses, but frankly none of the Semi-auto weapons excel at an area. Its effective range straddles the edge between auto fire and bolt actions, and is defeated by both at their respective applications. I think the devs are trying to avoid a situation like CoD, BF3, and few other games where the high damage of semi auto could effectively 2 shot their way through hoards of players.
