Just downloaded and started playing all last night. I'm hooked but am in dire need of guidance from some friendly and skilled people. Also played all last night as a infiltrator and found it to be the class I liked most, time and wisdom will tell. I will hop in the team speak server later this afternoon after I've gotten some sleep.
Well we have guidance and friendly / skilled people. I'd recommend putting up an application for the outfit, I think you'll be pleased with what you see.
here's our brand new 10 point PDF we're putting to use in the field for 'phase 2' of the sents at our 3 month mark. So far, early testing has gone well and we're hoping to have it in full effect and everyone is up to speed by the middle of february. SENTS 10 Point Plan
I've been playing with a group since beta and their numbers have seen a sharp decline since launch. With the unit's inability to field a squad at this time, I'm starting to look for other units to join. SENT is one of the units I am considering. Obviously you have certain membership requirements, but as a player, the fit has to work for me as well. Being an older professional with a family including small children, my play time tends to be most evenings for a few hours after the kids are off to bed. My wife, while a truly wonderful woman, finds video games to be at best a hobby. The family will always come first and that means a sudden AFK situation can arise from needing to retuck a child in or have an impromptu discussion on carpool arrangements because she's trying to make plans with a friend. When this occurs, saying "I'll be there after my next death" isn't going to work. I only mention these things as your 10 Point Plan and the ongoing quizzes seems to hint at a certain level of rigidness and inflexibility that can be found in some 'hardcore' organizations. There's nothing wrong with a 'hardcore' organization, if you fit into it. I'm concerned my need for some level of flexibility could exclude me. What are your requirements for playing with the unit? Most of the time, I'd want to play with the unit. But there are maybe two days a week where I know I'm going to be back and forth from the computer or catching up on a show/movie and know my attention isn't going to be 100%. I may want to just find a quiet sniping spot and sit. Or I may want to run around recently capped bases and repair. You claimed that your forums are set to open, but either that has changed or you don't have one dedicated to PS and the Other Games section has the most posts at 49. Knowing the size of SENT I'm guessing they are no longer open to the public. What would be the best means to play with you guys for a few evenings to feel out whether an application is warranted. I mean let's be honest, you may get the realization of how bad I am and just tell me that perhaps the minors are a better fit for my special skill sets.
ahh well we do have a welcome center which is open to anyone and has information on recruiting, rules and free candy. The main site is members only and that's been locked since beta I need to check that out to be sure it's not misleading. A great many of us are older gamers, I'm mid 40s with 3 kids and often drop what I'm doing to fetch my son from the police station or what have you at any given moment of the day so that's always understood. you can always swing by teamspeak and play, no obligation to buy whatsoever, we play most nights on the vanu-sov teamspeak alongside a dozen other vanu outfits over multiple servers. There's no mandatory 'you must play with us or ****' stuff happening here as anyone is free to play any way they want. However, if they are in a squad, they follow the squad leader. best of luck with your search, if not us, Quantum, Xen of Onslaught and Warrior Nation are great active clans to also play with, you should check them all out before choosing as you can't go wrong with any of them, or us. take care. kp
For 10 days (if i remember) I will post our 10 point plan to a more organized outfit here in our forums. It's the PDF available in the OP here and anyone from any faction is free to use it, like the primers, to help outfit unity and get people on the same page. Point 1. A Star to Guide You1 A Star To Guide You: Your Squad Leader will have a star next to his name. As a squad member your #1 job is to support the SL and be in visual range of him at all times unless assigned to a different job. When Bases are being capped. The SL of Alpha - Charlie will be the ‘babysitter’ of the points as they are being taken (see below for Delta). You will report to them for assignments at those cap points. A on Alpha, B on Bravo, etc. tomorrow... what temperature is it?
Played last night in your open group. Well organized. Enjoyed it. Was exactly what the doc ordered. Will do it again a couple more times. Might try one or two of your other suggestions just to feel it all out. Anyway, just wanted to give you a thumbs up.
Point 2. What Temperature is it?2 Hot / Warm / Cold: . When calling out targets you will do so from reference point of the Platoon waypoint if at a base or the vehicle you are in if on route. If you do not use the term friendly’ in front of gal or sundy it is assumed you are talking about an enemy one. tomorrow... running a red light... with class
Join us for Friday Night Ops this Friday (good day considering the name) the 22nd with our Allies in the VA for some no pants party fun in the sun on indar. http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/friday-night-ops-episode-21.95383/
Point 3. Running a Red Light3. Stoplight Maneuvering: When you attack a base, you do so in three ways, green/yellow/red. If the platoon/squad lead does not specify then you are green which means go to fire on any enemies you encounter. RED only comes into play so you don't show up on the map and get to the target quickly. tomorrow... Shmoke of you got um
Point 4. Smoke if You Got Um4 Smoke if you Got um: Smoke signals will be used by platoon and squad leaders to designate targets of interest. They will be set up on your arrival or departure at enemy bases. tomorrow... cover your support your cover (repeat)
Point 5. Support your Cover your Support5 Support your Cover your Support: Alpha through Charlie cover the caps, defend the points and stay with their squad leaders. Delta is the ‘black ops’ or ‘shadow squad’ made up not only of cloakers, but entirely of support classes also including engineers and medics. When you see them performing their support function, cover them as they do it. IF the sunderer is under fire EVERYONE should spawn in as engineers FIRST and fix it. This is ESSENTIAL to keeping our spawn points alive. Likewise when we move in a sunderer in hostile territory you will be a heavy with a lockon weapon out and ready to deploy for the trip. tomorrow... DEPLOY & ANNOY
Point 6. Deploy & AnnoyDeploy and Annoy: As we move around the battlefield, we use Sundy,s Gal’s and tanks and do a lot of foot zerging. Along with this we have Squad beacons, spawn on commanders, and ways to get us to a fight, and sometimes a whole different continent much quicker. It’s the DEPLOY key. You are able to deploy onto a hot zone (usually the crown, let’s be honest) every 15 minutes. This is our secondary mode of transport in the sentinels. You will be required to move via deploy on when called on to attack with very little notice, usually 2 minutes. A Commander will count down from 3 when it’s time to drop and tell you the target he wants taken or rally point A perfect example of this was the crown takedown on 2/24 Where VDRS with tons of soldiers strong under Notyourbro dropped in with a ton of Vanu and easily.. did i mention easily took the crown in a matter of minutes with NO gals or any other method of transportation available. And this can be used every 15 minutes to move MASSIVE amounts of troops around the map as long as they have cloakers there to hack out AMS's when they get there. This is THE single most underused tactic in the game and I would love to see it utlized more, at least by VAnu.. tomorrow... Should I stand here... or perhaps here?
Point 7. Should I Stand Here... or Perhaps Here? Should I Stand here.. Or here?: When taking points, you will notice a bar, not only on the left hand side of the screen telling you how long till the point is taken. But even for ancillary outposts there will be a bar at the top of the screen informing you that you are taking a base. When the bar goes away, you are out of the area that is needed to cap the base. Sentinels require members to be able to count to the number SIX on single caps and TWO per cap point at ABC bases. You will use that bar to find the best possible position as far away from other members of your squad to cap the point and make a much broader target for enemy grenades. Do not clump up on the point. tomorrow... Dance to the Music
