The patch notes for GU7 have been released, so I think it is time to reevaluate the VS AI weapons of choice. Surprisingly, it is the Nebula and not the Blueshift that got the most significant buffs: Reduced accuracy loss from 0.06 to 0.05 (other VS MAX AI weapons still have 0.06) Increased RoF from 400 to 425 rpm. A nerf: reduced muzzle velocity from 450m/s to 425m/s The most significant buff the Cosmos received was an increase to muzzle velocity from 400m/s to 500m/s. And the Cosmos remains the most accurate of the VS MAX AI weapons. Anyway, after the buffs, a dual Nebulas setup has 2085 DPS and 0.494 TTK, while a dual Cosmos setup has 1875 DPS and 0.534 TTK. I realise these numbers are theorycrafting, and when this is released, more definite conclusions can be reached (by the way, keep bumping that thread - that is some great work by a member of our community - let's show our appreciation and support). And the superior accuracy and muzzle velocity of the Cosmos means that more bullets will connect faster, requiring less leading and adjusting of aim. But the Nebulas will have less accuracy degradation, so perhaps they will be more accurate for sustained fire. Or maybe the higher RoF will negate that advantage. Still, the question stands: Is dual Nebulas the new superior setup for VS MAX?
I don't think so for one reason, with TTK so close on something as durable as a Max (durable for this game anyway), the massive ammo count and storage on the Cosmos will probably come to much greater benefit in practice. And yes while the Nebula got it's tweaks I still think Cosmos will be the 'accurate' gun though lets face it, any decent VS max burst fires in order to hit the broadside of a barn anyway. Further since most VS already own Cosmos not Nebulas they probably won't switch. That said these are now a much more viable alternative, unlike EVERY OTHER AI gun for the VS and yes you'll probably see this very question asked alot from now on and people who value TTK the most will probably go Neblua and those who value more independence or practicality will go Cosmos from here out. Here's hoping the rest of the guns get buffed, even if its just all them getting Cosmos accuracy.
I've been considering getting the Nebulas now. The reduced TTK (Could someone calculate it?) is certainly noticeable now, apart from what it was before, like 1% less or something, compared to the Cosmos.
You forgot to mention min dmg range on Nebulas is at 50m, not sure if Cosmos min dmg range was changed. TTK is still a bit better on dual Cosmos, since it only needs 3 bullets from both guns compared to 3+4 bullets with dual Nebulas. Nebulas will be better against nanoweave users. I'm surprised they didn't nerf Cosmos accuracy, instead they gave it the highest VS AI bullet speed and a small reload speed buff. Time to get that second Cosmos.
What I wonder is why they nerfed the Blueshift. I mean... .... ? .. ! ah whatever. Cosmos and Nebula won't really be usable together much given the disparity on projectile speed got higher, but both got slight buffs. I'm happy with my Cosmos, I might actually think about getting a second one. AI+ Comet doesn't work out anymore; I wonder if dual Comets have a long range AI use? Nebulas might make a good partner once Flamers come out.
Before it was so, because dual Nebulas took 7 bullets to kill, Cosmos 2, and the higher RoF of the dual Nebulas setup did not compensate enough for that matter. But now, the added 50 rpm reduce the TTK, making the dual Nebulas the winner in this aspect. But dual Cosmos don't have a significantly higher TTK, and the sustained accuracy, muzzle velocity and other factors indicate that it is still a viable setup. I guess as Ryko Nailo posted above, it comes down to playstyle after all, which is a good thing. One other aspect to consider is organised teamplay and tactics. For instance, NC love to use their infantry weapons for mid range and long and rely on their MAXes for CQC. Now with the removal of the extra tier of damage degradation, perhaps it is viable for VS to run with a similar setup. Or not. We'll see how it plays out. As for the Blueshift, the more I think about it, they should have gone with just nerfing the "f" in its name. At least people would know what they were getting into...
AND LETS OPEN A NEW PETITION - FIX THE BLUESHFT TO WHAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE THE MOST ACCURATE ANTI INFANTRY WEAPON FOR THE MAX UNIT - EVERY VS WHICH BOUGHT THE BLUESHIFT SHORT AFTER RELEASE WITH A COMPLETE LACK OF TEST ROOMS OR SUFFICIENT TRIAL TIME IS STILL COMPLETELY BETRAYED IN BUSINESS TERMS THE CONSCIOUS PROMISE / PRETENDING OF PRODUCT FEATURESWHICH DO NOT EXIST TO TRICK CUSTOMERS INTO PURCHASE IS.|. FRAUD .|.so SOE either has to fix the product or has to remunerate SC or exchange it for the weapon which actually fits the product description, people bought he most accurate AI MAX WEAPON and not a skin with the TITLE BLUESHIFT. I bought a purpose and a feature on which I was betrayed by being given a completely broken product and no exchange nor SC cash back.
The nebula changes seem more like a nerf than a buff to me. Mainly because of this: Minimum Damage @ 50 meters: 112 It used to reach min damage at 105 meters, now its 50, so the damage falloff is much steeper than it used to be. I haven't run the numbers but I'd imagine the DPS is now lower at ranges beyond 10m than it was before.
It got a RoF increase, which translates directly to shorter TTK. You should never, ever use your MAX weapon at 50+ ranges anyways, especially the fast-firing inaccurate nebulas, so that nerf is ridiculously irrelevant.
Anybody experienced a big hitdetection problems with cosmos today? Couldn´t kill (even stopping and refiring couldn´t help) anything that would normally be dead...
Occasionally happens. As for the shorter range for min damage, keep in mind it has to get there. If the min damage is reached at 50 instead of 100 meters, it'll be halfway there at 30, instead of only a third away from max damage.
So they finally put in numbers (yay) and uh http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/541832243733107252/96B7E320A2B9848E16226C70151696F720DDFB52/ This is apparently a thing.... It seems that in pretty much every regard the blueshift is WORST than the gun its supposed to excel over (ingame item description says as much). Anyone else get the feeling VS MAX weapons really havent been looked at since the beta build that we got them, you know the build AFTER everyone else got theirs?
That's the reason I switched to Nebulas a long time ago. They are a much more reliable in CQC situations and suffer less from poor ned-code and bad hit-detection.
I ran for quite some time yesterday with dual cosmos' and I must say that I saw a decreased accuracy at range, which surprised me greatly. Standing in the little room facing one of Allatum's landing pads just inside the dome, I couldn't even hit people just over the rail on the pad... Then as always there is the problem with the no hit detection at close range...
They did a hotfix, seems that there werent the stats implemented... So which ones is the best? did u try Blueshift? they seem more accurate than the rest.
