So like, im nearing there. Was it worth the grind? Sadly i dont see any reviews on it so I'd like to know what am i in for on the Darkstar
From what I heard, it's just a standard Pulsar with foregrip, compensator and a heat mechanic. It should be better ADS-accuracy wise but worse at hipfire. Heat ammo means less ammo in a magazine compared to the standard Pulsar but you have unlimited magazines.
Nope, it's a stock Pulsar VS1 with the heat mechanic so you have 25 rounds before you're forced to reload. Get it if you like using a stock Eridani on your medic, it not then unlock it but still use the only "good" VS AR's which are the Terminus, CME, or NS-11a.
The VS carbine and assault rifle directive in its current form is useless. The 25 round magazine with 143 dmg model is hopeless. Even the AX-11 got its magazine buffed and thats 200dmg model. Unlimited ammo isnt enough of an upsize to even come close to justify the lower mag size. Basicly if you don't have godly aim and land headshot after headshot, HA with shield on will most times not drop if you have average aim.
I really wish the Darkstar had some other defining characteristic and that the reduced magazzine with heat mechanic was instead an empire specific ammunition upgrade.
I've unlocked the darkstar a week ago. As the OP say, it's a Pulsar VS1 with forward grip and compensator. It have 24 / 25 bullet with a heat mechanic. It's main advantage is the unlimited ammo and the very low recoil without sacrifing the RoF. It's main weakness is it have the lower damage per magazine in the game : killing enemy HA will harder than with other weapon. This is an excellent weapon for medium / long range fight, when you can use you shield beacon. If you try to snipe at very long range with this weapon, it has almost unlimited bullet per clip. But due to it's low DpM (3452 per magazine), avoid the CQC and take your enemy 1 by 1 or you will overheat a lot. So. If you have overall low accuracy or bad headshot ratio in CQC, avoid this weapon If you generally run out of ammo when facing to an enemy HA, avoid this weapon In any other situation take it, you will love it !
It's basically a stock Pulsar VS1 but I didn't really notice the lack of a compensator even though the VS1 was the gun I auraxed right before it. It's actually one of my favorite directive weapons overall because the heat mechanic has great synergy with doing other stuff like dropping your shield bubble, eating a medkit, or using your med tool in that doing any of those things basically reloads your gun if you didn't overheat it. Definitely an improvement over stock. It'd be a go-to if the stock gun wasn't totally inferior to the Terminus.
Until they increase at least the mag size to 30 it's not worth the grind. The heat mechanic is great but the 24/25 (seems to vary) rounds mag kills it. Terminus is the way to go. So, after your first 150 kills, what's your opinion about the Darkstar? Worth the grind or not?
