VCO Casual Ops! While you were sleeping, the fine men and women of Voodoo Company were blowing up the country side in our Hossin Alert this evening. I ran as lead of just a little more than half a squad of super awesome dudes and I gotta say, lots of fun this evening! Also learned that even little dogs can eat people if you let your guard down.... INSIDE JOKE! XD

Fort Drexter was the highlight of the evening, with VCO popping in to reinforce a siege against the VS. Control of B and C point flipped multiple times but VCO never let up the pressure, refusing to simply camp one point building. Resecuring three point flips and extinguishing an in-base sundy, VCO turned its attention to a pair of sundies setting up against the northern walls to cut into our flank. Not today, son! VCO dispatched them both with relative ease. With plenty of VS dead and their toys smashed, the NC claimed the base proudly.

We then moved our focus to the TR front but to little avail. There simply wasn't enough time to capture what was needed to etch out a win. We resecured what we could before rejoicing in the little victories we claimed this evening. Hell of a good show, everyone!

Join us Monday at 8:00EST for our official ops!

Surprised you got away with "boobs" and "beer" in the thread title.
Won't someone think of the children?

VCO Official ops on this wonderful Cyber Monday! Yours truly? You just know that Hatsune's on the front line! Leading an entire Bravo squad of glory and bullets.

Ops today was a little slower than most, trying to adjust to our smaller force certainly shows. It didn't stop us from bringing the pain to both TR and VS this evening. The grandest fight was the tug-of-war among the bridges between Regent Rock Garrison and Scarred Mesa Skydock. At one point we had at least a full squad of assets rolling down the bridge. So many that I ended up being pushed off as I tried to move up my sundie. Fun fact; vehicles CAN, in fact, survive the fall into that weird.... ocean thing at the edge of the map. Who knew?

I got to spend a little more time as a Max this evening, something I usually don't get to do. Although we couldn't take the base, I had some fun learning more about decent positioning for that big ol' yellow skill suit. Maybe I'll try it a bit more in solo play too. I spent some of my station cash to give a much needed upgrade to my Maxes and certainly do recommend those extended mags (as if I needed to. :p

The game's still rated teen, right? Fairly confident teenagers know what boobs are by now. If not.... boobs are fun. There, ya learned it first from good ol' uncle HatsuneMiki.

You know what... I'm not gonna start this one by shouting this time.....

Just kidding! VCO! You all know that when the Voodoo comes out to play, heads and metal's gonna roll. I ran in Alpha tonight with my good buddies, dropping on TR toys left and right during tonight's Esamir Alert. VCO was quick to get its demo on, making straight to the front lines at Jagger's Crossing to fend off a TR force 1.5 times our size. The TR were quick to pull assets once Crossing became their own, staging a defense against those numbers and arms wouldn't had played out. So VCO did what VCO does best; bring the fight to the enemy and watch them bleed. We went on the aggressive, gal dropping onto as many sunderers as we can. The TR were persistent, pulling three to four sundies at a time. However, they were kind enough to leave them parked right next to each other often enough that it rarely mattered. At least one team did wise up to our tricks and began rotating sundie spots. It made it a wee bit annoying to drop onto nothing but, on the other hand, it meant that the sundies weren't deployed long enough to be a reliable spawn for their allies... so... win? That's a tough call. The results were in our favour; VCO's efforts to keep their sundies on lock-down assisted greatly assisted in the defense at Andvari Bio Lab. However, it appears time and the fates were not on our side.

While the battles at both Andvari and Mani labs raged, the TR had managed to cut off the lattice to the VS-controlled Waterson's Redemption. The fight there had kept a good three squads to each enemy faction bottled up nicely but it left a very sorry state of affairs for the NC once the TR finally claimed the base. As if it wasn't bad enough that a platoon and a half were now free to attack new bases, the fight had left all but exactly one lattice-line connecting to NC fronts. Quite literally, all but one fight on the map was a fight against the NC! I don't blame anyone; I'm doubtful that the TR planned something like that. Even if they did, I'd be far more impressed than agitated, that would be awesome to pull something like that off. In the end, it spelled doom for the NC's alert war efforts but didn't stop us from having a good time. I personally enjoyed a little almost-escape as I piloted my gal across the VS front. We escaped three scythes and a liberator! :D ... Just to get shot down by another Galaxy! :p ... Umm... Special thanks to my gunners for that, by the way. :p

The next official ops is tomorrow, Wednesday at 8:00PM EST. See you there!

Thanks man! A very awesome thing about this game is that so many battles are cool enough to be memorable, especially if you roll with some pretty cool guys too.

Just... wow... Hell of an Amerish Alert this evening. GG to all who came out, TR and VS included. That was fun!

VCO official ops found itself suiting up against the TR's new strat of pulling as many sundies as they could. The defense at North Grove Post required many redrops, popping assets with every one and joining our brothers of the NC in flooding the point building. Even saw some friends from BAX too. The fighting swapped to the Bio Lab, VCO moving with the TR pop to counter act and, more importantly, keep them from stopping our own pushes elsewhere. VCO ran with almost two full squads at one point and our fearless leader, Chris, was bogged down with command comms and trying to SL, PL and probably *** too. I just had to step in, and became the lead of Alpha for the rest of the evening.

Among the considerable carnage we enjoyed this fine evening, one fight does stand out as my fave. Not because of the blood shed (but hooooohhhhhh boy, there was some) but because of what it meant to our squad. Our recruitment efforts have yielded some new faces, one such lad was either inexperienced and/or lacked confidence to pull a gall and drop us on a much needed defense at Chimney Rock Depot but said he would step up if the team needed it. Well, we did. And it was almost flawless. VCO's two squads dropped onto a point hold within seconds of losing the base. I, along with a few other members of Alpha, managed to get behind the VS line inside the point building and had some fun mopping up some juicy juicy medic kills. Well played VCO! And to all who read this, never be afraid to pull assets for your team. Be it in solo play or with a squad, a friendly sundy to spawn on or a gal to drop out of goes a big way in helping the fight!... also, you get tons of free certs. :p

The alert built up to a three-way tie with a difference of 0.5%; the NC and VS controlled 33% whereas the TR stood with 34%. VCO made a call to defend against the VS in one of two bases; West Pass Watchtower or The Scarfeild Requiem. Turns out the CaptainInArms had the right idea, we should have picked the later of the two. VCO assisted in the defense at West Pass but ended up losing Scarfeild in the process. The VS won the alert, hard-earned on all parts. The TR, VS and NC all made for a fun evening. Well played, everyone!

I ended the evening actually feeling like I was somewhat successful as an SL. Alpha ran on point, no one needed policing (for the most part anyway) and whenever we dropped, we were effective for the vast majority of ops. I even managed to end the evening with a positive K/D too! Let me tell ya, that's REALLY tough to do when your outfit specializes in demo ops. I had an awesome time this evening, and I know there will be many more to come. If you want in on this action, all you gotta do is step up.

The next official ops is Monday at 8:00 EST. Until then, lots of casual play and lots of fun.

VCO official... FILMING DAY! That's right ya'll, Hatsune's gone and got his Director on!... not the in-game rank title.. just... just directing things related to media production....

Filming for the next training video is complete. A special thanks to everyone who came out and for the TR and VS for letting me shoot them so often as a Light Assault (the purpose of that scene was to prove we DON'T use them, dammit!). To get your fix for VCO shenanigans, here's the latest VCO Moment. It's a little sendoff to all our friends who merged with our good buddies BAX.

    Enjoy! :D

The next official ops is Monday at 8:00 EST! See you there!

Okay!.... hear me out! Today... was just... fuzzy. Not quite weird, just not 'normal' enough to call it an average day.

VCO official ops found the explosive-happy outfit in the entire emerald server on Indar for better part of the alert tonight( that's right! I said it! VCO loves explosives more than your outfit! Come at me bro!). Alpha formed pre-op and our lead, although still super awesome for forming a casual squad, wasn't quite feeling up to the official ops SL challenge so I stepped into the driver seat once more. Somehow, things just felt a little off about the fights we found. We situated ourselves for containment of the VS front, mostly against the Indar Comm Array and sounding lattice. Of all the fights we took, by far the most entertaining was the assault of the Comm Array itself. Alpha moved up its small convoy of Sunderers and armour up the mountain. Guided by our boys in Bravo, who had dropped ahead of us, we set up shop and braced for the worst. Prepping bases is always risky business, and our first attempt was snuffed by the VS and their purple flashlights of mild inconvenience (well played, Vs. Good show). Luckily, by bthis time, the NC caught up and it was a proper fight once more! Alpha and Bravo, seizing the opportunity, dropped onto the rooftop of the dual-story building. We weren't the only ones up there either, three other outfits saw fit to drop with us including BAX and TIW (good to see ya, mates!). A rocket barrage kept our enemy at bay and the base was ours after a time out on the cap.

Every other fight we seemed to find was mostly on containment, dropping sunderers left and right. Normally I'm super into that stuff, but today felt kinda off. No bases flipped, no advances of note. I tried to get Alpha into the building right beside the point at West Highlands to shake things up, and to our credit we did get inside and flipped point, but it was short lived. In my now growing time as an SL, I need to try to look out for my squads entertainment was well as effectiveness. No reason we can't have both, right? Tis why we place this game!

Then my family brought home my sisters cat... and I had to sign off to clean up all my papers off the floor of my room.... then I got back on and we were... fighting the TR off our tech plant? Ops ended then minutes later. I did get to fly a zephyr lib and my gunner snagged some neat kills, which was pretty fun.

Bah! I don't know why it seems like there's a funk, alpha ran just fine aside from a handful of the typical pubbie stranglers (just gotta deal with it until we get a nice core going again). And I don't think I made any particular bad calls, nor did Chris in the PL seat. Kinda just lackluster.... Karaoke. We must have a karaoke night again! You heard it first, folks, as I type this I am now officially planning the next VCO Karaoke night! Variety is the spice of life, after all! :p More details to follow!

See you at the next official ops, Wednesday at 8:00 EST!

VCO! Official Ops! HatsuneMIki! Platoon Lead!? When did this happen? Our fearless leader was tied up with other duties, so Chris asked me to step in and take over Ops tonight. Ya'll know me, always willing to be what the team needs. So I took command of our (at its peak) one and a half squads worth of brothers and sisters and rolled out on Esamir for some blasting and relaxing.

The highlight had to be the siege of Rime Analytics. Pops were roughly 55-45 in our favor, but I knew that the base was easily defended as the point building is assailable from three sides and there's no way to efficiently reinforce an attacking team aside from Gal drops. I split Bravo off from the point room and had them lock down the north eastern room to contest the VS's far flank. I knew we had to stop them from setting up shop along the southern walls of the point room or we were toast. Bravo held its flank and Alpha locked down anyone silly enough to try and fight their way through the bottom staircase. The assault was successful and the base was ours!... In spirit anyway, the base owners were listed as our good buddies Recon 6. Well played, 4thwrld. :p

Then... everyone kinda left? We were defending the bridge at Geological Survey Camp from the TR. The NC were contesting the point and we were prime to take the TR-controlled base, I saw our best place to be a defense against a TR armour zerg by gunning down anyone who would try to pull assets from the bridge terminal. Turns out my intuition was right, BWC had a nice little shootout with us. Lots of fun, guys! The the heat of the brawl, my Bravo lead had to sign off. He had told me before Ops started that would happen, no surprises. I simply condensed our, at that point, two half-squads back into one. We eventually got booted out, but other members kept leaving as we looked for a new frontier. I know I'm not the most popular lead, but I thought we were doing fine . Hell, I even had a positive K/D at this point and still managed to end the night with a net score of only -1. I guess I didn't find a good fight quick enough? I dunno, maybe I'm overthinkin it. It is exam/prep for holiday season afterall.

Stay tuned! The next official ops is Monday at 8:00 EST! Will I be PL? SL? A normal soldier? Running for president? Summoning Cthulhu? Defeating Cthulhu? Baking chocolate chip cookies?... Who know? Not me, that's for sure.

VCO! Ya'll know what time it is! Time to have some super fun casual ops! I lead a fun squad of super awesome bros and gals into some Indar Alert action tonight. Even got to see some old buddies among the ranks, so you know it's a good time!

The highlight of the evening was most certainly the base prep at Crossroads Watchtower, which is a little weird because I wasn't there for most of it. The TR had thrown at least two armour columns at Broken Arch Road. Gal drops were effective at holding them back at even pops, but the NC were starting to buckle as the TR came increasingly closer to cracking the base. After a second resecure of the point room, and seeing that the NC could stand on its feet for a minute or two, I pulled Alpha into a Gal with the intent to drop onto the terminals at Crossroads and set up a blockade behind them to give the NC some room to push up. Unfortunately our super sneaky plans were found out, something about a giant airship flying directly over a deployed sunderer right at their base tipped them off to our master plan. Those who did survive the drop took C-Point and locked it down for a good minute, forcing back a good size of our enemy to address us. Not the plan I had in mind, but successful none-the-less! :D

As suggested by some of our squadmates, we tried the plan again but with a different execution; this time, we pulled sunderers and supporting armour from The Crown and made ourselves a nice little foothold behind the A-Point building. It wasn't long before the TR pop had to address our cap of all three-points of the facility; the NC were able to push up and the fight to defend Broken Arch became the fight to conquer Crossroads. Good show everyone!

The next official ops is Monday at 8pm EST. See you there, folks!

You know what, I wanna open a little discussion today.

VCO ran a casual squad earlier today on Hossin. Orders were simple and allowed for everyone to do their own thing, it's early in the afternoon on a weekday so reason to get all bent up over a super laid-back squad. Unfortunately the fights we found never seemed to be in our favour , not to mention my aim was more than a wee bit off today, and I racked up quite a bad K/D. But does K/D matter?

The answer, in my humble opinion, is yes but only as much as you make it. It is true that K/D can be a measure of your gun play but, in Planetside 2, it's by far more-so a measure of your positioning. Time-to-kill is redonkulously low regardless of which faction you play with and with 48+ guns firing in any one area it's difficult to assign all deaths a matter of an inability to shoot that one guy faster than he shot you. Where you position yourself and how you move are the two most important factors in deciding how long you retain your life in this game and that can just as easily be influenced by your SL's orders and the enemy's tactics as much as your own competencies within Planetside.

K/D matters, you will still need to get rid of enemies to capture bases and win the day. It is a reliable indication of how well you're progressing in this game. But it is not the ONLY thing that matters and it's certainly not the most important. Death is almost penalty-free in this game; even ignoring that medics can resurrect you at will with the ungodly power of nanites, sunderers and galaxies bring you back into the action almost instantly. Even those without superior gun play can support their teammates who do by pulling these assets and keeping their squad in the fight. And keep in mind, if you're having a bad K/D spread while rolling in a squad, chances are your squadmates are too. Remember that positioning based on your SL's orders has a big influence on how long you can keep yourself alive in a fight. If you find yourself slipping, you're likely not alone. So don't forget to give your team a little friendly encouragement every once in awhile. You're all in this together, after all.

So why did I post this here, rather than in the discussions forum? This is how the majority of VCO feels about K/D spread, or at least those who I've talked to about it since the merger. When you select a n outfit you want to play with, try to find one that uses the same measures of success. It'll make things a heck of a lot more fun!

I'm still trying to get to a positive K/D because I want to be a leader worth following. One that won't lead his squad into oblivion every time we drop into a fight. VCO will be the NC's demo ops and cavalry charges but there's no reason why I can't make myself a damn good gunslinger either. :p

Stay tuned! The next official ops is Monday at 8:00 EST!
  12. Hatsunemiki

VCO official ops and for the second one in the role, I took the roll of PL. Or I would have if we had enough soldiers to do so, I simply ran with our squad of certified awesome bros. We started out on Amerish to help out with the alert, but it was clear that the fights just weren't happening.

On that note, I got a question to all who read my little diary posts. What's the deal with armour? VCO doesn't have an armour core yet, so I have little experience with the strategies surrounding it, but every base we crossed seemed to have half a squad of NC tanks too scared to move out of their hex. It just strikes me as counter intuitive to have pull a massive gun with wheel and then cower in a corner with it while the enemies guns with wheels come rolling up to knock on our doors. I know BL, PHX and SMG have armour cores, would you mind shedding a wee bit of light on the subject? It may have been an off night, or maybe it was a coincidentally large amount of Blueberry armour that just happened to be falling back at the time. Thoughts?

Anywho, VCO spent most of its night around the Eisa Tech Plant and surrounding bases. Learning from past mistakes, I was sure to shake things up every once in awhile by switching latices for a fight or two. The highlight had to be our siege at Eisa Mining Operation. We swept in on a gal drop near the north-western flank were there is always an enemy sunderer ready for popping. Successful in our demo endeavors, I moved my boys and I to the cliff-side path just over the mountains. I knew the TR would likely try to use it to establish a foothold and knock back our offensive. The fight certainly wasn't easy; maxes encroached our new home in steadily increasing numbers. Enough rockets and gun fire kept them at bay. Condensing back to point, VCO and the NC swept aside what last ditch push there was to take back the base. Eisa Mining was ours!

In other news, a meeting was held to spark a discussion on the future of VCO Air Div. We manged to get some interest and hammered out a strategy we wanted to start training in first. More updates to follow if anyone's looking to get into the skies.

VCO will soon be moving to three official ops a week! Tuesday, Thursdays and Sundays are projected to be our new days of glory. Until told otherwise, we'll be working with out current schedule.

Catch us next time, Wednesday at 8:00 EST!

VCO casual shenanigans! Why no post about the official ops? Totally missed it! XD Just in case anyone is wondering what it's like to be Canadian, watch a TV series called Corner Gas. Annnnd the Corner Gas Movie aired last Wednesday, so I watched that with the family.

But all kiiinds of fun rolling in the VCO casual squads for the past few days. Rolling on Indar with my mates and my Reever, workin on those AvA skillz so that VCO Air Div has a someone competent Air Boss. :p Average life span was around 11 minutes, something I'm very satisfied with at this current moment in time.

Earlier today I rolled with VCO and took to the skies once more. But this time we were hunting a different menace, one far more evil than all who came before! SNOWMEN!... We put some time into hunting for that objective. :p Still was lots if fun! Even went into space at one point.... or was close to it before we all bailed out. :p

You know what work your boy, Hatsune does on a daily basis? Ya'll know what it is. Here's the latest VCO Moments:

The next VCO ops is tomorrow, Sunday at 8:00 EST. I likely won't be there because Sunday's my family's Christmas (we all work the 25th). But catch ya some other time!
  14. Hatsunemiki

Hooookay! Did not expect this when I woke up this morning. Did not expect "Hey, Hatsune! You wanna Platoon lead a full three-squads and capture your first base with VCO tags?". Beacuse that just happened!

VCO! Official Ops! I had the pleasure of rolling strong as Platoon Lead of a 36-man team of guns and glory. Our main man, Chris was present and ran as my Bravo lead, but your good ol' boy Hatsune stepped up anyway and was in the mood to enforce some true blue righteousness this evening.

The most momentous occasion of the evening was the assault of Tawrich Recycling. We had lost the base previously, falling back to the Tech Plant itself to regroup. After a quick dispatch of the sunderers guarding the shield gens, I had all three squads Gal up to retake what was ours. The TR had two sunderers to deal with, both within a grenades throw of the point building itself. Trying my best to coral my Alpha squad, Bravo dropped on the far west flank while I had Alpha and Charlie drop on the sundy in the dead center of the base. Heavily fortified, we had to take it down or a point siege would simply be fruitless. It took a couple tries, well played TR, but no sunderer lasts forever when VCO sets its sights on it. After a successful demo run, I had VCO lock down the point building by relying on Spawn Beacon flips and Gal presence to secure our position. The TR attempted to siege back in, but it was too late. They pulled Maxes, their Maxes fell. The Base was ours with brand new VCO tags labeled as the proud owners. My first time leading more than a two squads and my first base cap with our tags. VCO's well on its way back to it's full strength! Huzza! :D

Now, certainly our most momentous occasion. But not out tactical highlight of the evening. The title belongs to Mao Southwest Gate. The fight was a bare-knuckle brawl for Briggs Labratories, assets from both sides dotted the horizon and both VS and NC were locked in CQC combat over an NC controlled point on VS turf. The fight was tough but the NC drew a hard line, I felt we could afford a squad to try some shenanigans. Bravo covered the northern flank and high-ground, protecting our sunderes. I had Alpha brace against the western flank and hold on for dear life. I had noticed absolute zero population at Mao Southwest and dispatched Charlie to prep the base, hacking the terminal and pulling sunderers to allow us a quick entry once this fight was over. We were deadlocked over this base, I even had Charlie redeploy back after they had finished set-up, so I would move VCO to the next one before the VS had time to breathe. When the point at Briggs timed out to our fave shade of blue, I left cleanup to the rest of the NC. VCO redeployed to the sunderer Charlie had cleverly set up in the eastern tower. My boys and gals stormed the base, flipping both shield gen and point before the rest of the NC and VS could arrive. It was lots of fun, well played everyone. The NC claim another base and VCO claims another good fight.

Normally I'd say to join us Thursday for next ops (in fact, I think I DID say it in ops tonight as we disbanded) but next Thursday's Christmas! (whoops, my bad)

Go spend time with the family that loves ya! :p Then catch us Sunday at 8:00 EST for some more boobs, beer and freedom!

Quite frankly, I'm not sure why I haven't seen many other outfits encourage members to make diary entries on recruitment forums. The absolute best method of convincing someone you're worth playing with is to provide proof that you actually DO play. I'll gladly share VCO's stories and my own development as a player because that's just what VCO offers; a chance to grow in this game that we love. None of this bumping nonsense. No lies, boasting or bravado of how awesome we are (okay, maybe a little/lot of bravado :p). Just pure, clean and well-worded examples of our battles and my own little story within Planetside 2. Exactly what you can expect if you roll with us and our promise to the Planetside community as a whole.

I guess it also helps that I thoroughly enjoy writing as well as happen to be VCO's present YouTube Director. :p

VCO! Climbing our way back to the top! The NC, we love ya! Shout-out to all our friends everywhere who dawn the blue and yellow... jackets? Are they coats or some ungodly nanite creation?

I logged on and was super stoked to see the platoon already formed and two, soon to be three squads thick. It couldn't had been better timing, our Bravo lead was soon asking for a replacement and I was happy to step up. One thing I gotta say, love the sheer number of people willing to pull galaxies for us tonight. A little bit of coordination was needed, perhaps, as Bravo usually has a couple sky whales pulled at a time with rather humorous results. :p Once we did get our heads on straight, bravo ran as an effective ground pounder. By far, our highlight was the defense at Mani Lake Satellite and transition to the siege at Aurora Materials Lab. The TR had dedicated at least a platoon and five sunderers to the attack upon our precious NC soil at Mani Lake. The NC began the fight boxed in, but a quick redeploy by VCO set things right. Our enemy had stacked itself against the northern mountain sides of the base but simply ignoring them was enough to touch the exterior walls of the point building. Alpha and Bravo made it to the point first, resecuring it and bracing against the TR weight then thrust upon it. The NC began to hold its ground by a thin line, Charlie squad was given orders to wrap around the back of the base in Lightnings to destroy any and all TR spawn logistic. The fight proved too much for Charlie to do alone, Alpha joined with orders for Bravo to push the north flank and engage the sundy in the garage. With two squads missing from our defense, I knew it wasn't going to be possible to engage the enemy from the direct route leaving the spawn room without losing our grasp on the point building. I had my boys in Bravo slowly encroach the garage from the point building first, ensuring our enemies stayed exactly where we wanted them; in the middle of a firefight, where we could see them. Alpha and Charlie melted the TR's backup sundy collection and Bravo snuffed out the northern flank of the TR. The base was ours.

So, what do you do with two squads worth of Lightnings after a successful defense? Keep the party going, baby! VCO Set its sights on Aurora Materials Lab and was able to wrap itself around the base with little contest. Pulling up sundies to support our assault, VCO positioned itself on top of the big stairs and dared the TR to come in. Some did, they died. A very short story, but critically acclaimed as between tank shells, AMS support and my Bravo boys cappin points and rackin up kills, VCO was declared new proud owners after the base became the newest property of the NC. Well played, VCO!

Join us next time at 8:00 pm EST!
