You can do this pretty much with anything. Engy turret works well too.

While I agree the engineer turret represents one of the most stinky brands of cheese they are one of the few things holding tank zergs in check atm. Since puo2 I have noticed far more unsupported tank squads/platoons. One guy gets out to cap the point while the rest farm the spawn. These highly dedicated "cheesegeneers" actually allow infantry combat to happen.
