omg, dat was smash on hilltop:eek:
saving certs for battle galaxy too, don't know what to choose Precision Drops or High-G
  3. Lightwolf

Do you fly with a crew or by yourself?
  4. \m/SLAYER\m/

    suppose fly with gunners
  5. PKfire

Yeah that hilltop stuff was funny. Kudos

I'd go with High-G, since you can stop and accelerate pretty quick with it.

    For a squad-drop-Galaxy I'd go with precision, but for battle-gally and jack-of-all-trades: High-G

    Right, so here's the tradeoff.

Precision-The Panda Frame; Precision is the least reliant on vertical thrust to power its maneuvers. With much stronger yaw and roll, it's very good very close to the ground. This means a good precision pilot can take better advantage of ground cover than an equally skilled high g pilot. This means a place like Hossin is a panda pilot's dream come true, while a g pilot better be on his nanite-enhanced toes to even attempt maneuvers below tree line. Precision gunners are also just that; precise. Because of the slow moving platform and general lack of vertical thrust, the gunners have less to compensate for and can be far more accurate far more easily. This makes it a good platform for a dedicated crew or people you pick up on a regular basis (pubbies will miss their shots 90% of the time it counts even sitting still). The yaw also makes it easier to swing your choice of weapons into play or track targets more easily on the ground.
Panda Problems; a panda whale is slow as both its namesakes, no faster than a stock galaxy. This makes it particularly vulnerable to esf/libs giving chase and even worse at closing with a target in the air. Pandas might be great close to the ground, but as soon as you leave cover expect faster aircraft to hunt you down.

high g- The everyman frame. By far and away most pilots use high g. Why? Because it has no obvious flaws. A well flown high-g galaxy can be as maneuverable as a liberator, and (for all intents and purposes) as fast as a racer galaxy. The high-g frame is better for solo pilots, being easier to ram with and more stable for seat swapping. With a crew, the g frame is inherently superior for AA brawling, but is no slouch at CAS work either. My current record for a bulldog gunner is nearly 300 kills in one life (at a heavily populated tower that miraculously had no AA.) relying on pitching and vertical thrust for maneuvering, skills you pick up in the whale easily transfer to other aircraft. Many of the best liberator pilots began in whales.
High-G problems; high-G is so used that it makes you predictable. Most esfs will break to the sides around a whale because of this. Most pilots will have an inate understanding of what you're about to do. Additionally, it suffers from being a jack of all trades-master of none. Gunners also have a harder time in a well flown high g whale, as its constantly jerking around and using vertical thrusters to add to its speed or translate up/down, this means they're constantly having to readjust for what the whale is doing.

    Are you PKHawk?

    Here's to empty galaxies.

thanks for the clarification, not i think about High-G, because there a lot o aircraft on server
  11. Akaan

I'd say always go with High G. That pitch and vthrust improvement is way more useful and can also be used to fly at low altitudes.

I've always used precision. with airbrake and roll I can usually keep up with high g framed gals quite easily. The thing about a galaxy is you have to use more forward thinking then most would, well, think. A lot of the time you start off having to react to a fight and not starting it. from there you have to out think your oponent and get the upper hand.
You could always just rush them though as well lol. I always laugh when I see a group of fighters coming my way and I turn and rush THEM. They hesitate long enough to let me crush one and then the gunners open up on the others and they scatter. Nothing like air superiority delivered in one fat slow moving can lol.
  13. Lightwolf

There you go. Opposite viewpoints, both valid.

it really is splitting hairs when it comes to what is 'best' It really depends on the person. if high g works well and you feel comfortable, then stick to it. if precision feels like the way to go, then go go gadget precision frame! heck, i've flown with people who love speed frame. Don't know why, but they do. That's what makes the game so much fun. Lots of choice and never knowing what you'll run into.
