Hello fellow (NC) medics Having spent some time mowing assorted enemies down with the Reaper it seemed appropriate it was subject of the next review. Voilà.
Nice review. But personally I find it being a terrible gun overall, don't bother getting it I used it extensively during beta and even bought it for 350 SC but it's just gathering dust since the Gauss Rifle does everything better, even when fully upgraded with Adv. Grip, Comp and optics. It's an obvious long-range rifle, but even then it's very lacking and you lose the versatility of e.g. the Gauss Rifle which still performs just as well if not better at range thanks to its tight burst grouping than the Reaper DMR does in semi auto, making it ideal for only sniping stationary targets.
Cheers Really? Gotta say I haven't got the gear for the Gauss so I've not got the basis for a comparison. I have noticed a comparative level of suck when trying to hit guys moving fast at range though. o7
Reaper is almost a Battle / Scout Rifle : best used to snipe semi-auto. Outside that niche it offers nothing.
I rarely use Semi on my Reaper, I use 3.4x sights and I use it when the approach to a base, and switch to the Gauss with 2x when I get closer, and the GR-22 with 1x when we finally enter buildings.
Actually about the same here. I did originally put a 6X sight on my Reaper but found the bullet drop too harsh to make it much use so swapped to 3.4X, Gauss S for medium range then GR-22 with 1X The main reason I've barely used the Reaper since though is getting sick of Revive Steals and discovering how insanely good Engineers are.
Thanks for sharing! Great skills After some very frustrating days with this weapon, it slowly gets better...at the beginning the recoil is hard to cope with, but it "just" needs constant mouse pulling. That and some coolness on the battlefield to prevent emptying the short magazine in 2 seconds A weapon for enthusiasts!
Selective editing helps Once you've settled into it the Reaper has a nice feel. I certainly miss its punch when using other weapons - tend to think 'aww I would've got that guy...' XD
