Vehicle Resource-Nerf

I regret putting certs into a vehicle I can only use 15 mins/hour.

    1) My suggestion to Noobs getting into this game is do not dump any certs into vehicles unless you are comfortable with the new resource restrictions placed on vehicles. You will have the use of your vehicles for 15 minutes/hour or less depending on what you are doing, unless what you are doing is driving around the Warpgate in circles.

    2) I am wondering if the desired outcome SOE is looking for is to turn Nerf-side2 into a bunch of infantry grunts stampeding down the lattice-lines from base to base? Inevitably this will be followed by a heavy weapon nerf "cause its too hard to cover open ground running. Why doesn't someone pull a sundy!? Oh wait we can't, no mech resources!"

    3) Why would a tank/sundy driver bother getting involved in an aggressive push when the safer (and more boring) bet is to hang back and let the human wave take the damage during a zerg then swoop in later for the xp?

To SOE I say youv'e attracted guys like me from games like "World of Tanks" because you had a nice battle environment, lots of multiple threats to think about for a vehicle driver which WoT is missing. But I've been disappointed with the way the game has been digressing in the short time Ive been here, maybe it's time to move on.

Any suggestions? Are there any games out there where vehicles can be used for more than 15 minutes/hour of gameplay?

So much of this. There are dozens of different games for all of the infantry lovers out there. there is only 1 true Combined arms games out there right now and its PS2. every update sees PS2 go the way of BF3 in the semse that you guys are calling this a CA game, buts its nothing more than a giant COD with vehicles sprinkled here and there for advertisements sake.

STOP LISTENING TO THE INFANTRY CROWD. THEY COMPLETELY LACK PERSPECTIVE!!!!!

Prepare yourself for "L2P" statements from dedicated infantry players who think they should be able to solo MBT's/Sunderers and be one man armies in a MMO combined arms game. Just remember your tanking playstyle will be looked down upon on Forumside by these infantry centered players so you best prepare yourself. I myself use LOL Dogs and memes to keep them away, but use what ever you need to survive on the forums and make your point my fellow tanker.:D

I'm almost glad I mostly abandoned vehicles a couple months ago. If I still mained them i don't think I would have been able to handle these changes.

I've said it before, but tweak the resource system as follows:

    1) More territory ==> More resources (as is current)
    2) More population ==> LESS resources

This would rebalance the mechanic so that outnumbered defenders would have a chance.

    It's not THAT bad...
It's not too bad when you have a single friend.
Fighting at places that give a certain resource you want.

As I stated in another thread... I had one single guy with me and for a few hours playing, we pulled out nonstop one after each other, MAX, Liberators, Harassers, Magriders, Lightning, and that's prolly it...(also many Proxy mines - got it to 40 from 11, ~20-25 tank mines, 5C4, and a few sticky and normal grenades)
The sunderers are pretty expensive, but I didn't need to pull one out at all...
I am on the least populated faction on the server.
    No boosts or subscriptions.

Could it be better? Yes, but it isn't THAT bad..
I kinda wish it was just a tad bit better so I have more vehicles to kill.. Though, during the time, there was an endless amount of TR vehicles to kill.. Not to say I killed them all myself, that didn't happen. I died a bunch of times, yet, I was still able to keep pulling.
Thing is, I was the driver 70-80% of the time.

So... I don't know what to tell you. SOE will get their data and tweak it if needed.
IMO ,the MAX should be reduced in cost by around 50-100 resources... And the flash by 50..
  7. Loegi

So, you have to use it? Just saying that having to use it less than or equal to 15 minutes isn't really a limitation, and certainly not in the way you're most likely meaning it.

And this is the only way I can see it working with the everybody gets to use tanks method. This doesn't seem to be the resource's fault to me.
  8. Jetlag

If I log on and feel like playing a session in my tank I should be able to, I have invested certs in timers and everything else so i can do just that if i choose to (or used to). If I cant play the way I want to why would i keep playing your game SOE.
If I run out of resources Im not going to go play infantry if im not in the mood for that, instead im just going to turn planetside off, apparently SOE want less people to play their game go figure.

More and more often I am logging off not because I have had enough fun for the day but because ive run out of a particular resource.
  9. Serell

Yeah, the prices on the stuff for vehicles and MAXs are way too high to justify their costs when you can't use them that often.
BUT YOU SHOULDN'T BE USING THEM OFTEN. Tank zergs are NO fun. No one should be able to be drive a vehicle 24/7.

DO NOT make vehicles easier to get, but lower all the prices for the weapons on them. I mean, why would I dump 1000 certs for a weapon on my MAX which you can't play as often when I can get a weapon for one of my normal infantry, which I can always play, for the same or lower price.
  10. LT_Latency

It's because it's not really CA when tanks get to ROLFSTOMP INF. They would need to nerf tanks to hell and back to have it be even with infantry as a constant spawm unit.

They are limited because they are strong.

I have never played it, but ARMA games are suppose to be hyper realistic, so i assume vehicles pwn infatnry there
  11. schapand

So for laughs I download the latest nerf-update(13?... I've lost track) after not playing for a week. Thought what the hell I'll pull armor and go look for a fight, but nope...no resources, not nearly enough. I ask myself, why would SOE put a game out there and nerf-update it to the point where all I want to do is log-off after not being able to play the part of the game I enjoy the most and have sweated the xp to cert up my vehicles for?

II don't sweat the threats be it C4 mines AV turrets and lockons or air threats, Thats what makes the game good. Is taking the fun away going to encourage players to stay? I expect the grunts get excited when they off me for a few hundred xp. I like getting into the fight to in my vehicle so WTF SOE...

I don't get it. SOE: Is making your vehicle player-base leave and look for other games part of the business plan???

Why would any player spend 1 xp on a vehicle they cannot use? What is the point?
  12. LT_Latency

You are only thinking of it from your side, What is the point of infantry fighting hard to blow up a tank only to know it going to repawn and come back in 15 seconds.

There are tons of resources in this game if you use the all. INF, VECH and AIR. By the time you use all the other 2 your first one should be recharge.

If you choose to only use one resource you want a very focused play style and it help to pay for that. I don't wait much for resources but I pay a monthly sub
  13. Ranik

    Fixed that for you.

Vehicles are now twice as expensive. And in nearly the weakest state they have ever been. With their entire playstyle now restricted to glorified artillery.

Follow your own advice and try not to be so biased.
  14. Serell

And yet they're still better than Infantry (which they should be).
  15. LT_Latency

Vehicles are not weak if I kill less the 5 or 6 people every single time I get a prowler I am pissed off I did so bad.
  16. Ranik

And yet infantry have a far better and more diverse playstyle compared to what is now glorified artillery vehicles. So no they aren't really better than infantry. They are a headache to use at this point and force you into completely narrow gameplay.

They have only been nerfed for 6 months straight and then given double the cost without any off the old nerfs being undone.. Yes they are in fact weak if you have to play an MBT like an artillery platform.
  17. Serell

The moment tanks can get damaged by small arms fire is when you can complain about Infantry being better than tanks. As a tank you are completely immune to a lot of damage.
  18. Ranik

The moment the majority of infantry AV is given a resource cost you can then complain about tanks being better than infantry.

The moment AV mana turrets stop hitting as hard as a decimator from 500+ m out you can complain about tanks being better than infantry.

The moment that killing someone carrying C4/AT mines makes them lose those items you can complain about tanks being better than infantry.

As is you have no point. Playing an MBT is basically trying to avoid dieing by the many weapons the single most played class uses that can hurt you and cost nothing all delivered by someone who can respawn for free endlessly. Or trying to avoid being insta gibbed by entitled jet packing or hot dropping solo players because you actually tried to stop and aim for 3 seconds in what is the most expensive ground vehicle in the game.

Playing an MBT is less effective, less fun, and less varied than playing a harrasser. Despite the cost disparity.

Vehicle resources need to go up. They are still spammed and make for wretched game play.
  20. Ranik

    Fine by me.

Kick their cost up to 550-600 resources.

Increase their natural resistance to C4

    Buff their armor.

Un-Nerf HE / HEAT blast radius and splash.

That sound good to you?
