Lasher, Lancer, jump jet MAX, Thresher and Magrider from PS1 because these PS2 versions have suffered death by committee. Somehow I get the feeling they'll implement bullet drop to energy weapons next. Any ideas on how to bring back the alien tech back to vanu?
The Vanu never really had alien technology on the field. Everything they commonly fielded was reverse-engineered. A hover tank? PS1 was a game where every flying vehicle could easily hover. It also creaked and groaned as it drove. Their only noteworthy achievement was mimicking the Maelstrom's lashing effect. Their plasma - which wasn't even the primary skill of the Ancients from what we're seen - was pretty comparative to other faction's weapon damage output. They couldn't even shoot their weapons under water.
A flying MAX unit in Ps2's environments, would vastly outshine both TR & NC's maxes for capabilities. You have a static Max, and a One-directional Shield Max, vs a Flying Max able to bypass stairways, past land mines, and over cover. You'd easily have situations where VS could float a Max, or directly fly it, where only a Light Assault could reach, but with the firepower & armor of a MAX unit, which had the primary threats being on the ground while it flies. Excessive advantage there.
Flight suit, on ability slot: Halves the MAX health, but gives it increased running acceleration and the ability to fly into the air like the icarus jetpack and land safely to an increased heigh. It would still be very strong, but counterable by a single decimator rocket, would be nice to have it as a second MAX ability in a future update... And i don't even play VS that much.
You'd either have the weakest & most useless MAX, or the most potent MAX. IE what ZOE ended up with - either more lethal or nerfed into oblivion..
I would of gone with a form of drifter jumpjets with a maxed out CoF whilst 'flying' and a very limited amount of fuel but otherwise no downsides, as we have seen when you reduce the health pool the upside HAS to be worth it otherwise its just a suicide mode.
So essentially, either incredibly tactical & deadly - or incredibly useless. And the difference is from the other suggestions? A VS Max, who's ability is to fly from Bio Labs, from heights to other heights, and float off: Either brutally useful or brutally useless.
