    Hey everybody,

VC and TVA outfits rode out together in the Amerish Alert tonight, an alert won with a strictly managed victory.
VC rode point with FOG on the initial breach south towards Onatha. Smashing against the NC's northern defenses and holding back their counter attack. As VC fought to contain the NC, we served as a distraction while FOG flanked their defenders and took both southern bases and the generator inside. Following a short fight, the base was taken and the FOG-VC platoon advanced south and west to take surrounding territories and an occasional resecure back north.

Meanwhile. in the north west, EMLD performed a Gandalf on multiple TR platoons attempting to take NC arsenal with the occasional call for reinforcements to push back a successful TR assault. During the Alert, NC arsenal did not fall.

VC, FOG, ISK and UBAD continued to press west to Auraxicom Network, Rockslide and the nearby territories and held them. VC put Galaxy transports to good use as we bounced around territories and swiftly recovered order following our actions. We continued to harass the TR and NC while still resecuring our territories and held the line.

The inevitable massed assault, 10 minutes before the end of the Alert came from both fronts. TR and NC armor rolled against multiple territories. TVA coordinated the defenses, keeping a keen balance of allocated manpower. The final NC infantry push in Rockslide was crushed using a max crash which completely stalled the NC move through the mountains.

One of the last fights, to resecure Auraxicom Network Substation against a TR platoon had VC taking aircraft to assist from the air. We expected ground resistance but instead got a massed air flotilla of liberators and mosquitoes. VC engaged the enemy in the air and drove back the liberators while taking heavy losses. Our intervention cleared the way for FOG and friends to push on the ground against defending infantry and the point was retaken with just a few seconds left on the clock.

Throughout the Alert, TVA members coordinated movement, requested and got backup where needed and achieved multiple objectives. VC took part in many quick response operations while supporting our sibling outfits by flanking the enemy or by stalling their vehicle advance.

A busy night and one we enjoyed allot.

I'm writing this because the alert on Indar last night goes down as one of my best experiences in Planetside 2 so far.

EU Miller, Indar Alert, May 2nd 2013

[VC] Vanu Corp had 2 squads in a pretty much full platoon with [ISK] Immortal Serial Killers.
There was also a squad of the [UBAD] guys following our movements via Teamspeak.

At the start of the alert we were in the East.
I joined the platoon with Ruvan leading our two squads in a hold/push from NS Offices to Rashnu Tower.
I took control of Delta squad and when we moved to Indar Excavation PL role for the [VC] squads.
[VC] had two squads in the East, [ISK] had two squads in the west.

The East, specifically Indar Excavation came under heavy and increasing attack. We grouped the full platoon at Indar Excavation in response.

    Indar Comm Array

At some point [VC] did attempt to capture Indar Comm Array (ICA)
This was not a successful action, in the sense we failed to retake the base.
However a small force assaulting ICA kept an enemy platoon tied up there.
Throughout the alert we noticed a small force kept ICA under pressure.

From this action I would note that we managed to hack out several sunderers and deployed them on a slope.
Even though we benefited from the night, the uphill push was a terrible location.
We do not expect success against an enemy prepared to defend. They can hunt sunderers very effectively from the top of the hill.

Let us move on to the highlights of the event.

    Indar Excavation

At Indar excavation, we spawned at a base being heavily pressed by NC.
Teams broke out Sunderer hunting - LA jumping from the landing pads being very effective.
We cleared the points and then started to press the enemy out of the base itself.

With the enemy between us and Quartz Ridge with many Sunderers behind cover we formed up a squad of Lightnings.
These grouped north of Indar excavation and then broke out from the base, pushed south east and rolled into the flank of enemy forces.

This was massively effective. Enemy armour had been dealt with by our infantry. The remaining vehicles were sunderers in cover providing infantry spawns.
NC Infantry that was engaged in an Infantry battle.

A quick decisive strike was effective before they could rearm to engage us - or respawn ready.
With both their line and spawns broken NC forces were mopped up quickly.

We took the lightnings plus flashes, couple of sunderers and magriders and rolled armour across the NW.
Pushing into Coramed we discovered NC ([JNJ]?) with a Sunderer behind rocks near the base and a footzerg coming down the hills from Indar Comm Array.
    Really bad timing for them.

Connery was mostly secure by the time we arrived, however there was a mad dash to Camp Connery then a return via Alkali Mining to the west.

    Indar Excavation 2

The ISK squads had requested assistance back at IE.
[VC] had a couple of sunderers, the lightning squad down a few lightnings, up a couple of magriders with at least one liberator in the air.

Our situation report was an enemy armour column at the Platoon way point.
We rolled a scout up to the flats near Coramed to see a mixed force of NC armour between the bases.
We formed up and rolled into position to create a firing line across the flats.

Long range fire engaged enemy armour. We were able to focus fire and pull back easily for repairs.
With NC armour rapidly withdrawing we pursued briefly.

NC had assembled many sunderers near IE. Only one was deployed but maybe 8 vehicles were tightly packed behind buildings.
We regrouped and moved to engage with our armour. The area was best described as an ants nest of NC pouring out and around their spawn.

With enemy infantry covering all approaches our anticipated life expectancy was low.
Having time for only a few shots we engaged any enemy clusters and the most visible sunderers. At least two were destroyed.
We pushed in on foot a couple of times, their spawn had been taken out and were mopped up.

There was an intense fight to hunt down sunderers and retake capture points.
Several flights of LA jump jetted down to C to first push out the enemy and then hold the point.
Friendly sunderers were bought in from <base to the north> as Indar Excavation & Coramed were under direct pressure.

With the base secured after intense fighting we once again pulled out the lightning team.
The goal was to push into the west flank and drive diagonally towards Quartz Ridge.

The VS attack was pushing the NC infantry back and we assisted clearing up pockets.

    he Rock

There are several rock outcroppings between IE and QR.
With our available armour told to push we bought a Sunderer and held our chosen Rock with a strong AA and AV position.
For about 30 minutes we then held and prevented NC forces gaining a foothold at Indar Excavation.

The ISK squads hacked south from Dahaka taking Indar Comm Array and other TVA platoons re secured territories in the north so that we held our line across the northern half of the map and pushed territories to the south.

Numerous armour and small groups attempted to get past us. But time and again when an update on our position was requested we were able to report that we are holding steady, position and base secure.

The attempts to break out with heavier armour and sunderers was met with lancer and AV fire. They didn't stand much hope of breaking out.

    Retaking the Rock
The rapid dashes by flash and harasser were far more successful in reaching our lines. A couple of harassers did manage it and a replacement Sunderer was needed a few times.
Notably an infantry dash assisted by flashes timed well with a couple of harassers got our Sunderer down, and our position overrun. The NC took our rock!

This was rectified by combined arms pushing back into the point and a nearly suicidal Sunderer push as we crashed back into our rock and re secured the area.

    Alert. Victory
With less than 10 minutes to go ISK had a hack on NS Secure Data Labs.
With two squads in place and only a few minutes left on the timer we were concerned about a strong NC re secure attempt.
We left our rock to deploy at NS Secure Data Labs.

Any NC were already overwhelmed. No platoon came to re secure.
The base was captured literally the second before the end of the alert.

Bringing us a Victory at 40%+ territory control on Indar against NC and TR forces that earlier had pushed almost to our warpgate.

Thanks to ISK for the platoon.
UBAD for the additional squad in support.

The other TVA platoons on Indar for holding the centre and pushing the west.

Everyone else has surely had a Harasser night.

We might have rolled around in them a bit too ...

How old are you guys, and how many of you usually is online?
  10. Nody

Unlike Stanis who's the big head around here I'm not going to write an essay as I'm a simple grunt who shots lazors at the targets I'm pointed towards so I'll keep it simple.

To sum up what's it is like to be in VC can best be done by the action experienced in an earlier alert today on Amerish from this new grunt's perspective. We had taken back Raven Landing from the NC and was getting ready to roll the squad out to our next target with about 45 min left until the alert was ending. Suddenly we get two galaxies of NC coming in dropping people off, a few Reavers and a Lib saying hello; now in a normal zerg this would spell a lost base in about 30s but we ended up with a hard fought fight ending with us kicking them off the rock again.

As we're sitting up there taking shots at TR waiting to see if NC wants to send wave 2 in there TR decides they want to say hello. This is all started with Rednex coming in with about 10 Mosquitoes quickly working down our AA MAXes followed by Galaxies and a AMS rolling up with multiple MAXes going for the cap. All props to Rednex and their allies; they fought hard and well but in the end we got their AMS and grinded them down reversing the cap with only 5s to go!

Was there screaming of obscenities about the origin of their parents? No. Was there jubilation and screaming over how big our e-dicks were for pulling it off at the 5s mark? No. Was there talk of melons and people's skin color? No. Because that's not how VC rolls; they expect you to do your part; have enough brains to execute it and take it all in stride as things ebb and flow. Most importantly though they expect you to be mature, have fun and if you end up getting dropped in the water take the piss out of the Gal pilot and get right back in there kicking ***, taking names and putting a knife in that smurf's back while actually being mature enough not to need turn to curses used by a 14 year old kid who thinks he's tough.

If that sounds like your type of fun then VC may be for you.
  11. Flag

Age? Uh, 20-40 and some outliers, or something around those numbers. I honestly don't know. It's not something we really think about. :)
    <--- That gal pilot.
Uh, yes. I totally meant to drop you in the water.

    Hi everybody!

VC will be having our 10 year anniversary meet on the weekend of May31st - June 3rd in Nottingham. I'd like to extend an invite to any PS1 and PS2 players who fancy coming down and having a few beers and a bit of craic with us.

It would be great to meet a few more players and swap some war stories. If you're interested send me, DrNickRiviera, a pm either here or on the VC forums http://www.vanucorp.co.uk and I'll let you know the details.

All the best and take it easy,
    DrNick.
  13. Ruvan

I'd say the mean age is the somewhere in late 20s, maybe early 30s.

We have a lot of PS1 vets. As that game is 10 years old now I think most of them are probably in their 30s. Most of the guys recruited in PS2 are early-mid to late 20s. We have a few people younger than 21-22 but not many. I think we even have the odd person in their 50s.

Sorry but not going to answer the question about how many of us are online because it provides TR/NC outfits with intel that might be used against us.
  14. Stanis

A lot of us are in our thirties have been playing PS for some time.
We definitely have a mature outlook towards gaming, understanding that kids, family, girlfriends, wives have to be managed well to achieve maximum gaming time.

I'm going to repeat what the first post says.
We will typically have a couple of squads running most nights. Outfit nights we get more.
We are part of the TVA alliance meaning you can expect us to be working closely with other platoons or at platoon force.

Last night we were part of an Open armour platoon rolling around North Western indar.

Multiple outfits provided a few troops, any VS were encouraged to join.
This was in support of and supported by other Infantry Platoons from The Vanu Accord outfits on Miller.

Fun times had during the Indar alert.
  16. YonmaN

    Hey guys

Tonight VC teamed up with our TVA brothers and worked Amerish's alert and Indar. In Amerish we had an intense fight at Tumas against multiple platoons defending the installation. We split our force with alpha squad mixed in with RPS holding the SCU and bravo handling the internal shield generator. Alpha was constantly engaged due to proximity with the spawn room, bravo handled a lively court yard with TR constantly attempting to oust their control of the superstructure.

Some TR broke our blockade of the spawns and successfully took the southern foothold. Our few defenders there were overwhelmed and we were now faced with a massive armor zerg pushing on our position. Bravo and Alpha, while still keep their objectives formed up and repelled the armor and infantry reinforcements assisted by ISK from the air and RPS and LDD on the ground. After an intense fight, the base was won and the TR beat back.

We then switched to Indar to participate in a coordinated drop on Camp Connery. Even though the maneuver did not win us the base, eventually, we did manage to establish a beachhead and fight for their territory for some time before being pushed back.

So we changed tactics: we drew armor out and engaged the TR from the flanks crashing into their defenses and bombarding their infantry to bits. Eventually we broke through to Benson construction and took the base alongside infantry and vehicles from TVA and other outfits. Next we began a staggered assault on Camp Connery, this time on foot using smoke for cover combined with night vision equipment which made for an exhilarating and hectic fight.

    Good times :D

    Had fun with the Lattice?
Personally I know we lose a bit of strategic game play until we get more continents and an inter-continental lattice working.

We've had some great lattice inspired fights. The scale of battles has been huge.

I took our platoon from Indar Excavation to Coramed.
We established flank sunderers south and a little North West of concentrated enemy forces.
We had squads push rock to rock creating cover with smoke where necessary until close to the ridge that is the edge of the Coramed plain.
We had squads using supressive fire.

Two liberators were equipped with Zephyrs and with our positions ready they commenced a bombing run coming low over the peak of Indar Comm Array.
The libs bombed a heavily smoked enemy position causing disarray.

Four squads pushed the ridge and cleared it.
Squad Beacons and Squad Deploy gave us two 'free respawns' back into the fight if needed. We were running medic heavy.
The enemy initial enemy sunderer was dropped quickly, the second was taken out before dead eenmy forces could redeploy.

Our infantry forces pushed to the walls of Coramed. Smoke always between our troops and enemy forces.
At this time friendly armour in the area despite being asked to Push Now realised they weren't getting locks/shot at and came in.
About a dozen sunderers turned up soon after.

A single decisive tactical action taking a ridge.

You could say we're enjoying the battles !

Good alert battle on Amerish tonight, VC and allied forces won the alert, with the TR pop being 5-10% higher than VS :)
You know you piss the enemy off, when ESFs starts to ***** crash our aa/av nest :p
  19. isilyan

A good fight on Amerish tonight, VC and allied forces removed the TR lock:)
  20. Stanis

Followed by a fun couple of hours on Indar as the TR pushed for the Indar lock while the alert took place on Amerish.
An alert which VS won :)
