Does this mean you are able to carry 4 AT mines? Before I commit the certs to it I thought I'd better check! Thanks
you can go up to 5 mines with rank 2 at mines . method : -get utility pouch -get c4 2 and at mines 2 -put your at mines -ressuply at your sunderer -put c4 on each at mine wait for the hud blinking xp
Does it just increase the maximum amount your allowed to carry or does it let you carry all of it at once?
It increases the max you can carry at once. I believe its 5 AT Mines, 4 C4, or 3 AP Mines, assuming max certs in the explosive plus utility pouch. You have to resupply to switch between the three types of explosive.
It doesn't let you carry all of them at once. However, what you can deploy is directly affected by what you can carry. If you can carry 5 AT mines, if you deploy a 6th, the 1st one disappears.
The Utility Pouch is a bit overrated to be honest. Flak Armor is going to be more helpful for an anti-vehicle roles since three mines will be enough to kill anything except vehicles with several ranks of Mine Guard. The second-highest rank of Flak Armor increases your effective health by 64% against explosions which is enough to allow you to react instead of getting oneshot. If you get the 1000 cert max-rank Flak Armor you effectively have double health against explosives.
I'm waiting to see how the upcoming mine/C4 changes shake out before taking the utility pouch above rank 2. Currently the fourth tank mine is worth it (imo) because it'll let you kill almost any sunderer you encounter in the field. Nothing's more annoying than getting to a pivotal AMS and dropping three mines on it, only to discover the guy had mine guard four or whatever. In the future the best way to attack AMSes as infantry might be to use three C4 bricks instead of mines so at least first rank of the pouch might be nice as a situational piece.
Don't underestimate it. Let's say you are defending a tower and you have Utility Pouch 5. You can cover both entrances with AT mines, both stairs and point A with claymores and save C4 for two another vehicles.
Or I can wear Flak and not get destroyed by the typical barrage of HEAT rounds and ESF rocket pods. Also, I won't have spent a ludicrous number of certs on pouch 5 for something so situational. Oh, and you can still do the above with loadout swapping.
So you can place 5 mines, 3 claymores and 4 C4 without UP5, just by loadout swapping? Damn, that's insane. To each their own. I watch the sky and don't walk in front of tanks, so I don't feel forced to use Flak Armor.
What's more insane is dropping such an insane amount of resources in one location. Sure would be interesting to hear how you plan to keep that up. I'd also love to see a log of your causes of death since Zephers, AV turrets and HEAT rounds are very common ways to die and can often be avoided with flak armor. When sniping with the AV turret I can easily distinguish between flak users and non-flak users simply by noting that flak users don't get oneshot by the missile slamming into them from an unexpected angle.
