Trying to understand a particular mentality

Use your mini map no matter what style of play you adapt.

If you like running and gunning you are looking at LA with a Carbine (laser sight w/ low CoF) in most situations, shotguns are ok but the lack of ability to engage medium range opponents is a drawback. You can also run and gun with an SMG (laser and Silencer) infiltrator but you need to be good at peeking. Redeploy if the enemy ratio gets to around 70 - 30 you are 2 to 1'd and probably going to get farmed. BTW iHacks twitch stream is an amazing LA clinic if you can catch him on check it out.

If K/D is important get a tank or snipe, tanks get more kills so more SPH, sniping causes more tears.

If SPH/ certs is most important Medics, MAXs and engies are best.

Vehicles are great too, but like MAXs you can run out of nanites if you aren't careful and therefore aren't as sustainable.

(WARNING: if it's too long for you to read trough thoughtfully, just skip it, otherwise it will sound like ******** of a waste of time.)

All tactics work. When it comes to the "mentality", the better word for it is "entertainment value" which for each is different.

If you're super-human-level skilled, then jump in to the middle of the biggest enemy group you can find.
When you're not that drunk, however...

I think the main issue relies on your playstyle. Grasp that, and only then choose what you want from the game, be it the score (feel for power, importance), impact (feel for accomplishment, reward, concept), or pure entertainment (FUN ;varies person to person), then seek the best way to achieve that (while considering that you're not playing a singleplayer game, a.k.a that there are other ppl around you affected by your actions).

    1. For me, personally, I'm not into having my name on top of the scoreboard, I'm into the (impact and) fun, rather, for which i need good graphics, ppl, and concept and excecution from within the game. Also, the enviroment in which you play the game in - comfort of the chair, the mouse and keyboard, the room temperature, the atmosphere, mood etc -, if we were to go really deep on this matter, all that plays a crucial role in how you percieve the game. Illustrative extreme examples: when you're hungry, nothing good will come from trying to enjoy anything, when you just got informed that you lost your job, and will lose everything of importance because of the loan... (just to remind you how good things are for you that all the **** i just said doesn't even remotly apply to you)

    2. I usually join a squad/platoon lead by a charismatic leader. Follow orders and contribute to the bigger picture (impact), which to me equals FUN! When the leader knows the game, and you don't disobey orders by running in first as a medic or running too far away from the team, you probably never get a death penalty, bec when 48 players actually work together, medics make sure no1 gets the death counted (when you're dead and a medic revives you, it's like you never actually died). To me, that is hell of a fun, and you will always get some kills if you do your part right.
That is when there is such a squad/platoon available, ofc - they are mostly full or private (or non-existant at the time).

Conclusion: I really put my mind into it when playing (or when doing anything else i like for that matter), and i need to see the bigger picture for that to work, not just the narrow concept of being the best scorer, or in the idyll place when playing drunk (i've never done that, though).

So, as a whole, it's not what others do to keep them happy, it's about you, what makes you have a great time playing the game? (this is where the "mentality" gets switched to "entertainment value," because the mentality depends on the purpose, which in a game is certainly entertainment, which, in turn, depends on means of how to get to it (for some it's literally trolling and making others feel bad), the value specific to your preference)

    1. If you think good K/D alone it is, start camping from your spawnrooms, never going out nor dying to any1 nor suiciding but redeploying to another spawnroom just before it gets taken.
    2. If something else is your cup of tea (which it should be, you're a human, still*), then find the best way to achieve it - know yourself!
