Hello guys, i want to invest in my Max and thought what weapon and suit slot i should go, i will run with the default AI gun and then 1 weapon of choice( depends if one is on sale) . What about the suit slots? I thought about the nano repair thingie because i HATE it when i get in a max and those engis don't repair me or they are no. Flak armor seems a bit meh, it don't work on direct hits and you still will die to C4. Idk about the resistance thingie which lowers your dmg because it doesn't sound much help at all. And what about the weapons? When i will buy two (right and left arm) i think i will go for Onslaught + mercy (CQB+ longer range). What would be the best to get first? Thanks in advance
Jump in the VR and give all the guns a tinker with. I have rank 3 armor repair and picked up a right arm Onslaught on sale a week or so ago to go with the default M1 Cycler on the left. Having quite a lot of fun with it considering I haven't sunk any other certs into the max yet. Will probably grab the left Onslaught at some point soon. Despite the murcy nurf recently they still feel quite nice at ranges the others struggle a bit with - at least on VR firing range.... no idea about shooting at targets in actual combat
I have full nanite repair. Flak is only usefull against rocket poders. But i use nanites anyway. As for weapons i have 1 onslaught, 2 mutilators and 2 mercies. Mercies are more versatile. Just be aware that there's a bug with maxes where your bullets will go through the target not damaging it. Happened twice with me in my last game session.
Kinetic armour boosts resistance against bullets SIGNIFICANTLY. Flak armour should be your first investment. It now absorbs a useful amount of damage from C4s and AI mines are laughable at full rank. Regen is kind of a luxury I swap to at terminals if no engis are around. I have all certed to full, and since Flak was buffed in a recent patch, I've found myself using that much more lately; Kinetic is not to be laughed at, I don't even know the numbers now - but before it was buffed, it granted an extra effective 3333 health against bullets. You will learn soon enough that the resistance bonuses are worth more in the battlefield than regen armour.. which is suited more to slow, small fights. As for weapons, you seem to know what's best for you. No one can tell you what to use for AI now that onslaughts were buffed, and while mercys were nerfed, you are right in believing they are appropriate for that edge at range. All that can be said is: Don't use Heavy Cyclers, and don't use Nano Regen as your primary defence.
You cant go wrong with Nanites and charge. Currently running nano 4 and loving it. Repairs pretty fast. Charge is something I do a lot of frequently, so worth the points there certing into it. Keep in mind with the upcoming Max changes you might want to hold on to your certs
Suggested early goals: Wait for Mercy on offhand or drop smedbux and buy 2 (best after 10m, still good 0-10) Burster mainhand Lv4 Flak (effective and cheap) Lv3 Kinetic (good EHP boost. fwiw, lv3 and lv4 give the same HP/Cert value) Lv2 Regen (more is nice but a point sink, up to you) lv3 Charge (use it 9/10 spawns, just starts getting pricy after 3) lv3 Lockdown (when live. The Cert-to-Power ratio plummets each level, hard to justify more early on.) Just over 3k certs (with lv6 acquire) if you pay American dollars for your guns. Long goal: Mercy x2 no contest + Extended mags 2x Burster + Extended mags 2x Frac (Also 2x Pounder if you're a good shot, I prefer them unless crowd spamming from a hill) lv5 Flak lv4 Kinetic lv4 Regen lv4 Charge lv4 Lockdown Oh, and probably max out at Acquire timer 6. Not too pricy and, with practice, you'll usually do that long or longer.
Im not sure if the combo Onslaught+ mercy would work out ;/, would be in theory a beast though. If not Mercy+mercy still works... Hope the bug get fixed soon, i will buy 1 mercy arm for sure but should i go with double mercy then or choose merc + another choice? Gonna wait a bit till lockdown is out and then will see Gonna buy all weapons anyway with smedbucks, what suit option you can prefer me? I kinda want a allround thingie because i don't want to put SO much cert in it yet (with so much i mean not 2k+).
MAX, or anything really, you want to commit but you do have to begin somewhere. I'd say, for under 2k, start with: timer 6 Flak 4 Kinetic 3 Regen 2 Charge 3 That gets you in just shy of 2k. With mercies, bursters and fracs you'll be able to go either light solo (mercy/frac/burster regen), outdoor supported (frac/pounder flak), indoor supported (mercy/frac flak/kinetic). Learning about battle flow and what to pull from the equipment terminal will do more for you than specializing and the broad base will get you the flexibility you need to do it right. Kinetic/Flak is a real tossup. Sometimes guys will nickle and dime you, grind you down. Other times HA will back away and pop you with rockets. Most people say just go with Flak but, I find, that Charge solves a lot of the problems that the Kinetic hole creates. 60/40 flak usage I guess but when it's time for Kinetic, it'll really swing the tide in your favor. I used to run regen 100% of the time but now that I've been picking gear for the moment, my survival and kills have gone up.
So what can you prefer me for that typical indoor and outside fights (AI), after reading some comments it looks like dual mercy and kinetic or regen would be the best and flak is situational. What can you prefer me for AV? Pounder or fracture? (pounder got terrible drop and fracture do less damage)
For me it goes one of two ways. Small fights and big fights. If I'm in a small fight, regen 9 of 10 times. As long as you're going 1v1 or 1v2, you'll live pretty much no matter what so the regen will keep you topped off between encounters. In a big fight it's really situational. I find, in a big fight indoor where I've got engineer support, I survive longer with kinetic or, more correctly, I can stand in open fire longer while being repaired as most people will just hose you down with bullets. However, enough players prefer flak due to how often HA pull out rockets or LA drop C4. It's really a personal decision. Outdoor, it's a little different. Unsupported? Regen. Supported? Flak almost always. If I'm outdoors and supported I'm usually bombarding vehicles or keeping the skies clear and, then, the biggest threats are going to be from explosive attacks. As far as Pounder vs Frac, I'd suggest most people go Frac. Personally, I use Pounders more often but I'm also some sort of freak where my accuracy with arcing weapons is better than with normal ones. For your average user, Pounders are hard to get used to and Frac is just so versatile. You can hit really far away, can hit hovering libs/galaxies and, most importantly, can more easily defend yourself against infantry. Don't ever think Fracs will be a smart replacement for Mercies, they aren't, but you can at least 1v1 guys and live to run away for repairs.
So i think i will go with kinetic first because i will participate more in bigger fights since i already got a good certed heavy and engineer. Do Fractures got a drop or do they alway fly in a straight line?
Mostly straight with a sharp drop right at the end. Almost like the rockets run out of fuel and, plop, down they go. But if you're attacking at that range, hitting is a crapshoot anyway.
Is that what it is? I thought there was some weird COF effect going on with my mercies so the bullets were only hitting the outer edge and thus going around the dude right in front of me (no I don't mean the aim dead zone spot, it was against targets at varying ranges), been driving me nuts.
