Is the TX-2 better than the TX-1? In what fashion? 500 certs represent a lot of farming but at the same time, it is the only option for close quarter combat so I am wondering shall I start the long count?
If you want CQC combat there really isn't a better sidearm in the game other than the default TX-1. The TX-2 represents a better ability to down targets at mid range more reliably. I don't think there is any way to unlock the TX-1 FB yet. This should help:
It does lose the 3-shot burst, but that isn't the only reason it is poorer in CQC. The Emperor also fires a lot slower - though these drawbacks also what makes it more effective at longer ranges. Overall I think they both have their niche, and ultimately it is up to personal preference & skill as to which sidearm is better. I myself am far better with the Emperor than I am with the repeater, despite its 'on paper' advantages. The question you have to ask yourself is whether you are wanting a pistol that is more versatile (and in my opinion easier to aim), or one that is less versatile, but more effective up close and personal. Trial the Emperor for 30 minutes and see which option you prefer. If 30 minutes isn't long enough, you could also make a VS character and fiddle around with the Beamer - the Emperor's closest comparison.
You lose a lot of fire rate. It's up to you: While the TX-2 makes you effective at ranges past 5m you will trade in CQC ability due to the loss of burst fire and general spamminess. Personally I think it's an option looking into. Since I primarily play LA I often find myself on low ammo counts and I want to still be effective at most ranges where my Leopard would be impractical. While it is not a TR Magshot or Rebel it should do the job. Trial it for 30 minutes, see if it is something for you. Personally I'm interested since I don't do CQC all that often, but I was hoping for more of a Rebel kind of sidearm.
