To use a T3 implant will cost......

I agree that there are a lot of assumptions here but, I wanted to point out that the frequency they are dropping on the test server may be drastically reduced when it goes live. It's definitely not out of the realm of possibilities and to be frank, I'd expect it from SOE at this point.

New content was released. The majority of the people voicing their opinions are not happy with it. So we are all morons? You are the minority. The same could be said for you.

Have you agreed with all new content SOE has brought out? Have you agreed with all the nerfs and buffs?

Since you answered no, I guess that makes you a moron as well right?
  3. Zorlox

I highly doubt they aren't going to reduce the drops. you're on the test server, obviously they want people getting everything often to test it.
well, its definitely a cert dump, i'd be ok with it if they actually adjusted all other prices to go along with the new cert dump.

tbh, there's a bunch of fps games that do this with their items and I tend to last a good half hour to check out what kind of gameplay I'm going to lose out on before I delete it. Though what I don't get is that they mention player retention a lot and ignore one of the most horrendous grinds in the history of fps games as a reason or just don't care. They did say they want the grind to last a good ten years, to keep people playing for the desired lifetime of the game, during beta, which is when I mentioned it would turn off or burn out a good chunk of gamers.

Do you understand how quotes work? No. Ok, well I was quoting a person that was commenting about the irrational complaints about one aspect of the implants, i.e. they cost too much, and they will drain you of certs.

The only ones that seem to think that the cost is "not a problem" and that its not a complete cert sink are the only ones that know how often they drop.

If you take the context of what the person I quoted said and what I said it is not about EVERYONE that doesn't like implants, but the people that are saying they are a cert sink without knowing how easy they are obtained FOR FREE.... but you know, reading and understanding how quotes work is hard. Might as well put words in my mouth to make you feel better, right?

how did you come up with these numbers? based on what? there is no direct relation between station cash and cert costs. sometimes you have items which cost 1000 certs but 700 SC, sometimes you have items for 250 certs vs. 500 SC

and the cert costs for implants will not have to follow the logic of any existing cert vs. SC pricing. its a new feature, and the cost will be custom most probably.

i hear from comments that they fixed the bug where implants didnt drop from kills yet. now is the time to go there and check it out
  6. faykid

it was probably the latest fix. when they first launched implants on PTS, they warned that the drop system didn't work yet due to a bug. glad to hear they fixed it, and glad to hear that the fear was uncalled for. just like i thought. looking forward to the new stuff

Because 50SC / 71 (rounded down, so we get more for certs than SC by a smigin) certs is the SAME ratio as 700SC / 1000 certs

Seriously, you all are either ignorant to the facts, or are trolling. Buying implants with SC or Certs is no different than a rocket launcher or rifle. I'm not jumping to the conclusion that you all are naive, so I'm going with trolling, unless you all can show otherwise.
  8. SharpeShooter

very very few items is 250 certs/500 SC. The majority of items is based around the 700 SC 1000 Cert pricing range. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume the implants will fall in this bracket.

I will pop on PTS and take a look at the drop rate now.

I never put words in your mouth. You are delusional. You said people are morons for jumping on the rage wagon. For what ever reason anyone doesn't like the implant setup, you are calling them morons because they are not happy with it and they are expressing their opinion.

Perhaps it you that doesn't know how quotes work.... See how silly that statement was?

How quotes work on a forum and you calling people morons for not being happy have nothing to do with each other.

Maybe you should slow down and reread what you wrote and what I wrote. You'll see what you are saying is not making any sense.

ok from what I have seen on the test server they drop approximately after every 10th kill (we had Tier 1 implants dropping, no energy boosts as far as I can see). We could not get one to drop from repairing or ressing.

Taking this into account the following math is applicable:

it takes 6 implants to make one "super charger" energy pack which lasts approximately 90 minutes, as such you will need to get about 60-70 kills every 90 minutes to keep your implant running. That's about 0.67-0.78 KPM.

This is more that double for an experienced BR 100 but its going to be a constant struggle for lower BRs.

Furthermore, this random crafting they still have is terrible!
  11. Sandpants

You get 12 certs on log in, a random bunch of certs for ribbons. I think these need to be considered.
You also get 48 if you're a member.

All in all IMO they should consider toning the cert cost down a bit. If it were in the region of 48-5* maybe 60, it sort of gives the "no hassle" incentive for members.

Also seems like everyone is kneejerking to the "P2W" wagon. Incomprehensible.
Non of this makes you better at shooting. Non of this makes your target die faster.
In a real fight, I bet you won't be able to tell the difference between an enemy using an implant or not, not that will stop people from screaming "P2W" in chat. It's a game where a fight can spontaneously grow into a 48vs48 in which case no matter how good you are, unless you are a conservative chicken (who is essentially wasting his time sitting behind a rock or feeding his medics certs) you will die. And every time you die you are wasting implant time. All the time it takes for you to respawn, get back into the fight. All this drains it.
Apart from some very particular cases, these will be insignificant in most fights. They will likely be banned in competitive.

Let go of the panic button and get on with the times children.
  12. faykid

time will show otherwise. 700SC / 1000 certs is one ratio. it doesn't have to be the same. there's also 100 certs/ 250 SC deals. what about those? it could be different from any of those rates
besides, with reported drop rates on PTS, there hardly will be any need for buying, with certs or with SC
  13. Wecomeinpeace

If there is no need to charge them with Certs or SC why do they use batteries then? Those ominous few BR100s who don't know what to do with their certs is not an issue, if they exist at all. So why use a constant draining mechanic like any cheap mobile game then?
That's right, there is no reason. And since SOE is not stupid you can bet your *** that getting people to spend SC on this is the whole point for "batteries" to exist.

Want perfectly fine implants everybody would be happy with? Remove the draining mechanic. I can assure you, nobody would complain. They can still be sold for SC.
  14. MarkAntony

To run a T3 implant will cost a small fraction of that ridiculous number in the OP. Ya'll are forgetting drops.
  15. Covah

Just bring back the PS1 implants system....

    3 or 2 Implants, each one unlock at BR 25, 50, 75 OR BR 50, 100.

And make them PERMANENT : 1000 certs / each or 500 SC.

It is a much better system than it was the first time it was almost introduced into the game. It was clearly a grab for SC and definitely P2W in its earlier iteration. Now P2W is debatable seems very doubtful. The short duration of implants seems to match up with what we have heard were people's average play times. I think a 90 minute charge then a refill to play a bit longer matches up with a lot of players average sessions.

I think implants will be more fun to collect and craft than actually use. In a large chaotic battle their influence will be negligible.
  17. TheKhopesh

See, if energy were rewarded for certs gained (So X amount of energy per 250 XP) it would be acceptable.

I don't think that there should be any consumable that costs certs.
Certs are something that a rare few can afford to just p*ss away on consumables.

Heck, my main character is a BR100 with almost 120,000 certs earned in it's lifetime, and I have a long way to go before I run out of things to spend my certs on.
Heck, I even paid SC for 99% of my weapons, and still I have tons of stuff to spend certs on.
  18. PastalavistaBB

If I'm remembering correctly, when I first started this game, C4 and other consumables would cost certs. I never would use C4 because of this. 71 certs an hour just to keep the implants charged, is very difficult even for an experienced player. Therefore it's P2W.
Not to mention that some Implants are seriously problematic and/or OP and takes a long time to unlock/craft. Well, you can just buy them. But even then it's a gamble. Further P2W and an endless money/cert drain. If this goes live as it has been described in this topic, I won't be here. RIP Planetside 2 PC version. Let the console kiddies pay for it.
  19. Goretzu

PS1 implants were good, dunno what they expect to do with P2W implants in PS2 other than drive people away.
  20. RIctavius

you cannot purchase tier 3 implants - you can waste money to try - but you cant.
