To Matherson VS and Waterson TR: is it fun?

As far as 903rd goes, we are semi casual by design and member vote. We have serious nights where the platoons are locked to outfit only and coms are tight, but we also have a lot of casual nights where people drink, cut up, and have fun. We also run open platoons a lot on these nights.

We do try to coordinate in command chat most of the time. On serious nights we always do.

I play both my NC and VS characters on Matherson and I must say that my friends and I do switch to play NC more and more as the overpop gets worse.

It is much more fun jump jetting around a tower outnumbered than it is standing around a tower with 48+

E911 fell apart due to many of its member base, including their leading, hating Mattherson and stopped playing.

The remainder of their members went to HNYB, 903rd and some other outfits/


NOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD:
VS OUTFITS ARE NOT BETTER. YOU HAVE MORE POPULATION.

In even pop fights VS are not very good.


VS leadership meeting goes like this:

"The enemy has one platoon in this tech plant.

Lets roll 3 in.

WOW we won!

Ginyu force wins! Our tactics are soooo good!"

I've been TR on this server for a long time, and I'd be hard-pressed to remember when we were the largest faction on the server.

Here, let me fix this for you: I'll say it plainly. The VS have the largest number of players on the server.

Oh, FFS. Is it your week to be the official cheerleader for your faction? You sound like your outfits are God's-gift to PS2. Hate to burst your bubble, sweetheart, but you're not. You have a higher pop, good for you. That's why you win. When NC was FOTM, you guys were getting stomped as much as we.

Actually the ending goes "GINYU FORCE RULES!" and you have to say it at least 9001 times in order to give a proper recollection of the battle or else no one will believe you.

I even think the whole spam of GINYU FORCE RULES all over yell is annoying.

Honestly I'm starting to feel bad for TR and NC on Matherson. I took a 2.5 month break and just came back last week, VS hasn't lost a single alert yet. NC tied one with us last night though. No idea how they pulled it off.

If SOE would offer a full cert & station cash refund/server transfer, I would take it and go NC probably. With that said, there's a good reason TR on that server has low population, and it's because of the obnoxious personalities present in that faction on Matherson. I played for a little while and just got tired of being yelled at constantly, and you all know who I'm talking about....

I believe he has left the game.

TR really has no bad personalities anymore.

I dont think anyone has said 'our outfits are better and its not the pop that produces so many alert wins'.

I dont think anyone here is even talking about the quality of outfits in regards to whether alerts are won or not.

Negator, i know for a fact you think VS outfits are better.

We have talked many a time in our TS.

Also, it is people jumping on the band wagon that wins alert. Due to the aleady ridiculously lopsided population.

My outfit doesn't even bother with alerts anymore. It just isn't worth the frustration.

When NC was FOTM, we took Indar for 2 months. If you remember, we took it BEFORE the big VS pop surge. When TR Prowlers were the bane of PS2, thats right, we had capped Indar a few times and held it for a decent amount of time. Back in the early days, when the Mag was King, yep we were capping Indar. For someone who was "getting stomped as much as we" we still managed to take and hold Indar, for more than 2 days (which the TR hasn't done), we managed to take and hold Indar for more than a week (which the NC couldn't do), heck we held it for 2 months.

Sorry to "burst your bubble" but the VS rarely get stomped. Unlike you, when we had low pop, we still capped Indar and held it. We still capped Esamir and Amerish. TR really hasn't held anything for more than a day or two. Why is that?

A full cont holds 666 players. Even if one faction has a large server pop advantage, no one faction can swarm a cont during primetime. Out of those 666 players on each side, 3/4 of the VS belong to great outfits. On the NC/TR side, 1/4 at best. You simply don't have the same amount of good outfits we do. If you did, you could do exactly what we do when we have low pop in a battle, or on a cont. Win.

And for everyone else, yes I am in an snappy mood today. Yes the VS is over populated, yes it would be better if it wasn't. I'm sorry if I come across as rude or arrogant. But VS has been THE dominant faction on Mattherson since launch. VS hasn't had 50-60-70% pop advantage ever since Nov. So acting like the VS can only win because of numbers is stupid. We didn't have numbers for a long time and still won. I know the pop sucks. It will swing and NC or TR will become the FOTM. Just be patient till then.

On Connery and formerly Helios NC over populated us by over 40% and we had around 20% for around 6 months. I say deal with it because up until double XP weekend we did not have ANY population advantage. We won with 20% because we trained, yes trained in a video game, increase communication between outfits, and fought for every inch of ground like dogs.

'better' means lots of things, but i certainly dont think VS wins alerts due to outfits when its clearly pop.

You can hardly compare Matherson to Waterson population wise. And the funny thing is the NC usually have more pop than the TR at peak hours. Perhaps you're talking about 4am in the morning when the TB Euro Force gets on?

And i am grumpy anyway, this game is quite frustrating to be TR right now. I need to stop reading the forums after i play. Lol

The real question should be, why should we be blamed because of the 4th faction?
most of the true hardcore VS players have been VS from the beginning just like me and will continue to bleed purple til the end. I've been VS from the beginning, hell even VS since launch of PS1 back when we were called the "common pool" empire. VS before the buffs... before ZOE... and honestly I have no plans on changing. Sooner or later the VS will get nerfed and the 4th empire will fly to their new ship and we'll steam roll them even when the pop is against us. It ain't the first time the VS has had to deal with uneven odds and won't be the last.

There's that VS disconnect with reality.

1) VS only took control of Indar as a result of the hacker breaking TR's lock.

2) Before the lock was hacked TR held Indar against an unprecendented alliance between VS and NC for two straight days. Even cooperating with the NC, VS was incapable of breaking the lock.

3) VS never faced anything remotely like what the TR did when they held Indar

4) VS was not underpopped when they capped Indar, they were sitting at a pretty solid #2 behind the already waning NC.

4) To this day VS rarely wins fights without at least a 20% pop advantage, in fact they often dont even begin to threaten an objective until this number is reached.

5) The overall quality of VS outfits is fairly mediocre, one outfit fights much like another and seldom are they distinguishable from one another with the sole exception of DA - the rest have actually been dropping off rather sharply in quality the past month or so.

Keep telling yourself its not the zerg.

but on topic, i haven't had much of a drive to play lately as there's currently 3 choices in my book:
-play as a TR honeybadger and hope we can gather the pop to do anything worthwhile
-play as TR on Connery
-play something else

This thread wasn't made to throw blame, nor was I asking how overpopulated factions rationalize that they're winning due to skill instead of the obvious numerical advantage. I was just wondering if it was fun to play with such a huge population advantage. I take it your answer is "yes".

Its not fun. We're talking about when to roll alt OPs nights as we speak
