Thoughts on the Striker?

Considering a the leaves on a tree can interrupt this it is a pretty stupid change... They either need to reduce lock on time or allow a lock to maintain if you can see any part of the aircraft

Overall liking the changes, will make for some interesting fights :)

it'll make it less "no place to run, no place to hide" for the pilot and less "click button, recieve xp" for the shooter,
its a long overdue much needed change, before now i've tried flying incredibly far away and still get hit, i've tried going behind moutnains and still get hit, its hopeless (and yep i use flares but that just delays your intevitable defeat by 5 seconds.

Funny, Rarely ever get hits with striker, Almost always outrun missiles..

    do you have racer frame?

If it stopped warping through cover and slowed down a touch, sure.

People love to whine about the Striker. It is definitely very powerful, but it has numerous, significant disadvantages that should not be overlooked:
-No dumbfire -(This is a significant weakness compared to Lancer/Phoenix) completely unable to engage MAX units
-Lock on time before firing - longer exposure to return fire than either of the other 2 ESRLs
-Weakest alpha strike of the 3 - however minmal the difference, it effectively applies sustained dps whereas the other ESRLs are both burst damage weapons. This does not have a significant impact on 90% of in game encounters, but hey we are theorycrafting here right?
-Lock on warning- Pilots/drivers get 0 chance to react to a Lancer, Phoenix whistle is a last minute warning that rarely allows a dodge
-All damage countered by pressing one button (flares/smoke). This relies on the game actually working, but it is such a fundamental and huge difference that is totally overlooked in the QQNERFSTRIKER storm.

    Striker isn't FaF.

I personally have been killed by a lot of strikers while in a tank, but that was because I was camping hard. If I encounter a striker while in an ESF, I am insta-gibbed, but then again I have no experience with flying.

Overall, I think they're okay. What really pisses me off however, is when striker missiles don't render so I neither know where he's shooting from or where I should take cover in order to avoid the subsequent missiles. I simply hear the bam bam bam and just have to accept it. Same thing with engineer AV turrets. In fact, unrendered missiles are my #2 killer, second only to LA C4.

Also, there have been a few times where I will be in complete cover, like a 180 arc of cover between me and the enemy forces and I will STILL get hit. It's frustrating that the weapon is effective against me because of glitches and bugs, not mechanics.

Is it just me...or do I seem to have greater success than most running from Lock ons in an ESF?

If i am not running flares (only when I am in my uncerted Scythe), I always dive to about 10 feet off the ground and AB away from the source of the lock. I lose the tone after about 6-7 seconds.
    Works almost every time.

I did have a cool moment where I dodged two Decimators and an Annihilator a few days ago.

Tried to find some cover behind a hill, only to find a VS squad with the same idea.
That was an interesting experience. Thank God for flares.

Oh I'm sorry, in what way do you figure that? In it's current state you can fire a missile(s) and walk away, becuase they will guide themselves to their target... now I don't know about the world you live in, but in mine... that's fire and forget. Sure, by the time you've fired the full clip the first couple mite have reached the target, but you don't have to wait around for the last one to get there before you run off and reload.

    Just sayin' bro

The striker is powerful, but not overpowered I think. All they have to do is stop it glitching through terrain and perhaps reduce max range then it will be fine.

Play TR, and use the striker, come back here and tell us if it's op. It's not.
