Do you want to fight in strategicly important areas against two or three bored BR 100 players who kill you with their shiney epic weapons almost casually, or do you want to go with a cluster F**k of 96+ on one outpost spawn camping a 1-12 while they wait three minutes for the outpost to flip over for 5 certs. Occasionally there is a good fight but I have to suffer through two outposts of no reistance then hit a hard point where the BR100's pop up and your 96+ gaggle F**k scatters to the winds after all the sunder's are destroyed. Alerts? We are losing on all fronts but don't worry, after waiting for 1 hour and 30 minutes of losing we are gonna turn this 50% /35% / 15% around (This is almost exactly what command was saying during an alert after asking them why the outfits were farming at the defensive outposts 2 to 1 while we get slaughtered everywhere else) I hit instant action and was sent to a tech plant with two BR 100's ghost capping it. Claymores were down, mines up, it was like they were expecting an army coming through but the alert was on a different continent and they had a dominating pop on the map. They killed me a half second after I ran into them and they taunted me for the few seconds it took for me to hit the escape key and drop out of the game. Oh you suggest joining a group? Maybe get in an outfit? Okay maybe I'll submit some applications for the good outfits, or like all the new players I'll join the happy go lucky outfit where no one listens to anybody unless its a zerg operation with the simplest of instructions (Go to waypoint with everything) Or I'll join a squad where none of the players are in the same location. Or god forbid I'll actually get into a good outfit, organize, train, practice to take down the bad enemy teams and enjoy obliterating the enemy team who puts up no resistance and the leadership tells us to wait for the end of the alert to start actually fighting. Players are bailing out, merging servers.. seriously we are watching this game die. Players are farming for certs without careing about how fun the gameplay is for the sorry bastards they are farming.
If you are one of the players re spawning into said camped spawn room, don't. Spawn at the next base back and pull armor. Spawn a lib. Hell, a stock harasser and a decent driver can cause enough chaos and distract there armor long enough to let the friendlies push out. Use tactics, don't feed the farm. And yes, get in an outfit or make friends with a good platoon leader.
Improving as a player is part of any game. Getting farmed is just a part of this games learning curve in planetside. Instant gratification is not enough of an excuse to quit. I hate being the guy that ever says get better, but you are going to have work to get better that's just one of the facts of life. When I started I had a .45 KDR on my main, I have improved and that KDR is now 2.23. On a more current player I made to be able to be a bit more reckless I was able to get a 4.21, I started playing March of this year. Also if you are going to allow players to taunt you into quitting this is not the game for you. The Zerging is what it is, I have very little trouble finding a decent fight myself. This honestly looks like you are not getting instant gratification and using that as an excuse to complain. If you like the game keep working at it, if its to frustrating try something else. GL to ya
Get better FOR WHAT? What exactly is going to motivate me to get good at the game? So I can join Zergs, or so I can reach BR 100 somehow and spend my time ghost capping? Is the game a job you practice until you are good enough to participate in zerg battles? I know I can't expect to 'git gud' in the first few playthroughs. But I see nothing worth working towards. This is not about god damn instant gratification, this is how much enjoyment am I going to get out of this game if all I experience is fighting in a zerg against 1-12 or I am part of the 1-12 peeking out of a facility. Go somewhere else? Where? Everywhere else is empty or if you do join a fight it lasts for as long as it takes for the zerg to get there then the fight is A. Your side loses instantly and gets camped or B. Zerg joins you and forces the enemy to turtle and you sit by the spawn room taking pot shots at people stupid enough to run head first into fifty rifles. What part of this game is enjoyable? I'm not quitting because players are taunting me. I was the only one at a base against two BR 100's who were ghost capping. The BR 100's ghost capping on a dead continent was the straw that broke the back, the rest is zerging, spawn camps and poulation surges.
OP you sound just silly. First of all, if you dont like the game - DON'T PLAY IT. We all play PS2 because we like it despite all the crap and nerfs devs made to serve crying bads (new portion of such crap coming soon lel). But lot of people find this game bad/boring/pointless. Why to cry? Just find another game what you like. Now about current state of PS2. There is ALWAYS some balanced battles, just try to read the map. There's also a lot of ways to farm zerging enemies. There's a lot of ways to play funny and creative, and it's your problem if you can't because many players can and do that. Drop it or L2P. Currently this game is already overcasual. P.S. BR100 means only that person has some experience and patience, not uber skill.
i wouldnt mind seeing 24-48 fights come back tho all you get thees days is 1-12 or 48+ basically a small battle or a cluster **** itd be nice to find a way to encourage some medium fights again im not enjoying the current trend of resistanceless zergs circle jerking territory from eachother.
The OP has made some good points. This game doesn't encourage fighting for your faction, instead it encourages fighting for certs. It doesn't encourage strategic thinking, instead it encourages zerging an outpost 96vs10 The game is dying. It's been dying for the last 3 years and guess what, it's still alive. It's the longest agony I've ever seen. Still, player population is constantly dropping and you can't deny that. Something needs to be done or the game will die in the next 1-2 years.
Implying this is not right I play all 3 factions and the choice depends on what I want to play - Prowler or Magrider, or who has the most interesting battles. Hell no. This game encourages you to be creative if you want to have fun. If you're JUST TRYING TO DO WHAT OTHERS DO well you will end up in a zerg sh*tfit what spam invites to all newbies right at the warpgate. You can't get much XP, kills and fun if you choose to zerg, also your k/d will barely be >1. But if you're smart enough to farm zergs, well you can make yourself a cert shower and also ruin enemy attacks for the glory of your faction (nobody cares). I believe it will stay alive for next 2-3 years at least. if no, thats OK too.
I too play all three factions. But I don't play for the sake of "winning", I play for the sake of having fun and unlocking different weapons. Ask any of the zerglings in the biolab why they don't move somewhere else. Because farm ofc. Nobody cares about "winning". What you described is a TACTICAL layer (thinking how to win a battle). I never said tactical layer is bad. Me and my outfit were able to repel a zerg a few times by employing a good tactic. I said that the STRATEGIC layer sucks(deciding where to attack, which base to take, with how much force) because territory doesn't mean a $hit atm and you're getting an infinite supply of resources anyway. And the most efficient strategy is zerging of course as you can almost instantly move your army to the other side of the map thanks to redeployside. Well, I hope so. Despite it's flaws there's no other game like it.
I'm not sure what server you are on or what time zones you play said server in but personally speaking .. I very rarely have trouble finding a somewhat even fight .. either 1-12 v 1-12 or 96+ v 96+
IMO, the problem is the missing global warfare aspects that were in PS1. Currently, each continent is disconnected from each other and has all 3 empire footholds promoting constant 3-way battles. What the game needs is the empire home continents and intercontinental lattice along with continents locking mechanics that PS1 had. The rest of the resource revamp is needed as well...
If you were really going, you wouldn't have made this post on the forums. See ya on the battlefield sir ;-)
And how the game is done? that is how the people act then simply change server?or idk why do you blame people for been rank 100? a rank 100 doesnt have so much more than you do?guns dotn have levels u have acces to all of the guns so pick what you are best and be the best at it simple as that i dont understand why people always hate on the higher ranks lol if a player is good is good if you cant take it then quit
A few days ago. I hopped in the turret of a Harasser guy to get some free transport. I ended up spending 2 hours in the turrent sitting in a squad with the guy. Having a tremendous blast running over people. Sure we died a lot, but it was so much fun. Sometimes I decide to go Infiltraitor and sabotage things deep behind enemy lines. Hack terminals, turrets place mines, snipe people trying to spawn vehicles and watch them frantically search for me. Other times I like to play Heavy and yell charge as me and 96 others try to break through 1 single doorway. I do whatever I like to have some fun .Be creative, don't just follow the mindless zerg if you don't enjoy that. Get a Outfit, ASAP. Having Outfit squads to roll with makes the game a lot more enjoyable. As for fighting lv 100's, some players are just better than you. That happens in every game. Don't go in solo if you aren't very confident in your shooting ability. If you cannot solo win gun-fights vs multiple guys. Don't try to stop a 1-12 ghost-cap on your own .Instead, ask some outfit guys to come along. Participate in their gal drops. I play with all sorts of outfits in public platoons , I never fail to have fun. And lastly ,it can also be this game simply isn't for it. To me it seems you go in the game with the mindset of "it's all pointless, it's no fun" etc etc. Your mindset will influence your enjoyment and skill. If you think you will have a bad time ,you will probably have a bad time. Try to be positive I don't think Planetside is done at all. I've had a few months break, and now I am back enjoying the game just as much as I did in beta.
I know personally that trail of thought went out the window around BR 30, once you trick out your favorite vehicle/ character then it becomes the search for fun not certs. Oh, is this another "PS2 is dead" thread? Not like we haven't had a million of these since its release in 2012. Seriously, people have been saying this game is dead/ dieing since it came out. You want to know a dead game? Titanfall and Destiny, how much more $ do you think they spent making those only to flop after 6-8 months. Planetsides doing damn good given it's age
I agree with OP. It is difficult finding a "good battle" nowadays. From my perspective, and I'm not being a bigot, it is the Asian mega swarms that are the problem. I'm running into them all the time and between their lag and their sheer numbers, gameplay is for 5hit. They should be diverted to Briggs.
first thing you need to realize is that there is no winning and actually capturing anything is completely irrelevant in the game. Play it like a deathmatch and just faceroll around doing whatever you feel like doing, while hopefully still playing objectives. many possibilities have already been described and i'm sure you can come up with some on your own. If you're looking for competitive and balanced matches this is definitely not the game for you. you will run into some pretty balanced battles every now and then, though they usually end up finishing in a one sided zerg, Sadly, I think the thing that impacts the game in the worst way is the cert grind since so many people just focus on that and don't give a damn about anything else going on in the game. I've played on and off for years and I can say that following a zerg and playing in a platoon rarely makes a difference. the vast majority of outfits and platoons dont' really do anything except put a waypoint up and zerg it. There used to be a few good outfits but i don't even know if they still play since I don't even pay attention to tags and platoons any longer. If you want to play with someone and have a good time just play roulette and hop into a random vehicle and hope he has a clue you'll run into some pretty good times that way and some really crappy ones but at least you wont' be just zergballing a waypoint.
Started playing PS2 a few days before Xmas in 2012. New year rolled around. Posts about how the game was already dying, it wouldn't even last a year. Left mid 2013 when my son was born. Posts were flooding the forums about the game dying, servers merging, couldn't find a good fight...etc etc. Came back early 2014. Posts about game dying. Left in November 2014 when my comp exploded (well it didn't explode, but it did catch fire while I was playing PS2) Came back a few months ago. Posts about game dying. All in all, this game as done pretty well for a game that most people in 2013 said wouldn't last a full year. So I'm gonna say exactly what I said way back in early 2013. Yes this game has it's flaws. Yes it has things that totally piss me off, make me rage, and leave me speechless at times. But for all it's faults, for all the crap annoyances that it provides. It's still magical. Being in the right fight, changes everything. Seeing that overwhelming horde of enemies approach, frantically trying to defend, and pulling out a last minute clutch save. Flaws, stupidity, sheer rage. Yes PS2 has them. But it's also given me some of the most awe inspiring, oh sh*t, edge of my seat dripping sweat moments I've had in 30 years of gaming.
This. It might be dying, but its a long way from dead. Like I said in another thread, PS2 will never die until the servers are shut down completely. It's just that kind of game.
