Things that need some love

    In no particular order
    • Galaxies
    • Infiltrators
    • Engineers
    • Medics
    • Lightnings
    • MBTs
    • Camo Coverage
    • Performance
Anyway, that's what I can think of off the top o' my head, what things do you guys think need loving the most?

Honestly, though, the most pressing issue is the infantry meta in this game. Are we trying to cater only to one crowd of kd-at-all-costs or actual combined arms gameplay?

Why do engineers/medics need some love?

Engineers need love becuase they are currently in a very odd place where they are jack of all trades, master of none. They are supposed to be great at defense "able to turn a warehouse into a fortress" in the words of the description, yet after 7 months they still don't have access to deployable cover or terminals, and the AI MANA turret is still just bad. At the same time their other toys, like the repair tool and the AV MANA turret are arguably OP. Overall, SOE needs to decide what they want to engineer to be, a pilot/driver or an infantry support class.

The medic suffers from a similar problem in that they are supposed to be a combat medic, and as such have access to the best infantry weapons in the game and C4, but no cert trees to support those.

    I was expecting:
    • Battle Rifle
    • Enforcer Modified
    • Renegade Shotgun
    • Scout Rifles
    • Beamer
    • Ranger
    • HE cannons
  7. Blarg20011

Hey, I threw that list together real fast and forgot some things. Thanks for reminding me of those.

Because medics function too well and need a nerf or at least a change to make them harder to rez people while making them better at healing players even though healing players is tough because they usually die rather than stay up with a bit of health.

Engineers need help with their tool so they can repair the vehicle when they are right next to it without having to be looking perfectly at it. The AV turret needs a nerf to range( Personally find it OP because I use it).

I play both of these classes(Engineer more) and pretty much have these two classes pretty certed with max tools on both and max AOE heal on the Medic. I find playing medic is very forgiving because if you play as a standard infantry you will do pretty well since the medic weapons are good and if you play as true medic oriented player you will excel at the speed in which it takes to Rez people.

Medic is a really good class for anyone to start out on as well and feel that it is in need of a skill level increase. Of all the classes I feel it is the easiest to use followed by the Light Assault and Heavy Assault then Engineer(without AV turret) then Infiltrator.

    Forgot MAX.

Thanks for another good explanation of what is broken with engis/medics, and I omitted MAX because I left out things that they already gave some "love," love that happened to be the weird kind with whips and chains.

I'm going to write mostly about TR stuff, since they're the only faction I have played more than an hour.

    - As mentioned above - optimization.Planetside 2 needs it badly.Performance seems to be getting worse and worse for most people after every GU and SOE is losing/will lose a lot of players because of this.Hopefully we'll get to see DX11,64-bit support and proper Multithreading down the line.
    - Pounders - no comment needed
    - Lockdown - no comment needed as well.Aegis shield seems more useful, but it could still use some love(I'll let an NC soldier suggest something)
    - TR Carbines/Assault Rifles could use a bit of balancing, both in terms of performance and visuals(as most weapons look the same)/audio(sound mostly "meh").The weapons balance patch essentially hit the Lynx and TRV into the ground, making the Jaguar and the TAR our best options. The T5 AMC,while pretty accurate, could use a tiny damage buff in my opinion. Also we need more carbine choices to vary up the gameplay.
    - Claymore - while the last buff was nice,it's still easily the worst of the 3 AI mines
    - AT mines - they need to be less visible.Pretty much the only useful thing they can do is to blow up Sunderers.Drivers are not afraid of AT mines at all as they're extremely visible(and don't tell me to place them properly, anyone with a brain will figure out where they are and will check regularly for mines). They either need to be made a bit smaller or make them dig a bit into the ground,so they don't pop up so much.
    - Liberators - right now libs are a no-no in big battles as essentially you'll get shredded to pieces by the huge amount of AA and the couple enemy ESFs that will start chasing you
    - Combat Medic/Infiltrator/Light Assault - they could use more interesting gadgets/teamwork tools and abilities to vary their playstyle
    - M60 Bulldog - needs it's rate of fire buffed
    - Galaxy - again, needs more option to vary the game style - air resupply/repair,squad spawn etc
    - Maybe the Lightning.Right now the only thing people use it for is to farm infantry with the C75 Viper.
    - As mentioned above, camo coverage.TR soldiers have it worst here I think.Essentially no matter the camo you have the extreme amounts of red on our uniforms stands out too much. And VS are a pain in the *** to see at night.
  11. Morrow

How is the liberator not on your list? :)

Medics and engies are fine for me, suprised to see them there
  12. Blarg20011

Libs aren't really my thing, so while I recognize that something needs to be done for them, I don't have enough experience to discuss it.
  13. yama

How about not having "REMOVE FRIEND" as the first option and not putting it right next to "SEND MESSAGE" on the bloody friend interaction menus?
Oh and I'd really like a resource tick while on a loading screen. New continent or current one.

    Thanks

While I always agree that the lib could use a little love in her tail, these 2 points are fixable by the player.

    When confronting ground AA
    • Ground AA should be the libs primary target before they go about ground pounding for their team.
    • In the cases that AA cannot be attacked (like when they are behind the shield), you just stick to moving, preferably as fast as you can. Smaller AA like max's are less accurate at range and players have a tendency of not behind to lead well.
    • Don't wait until the last minute to leave for repairs. You get close to half, you leave and you go low.
    • Different situations require different tactics. You can't just fly overhead and not expect to be safe. Some situations require circling, some require in and out strafing runs.
    • Hopefully in many situations there is more than one target in the air.
    When confronting air AA
    • This is directed more to other players. Friendly ESF's really should take up the role more of guarding the ground pounders. When they do, it's awesome. When they don't, well, we know how that usually ends. Usually when I go fighter I try to play this role simply because I know how it is to be on the unguarded end.
    • Learn to belly up that girl. In many cases simply showing your underside is enough to scare off the ESF, for a while anyways. The persistent ones will change their tactics.
    • Just as you are carving the way for your team on the ground, hopefully they should be kind enough to have some flak on the ground. A couple of skyguards behind the battle line can do wonders in locking down the sky.
For the less experienced pilots however this is where I've been trying to ask for a better rear gun. The current one is worthless and most ESF pilots know it.
I spend a lot of time in my bird and I've learned to keep her going for 30 minutes to an hour at a time.

    Thing that needs love:
    Enforcer C85 Modified.

This weapon has been crap since beta and still is. SOE has tried to buff it 2-3 times and it's still bad beyond belief.
  16. Serell

No, TR have it best. You SHOULD have your team colors. Especially since you're all about loyalty until death. Where's your loyalty if you don't wear your colors? It's VS camo's that need to be changed. It's just ridiculous how little purple they wear. I also think NC camo's need to have more blue/yellow stripes on them. When I was shopping for a camo, I went with Urban Forest, since it actually showed my team colors and I couldn't stand all the others that barely made me look NC.
  17. Blarg20011

Agreed, something must be done but I don't think that taking away faction colors is the right route. VS just need more teal.
  18. Ghost_Leader

Having it best? That half of our camo is covered in red? That due to red being an extremely bright color we're the easiest to spot(especially during a night)? What's the purpose of having an snow camo, when our faction color is in a huge contrast with the color of the camo. All I'm saying is that it needs to be a bit toned down, not completely removed. We should still have our faction colors, but in a way that doesn't completely kill the purpose of the camoflauge.

    I think engineers are fine.

However I would like them to be able to specialise into something much more PS1-like, allowing them to actually be engineers and defensive.
