Things that make me want to kill a kitten

    Except the Striker hits

I agree except the AT turrets. Oh dont forget the aweful optimization and vulcans. Dont kill a kitten please Ill give you my spandex.

Holy crap that's terrible. That's like how the annihilator used to be at release. Useless mostly and unable to hit things in the open. Then they changed it so it lead the target and was too easy to spoof. They seem to be having similar problems with the striker mechanics and are in no rush to fix it.

Anyway, I don't think the Striker needs a nerf just yet.

THE STRIKER NEEDS A FIX. Gimme lock on sounds so I know I'm being tracked, and I guess it would be nice if it didn't shoot through solid objects.

Until it's mostly bug free it's kind of hard to argue if it is OP or UP or just bugged.

The ATV physics is the worst that Ive ever encountered in any game that has an ATV. Seriously, it's like slipping and sliding on any rock or pebble big enough that an ant can carry. They seriously need to fix how the ATV drive. Take a hint or two from BC2, they can code their ATVs pretty darn good. I could live with the silly Sunderer and Harasser physics but please SOE, fix the ATV!

Second gripe would be the revives on MAXes. What's the point of killing any MAX when it will be revived real soon. Sometimes I just give up on infantry fights as a MAX basically instagibs most infantry. Only way to fight is zerg fights, crowded and all because no one wants to push towards where the enemy MAXes are.
  5. HessianJunker

    1. Put on Scrapper chassis, slow down over bumps.
    2. Kill the medic.
  6. GraphicJ

You mean the one that I use and that I have certed all the way up and STILL makes me feel like I'm in a spinning Tea Cup or that makes me flip flop more than any politician?

Sure, let me just get behind the easy wall of MAXes. Of course one can kill a MAX, but whats the point when all they do is wait until a medic comes to revive a tank. I seen a dead MAX once wait up to 12-13 minutes for a medic to revive him. There needs to be a timer or a severe cooldown. But again that's just me as I never found infantry fighting against any MAX fun in a FPS game. They should be treated as tanks as that's how they actually act like.
Either way I'll keep on groundpounding, just wish MAXes were never part of Planetside, even since PS1 or at least should be very limited.
  7. Badname82

He's a troll, ignore him. Apparently the following is acceptable performance in his eyes. Note the slow speed of the turns, and the general flat terrain. Working as intended I'm sure. Nothing like power sliding when just trying to turn...when you have the chassis known for traction. I enjoy having to come to a total halt in combat to avoid flipping and tipping over. That's totally safe. I also like doing donuts when I'm trying to escape.

Move along, this is totally fine. Nothing to see here. The American army has been defeated, they will never enter Bagdhad.

EDIT: redid movie from original post...resolution was horrible

No offence but as long as c4 can one shot a max suit they need to be revivable. Incredibly frustrating pulling a max just to be immediately c4'd by some derp LA.
  9. TheBlindFreak

While I agree with you there, the flak armor can save you from one. And trust me, we hardly ever go and use 2 bricks from the get go unless there are multiple maxes clustered together.

There is a timer on revives. After s a certain amount of time, you can't be revived by a medic. Honestly, it probably should be reduced or have a counter to the amount of times they can be revived.

It's not a tank, it doesn't have treads, it's supposed to be a light vehicle. It's supposed to be a bumpy ride. I'm not saying it's fun, but trying slowing down once in a while.
It is annoying that it can't take high jumps though. I'm rather fond of those, it's frankly why I pull the Harasser instead, a much more stable ride, but if you're going to complain about the Flash, at least go through the proper steps to make it less of an abomination to use.

There is a timer before revives can no longer be applied to a corpse. But in the heat of battle, medics do, as you say, keep things going. It's not specific to MAXes, and MAXes actually have the penalty of being revived with a minuscule fraction of their health, making them entirely reliant upon an Engineer to get them up and running again. They're not as disposable as infantry, they're a hybrid class.

Can you actually make one constructive post in response to me without namecalling? This is just flaming now, it's not a shock mods have removed posts from your own thread.
I assure you I am not trolling by being audacious enough to disagree with you.

I reiterate, you expect the traction of a tank? It's a freaking quad bike. You trade off speed and stealth for handling and health.

"total halt in combat" ... what the hell are you doing with a like scout craft in the middle of combat? The only real useful iteration of this is a Fury/Wraith Flash, and those typically have no problem slinking away.
  11. Badname82

Apparently you've never driven an ATV in real life. The large tires are intended to prevent sliding. You can hold a turn on a dirt slope in real life, I'd expect a grass or dirt FIELD in the game would not cause the thing to do donuts. It is way to easy for the Flash to lose traction and start to spin around like a top. This simply does not happen with an ATV in the real world.

And your point about halting in combat? Even when going from point A to point B you can get shot at, chased, attacked, whatever. So being on a flash is supposed to be an immediate death sentence? I'm not talking about taking on 2/2 main battle tanks I'm simply talking about trying to get away, or drive somewhere. If you can't take evasive maneuvers without losing control of the flash, on FLAT ground, then what exactly is the point of it?

I'd like to be able to use the flash for more than wraith whoring and strapping C4 to the front and jihading it. Since it is ridiculously difficult to line up infantry while moving thanks to bumpiness and sliding and risky to even try to evade getting shot at it simply is too limited in effect to us.

I'm calling you a troll because all of your posts are predicated on everyone being dumb. You either assume anyone complaining about vehicle handling is not using handling chassis' (which is not the case), lying about it (check your first three posts) or just doesn't know how to drive. The assumption therefore is YOU do, and we don't. That's not an debate, that's you being a troll. Have you not noticed no one agreeing with you yet? Have you not noticed other people mention about the front flipping tendancies of Liberators? Your answer there was user error...we're so dumb we're getting it caught on an objects. Which is patently not what we're complaining about.

Are we all bad pilots and drivers? That's your argument and as such it is inherently non-constructive. Non-constructive posting is by definition trolling. If the shoe fits dude, wear it.

I've really only ever been killed in a Flash, full speed by tanks or aircraft. Infantry have a remarkably hard time shooting Flashes, if you've yet to notice. Again, the problem seems to be user generated. Flashes move at incredible speeds, if an infantryman is able to shoot you at top speed across an open plain, you deserve to be killed. If you go over insane jumps and do a barrel roll, you deserve to be killed.

You only lost control in said video when doing full on turns, (might I note, turns better and faster than most other land vehicles, perhaps the Mag and Harasser excluded) most people find it easily navigable crossing a Flash on flat ground, I'd assume, since there's no remarkable outrage, or sympathy amongst the kitten-choking community as yourself holds.

Don't believe pointing out there's a user error is synonymous with a lack of intelligence, it just means you're not using it for its intended purposes or functions. Does not at all imply idiocy or stupidity, didn't at all mean to imply that.
I'm sorry if that's the way I came off, I simply wish to point out that you're doing it wrong.
Enough with the namecalling though. Simmer down, buddy. This is borderline flaming and apparently I have the mods on my side on this one, considering you've had one+ post deleted already for outright being dismissive of anything anyone else has to say, which is a prime example of why the devs don't post here, and why they go to reddit instead. Don't throw a temper tantrum simply because I suggest there may be a technique to driving, instead of some conspiracy to gradually make the Flash more and more useless by reducing traction, as you've said in your own freakin' posts. Check your first two. You blame SOE, or suggest there are glitches to suggest the deterioration in your driving skills, when only a couple posts later, you contradict yourself by listing IMPROVEMENTS.
This to me screams user generated error. I agree, Flash mechanics are wonky. They're not fun.
But there are ways to get around the bumps and flips. Drive safely along bumps, don't turn too much.
Hell, if someone kept falling off a unicycle, it'd be a user generated error, simply because it's not being done properly. Doesn't make the user stupid, or the developer of the unicycle a conspirator. Just means there are better ways to go about using it than falling over or flipping.
But to suggest Sony's been making it worse, update after update, by "Law of unintended consequences", for some unexplained reason, is utterly nonsensical.

If you continue to call names, I'm not even going to debate the semantics of trolling with you, I'm just going to report it.

I'm here to actually engage in constructive dialogue, hence my suggesting what people may need to do.
I've requested multiple times for the same from you, to no avail. Would really love compliance from you.

P.S. Presenting popular opinions as facts says nothing to their validity. Cute that you care though.
  13. Badname82

I have not had a single post deleted from this thread. I think the main problem here is you keep making assumptions that are totally ridiculous...to whit:

Why on earth would you think I'm complaining about infantry? I'm talking in general, which means getting rocket podded because you can't turn without spinning out (the best way to avoid rockets is to drive under the enemy airplane). It also means getting nailed by a tank, because if you have to slow down to maintain control while zig-zagging, any half decent tanker will kill you.

The problem with the flash is it's propensity to spin out. For something that doesn't go THAT fast (it's as fast as a lightning, and slower than a harasser) that's unacceptable. If you want to outrun stuff and use the racer chassis, then all control goes out the window.

Again with making stuff up. I'm not talking about jumps. Did you not notice how the flash spins out while turning on flat terrain? Never once did I mention problems with stunt driving or jumps. I'm talking about just driving it on flat terrain, or gentle slopes.

What? You agree mechanics are wonky. My thread is that mechanics are wonky. You've been saying the entire time I'm wrong. Now you admit it's not fun? If it's not fun, there's a problem. And your advice?

So in other words, it's purely for going from point A to point B. If you 'don't turn too much' you are a sitting duck to any other vehicle that spots you.

This is advice? Don't turn too much? Drive safely? What is this, an FPS video game or drivers ed?

It's called they made a mistake. Again, you are claiming I'm saying there's some conspiracy to ruin the game on us...that's nonsensical on the surface.

I'm saying they have some problems they need to fix. The fact they keep PATCHING and CHANGING and FIXING vehicle mechanics over and over means there is a problem they are trying to correct. This is basic logic. This is basic reading comprehension. They simply are not there yet. If everything was ok and they were happy with things they wouldn't make adjustments constantly. How does this not make sense to you?

Lol. I don't work for you. This is my thread. If you like, start one of your own. I'm not looking for advice on how to drive vehicles, I'm giving an opinion on current in-game mechanics and things that bother me. It's an opinion piece. Why can't you get that? Why do we have to do what you want? Why should we accept things you do? Why should we accept "drive slow" as an answer?

It's abundantly clear you disagree. I get that. It's also abundantly clear FAR FAR more people agree with me than you. That's not to say one person is right and another is wrong, but it does go to show that there's a lot of people out there who think vehicle mechanics and striker mechanics need some work.

Badname:The same thing happens in my ESF (see 1 heavy locking on and then only get told hes "locking on" after 2-3 hits), or I drop my flares and continue getting hit whilst taking evasive measures.

I still think Tree has explained that. Bad Lag+Clientside=No lock on. Or a lock on way to late. Plus it explains how you take the hits even if you evade, because Laggy McPlayer's client has told the game to tell your client that he has got hitmarkers and damage already.

This is why I would like to see reasonable ping restrictions of some type, for all games that decide to use client side hit detection. Its never gonna happen though, So I guess dont bother taking cover and get use to getting shot through it if you do.
  15. Badname82

I've never noticed that, simply because it's hard to tell from an ESF. I'll take your word for it...the lag explanation certainly makes a ton of sense.

It is however disheartening...because that is much harder, if not impossible, to fix via code changes. It's not a big deal say with an anni launcher, as it does so little damage (only a flash will get one shot). You can eat a number of normal lockons, even the dedicated AT and AA types. The problem with the striker is it's high damage...it two shots a number of things (two clips that is, or two lockons) so it is far more noticeable.

Kind of hard to see how to fix that without killing the Striker. I mean, the high damage is the point of it, otherwise why bother with it? The limited ammo, long lock-on period and the need to maintain lock and get all rounds on target to SEE the high damage are the drawbacks so lowering damage is counter productive here.
  16. HessianJunker

It's apparent you're not even reading what I'm saying.
Have a fun thread, I'll enjoy the fact that devs never listen to people like you.
  17. JokeForgrim

Yeah its a hard one to actually confirm. The only times I have been 100% sure were when me and a friend were playing on an empty continent at 4am. there was literally 1 TR on the whole map (I was teaching my friend to fly so we were just doing the easy containment) everyone else was busy up north.

Anywho the guy looks up at me from on top of the tower and i think oh crap dumbfire and start moving, then he stands there and keeps "lining up" his dumbfire and i start trying to pod him, then all of a sudden BOOM BOOM whoa w t f? "Lock on" *flares* BOOM BOOM BOOM. Srsly?

Generally every few weeks I am playing in the early morning shift when the servers next to empty (I imagine this would be prime time for some countries so hence the higher amount of high ping players)

It is a hard one to fix, Thats why I doubt SOE will do anything. Same as fractures, I doubt they will get a "Rebalance"... how do they balance the striker? Longer lock on time (so your client has time to receive the Lock on message) then increase the damage? Cant see anything that would make it work better? Maybe a ping test before allowing it to unlock ;)

I have said this from launch, Ive put in support tickets and made forum threads about it. I've explained what I see... High ping players are obvious and they are 90% of the problem.

Today I watched a guy get rushed by 5 people, 1 heavy. I had tried to kill him twice with a pump point blank as he stood still both times and he would just ADAD and warp left to right then hose me down whilst taking 0 damage and giving 0 hitmarkers.

Anywho we all got frustrated and rushed him at once... 5 people couldnt hit him, he ended up killing 3 then running away and THEN getting shot when he ran in a straight line. How is that fair?

Sure its just as bad for him, except his client is out of sync so he can shoot people who have already moved on the server until his client updates next packet in 500-800ms not to mention if he keeps moving he is practically invincible. Why dont they put that in the store? Im sure 90% of people would pay good money for a god mode ping disruptor.

I wish they had "suggested servers" at launch and some form of ping restriction when creating a character. 90% of the "hacks and warp and lag" QQ could have all been avoided on the forums. Now the players have high level characters on said far away server and they are not going to PAY to transfer (when they finally release server transfers) and they are not going to start from scratch. So they end up being a curse to the rest of the people trying to do the right thing and play on a Low ping server to play a competitive FPS with a (relatively) even ground.

    *disappointment*
