The situation on helios has been getting worse every week. SoE, are you ever going to address this? The alert system is completely useless anymore when one faction has 60% of the world population and alert population looks like this: Edit: This shot is less than 30 min into the alert.
I was there when this happened tr and vs was on indar its there fault if they did't participate. or are you saying 70% of helios is nc which we know is not true.
At least they bumped up the per-continent XP bonuses from topping out at a measly +27% (for 99:1 odds) to a more reasonable +50% maximum (which maxes out at around 4:1 odds or 5:1 odds). They still need to bring back the old server-level bonus and stack that with the per-continent bonus.
As much as I've been dedicated to Vanu Connery, even I'd consider switching off of Helios at this point.
Come to Mattherson if you wana play on a good vanu server instead we need more pop here too. despite our constant 25-29% pop we generally hold our own and our outfits are very organized in comparison the VS on other servers.
Well, lets put it this way, what CAN they do to fix it? You cannot force people to switch factions, and unless it's somebody who has no faction loyalty, and hasn't put a lot of work into their character, faction changes aren't likely to make them switch, only 4th factioners do that. I know I'd be really mad if I was forced to switch factions on a character I have 17 days of work put into.
The problem stems from 4th faction jokers. Couple that with the mass migration of NC to Helios and it is really bad. I actually cheer when I get killed by an NC over lvl 15. Alot of the folks that play NC there for a long time arent happy either. There just aren't that many targets anymore and they get TKed more than killed by an enemy. And Skeeter: The world population was over 60% NC. Its getting to the point that TR and Vanu Flee the continent with the alert because the other 2 continents is the only place they can get a fair fight. Why would you want to wast 30 min- 2 hours of your day getting steamrolled by 3:1 zergs (at best, usually 6:1) when you can actually get cap points and kills by avoiding the alert. Helios has become an NC mecca for free 10k xp every 4 hours. Its only a matter of time before other servers start seeing the same thing where 1 faction dominates the population by a HUGE margin. If the system properly rewarded xp based on population and penalized those with uber-high pops, then the draw to always join the most populated side would vanish. As an example, say TR and Vanu have 20% each and NC have 60%. Thats 300% more pop for the NC. Give TR and Vanu 150%xp bonus for fighting under those conditions and penalize the NC 60% for their population imbalance, and this would never be an issue again. (ie: 4000 xp for dominating victory, not 10k) This encourages more people to participate in the alert, removes the incentive of joining the winning team when the alert is active, and the fairweather 4th faction players will have to find themselves a permanant home, rather than chase the XP.
The VS and TR do not even try to participate anymore which is stupid because we are getting a huge xp bonus right now. Personally, I went and blew up generator's all morning during the alert and made about 150 certs in an hour from the +70% exp bonus... wish I would of had a boost too. Anyway yeah NC on Helios has no skill and they zerg the living **** outta us but when 3pm PST and the weekend hit VS dominates because the pop is even.
The past 2 nights I played on Helios was basically a "Defend until you get overrun", over and over and over. Yes, having lots of targets is fun sometimes. Yes, with the NC zerg comes lots of incompetent players that make farming easy sometimes. Yes, Id rather be the under-pop than over-pop. BUT....sometimes you just want a good even number fight. Its hard to get that as a TR on Helios. They need to give Faction Tokens. Only available to the OVER-op factions on the respective servers. You can change faction, keep your BR and Certs, and anything purchased will unlock the equivalent on the faction you are switching to. Have a decked out Reaver? Now you have a decked out Mossie. Got all the HA guns? Now you have all the TR HA guns. That's the only way I see balance happening. I know some NC are content with being able to follow the mass and just soak up certs and whatnot, but I also there are some NC that would actually like a challenge and would switch, if they didn't invest so much into their NC. This would solve it, IMO.
