The typical TR column....

    1, maybe 2, Lightnings and 12-15 Prowlers

Best part is, only ONE of those Prowlers had a gunner in it. The rest were 1/2 all the way from Crossroads to Broken Arch.

Yeah those Prowlers are definitely under powered and crappy compared to those AP Lightnings.
  2. DashRendar

No gunners and they say TR are the most organized team oriented players? I don't believe it. Shocked.

I'm sorry what is the point of this thread? What are you trying to explain?

The point was I see sooo many TR say the Lightning is this "amazing" tank that is better than the Prowler because it is faster and has a lower profile...then why don't they use them?

Or how they don't run 1/2 Prowlers because everyone "shames you into using a gunner"....well then where are all the gunners?
  8. treeHamster

This made me laugh pretty hard.

The prowler has higher dps, more HP, and a secondary gun that can be used for anti-infantry or anti-air, whichever.

AP cannon + kobalt is not a sidegrade to a lightning.

Was that really your point? Go to sleep.

Pubs v. dedicated players. How many of those Prowlers had anything other than a Basi? Alternatively, how many had a Vulcan? Because if they had Vulcans on them, no wonder the gunner slot was empty.

I see the same **** from the VS on my server. Dozens of Magriders, no lightnings. And same, though less severe, for NC.

It really boils down to 'Do you own a tech plant?'. If yes, MBT spam. If not, then Lightning spam in the direction of the tech plant.

Actually almost all of them had either Halberds or Vulcans. I saw 2 Basilisks in the entire lot. Most of the names I saw I recognized as BR's over 70.

Post a couple various zerg pics from the side of the accused. I switched to the TR side to make sure I saw all the tanks in the area. Also, make note of how many are 1/2 and 2/2.

Armor columns are mostly MBT's: Yes. The typical NC and VS ratios on Mattherson are 2:1, sometimes 3:1, MBT:Lightning. The typical TR column is 5:1, sometimes 6:1, MBT:Lightning. I'm not saying all three factions spam tanks to a stupid degree, it's the ratios of their spam that matter because it tells of the balance of the MBT to Lightning.

The other big difference between TR and VS/NC columns is the how many MBT's are 2/2 and how many are 1/2. VS and NC usually run 2/2 for their MBT's (mostly because they're dead without a gunner). TR...well from my first post I hope you can figure how often 2/2 happens.

Other factions never do that, I'm sure!

I can't record on my PC, I play on a laptop and it's hard enough running the game, nevermind recording. I even tried recording once, the game just straight up told me "You computer can't handle that".

As for reasons why there might be more Prowlers, I'd say it's the handling characteristics and familiarity of it. The stock Prowler handles relatively like a tank from BF3 or some such, whilst the stock Vanguard is a slow, unresponsive turd of a tank and the stock Magrider is a slow, completely-different-handling-system than any tank they've likely used before. The Lightning meanwhile, again, handles like a tank from BF3 or some such.

Basically, as far as I'm concerned, you're claiming familiarity is OP.

As for the gunners, Prowler main guns are the best for AI, best for AV with anchor mode and 2nd best for AV without. Prowler gunners generally have a boring life as their driver will either take most of the infantry kills or they'll be sat so far out the gunner will have nothing to do. The exception being well-certed Halberd Prowlers (Vulcans too until the last patch or so) who will usually have a gunner because they'll be owned by an outfit or other skilled tank crew.

For the other empires, the main guns aren't as effective vs infantry, and their operating range in AV work is often much closer, giving the gunners more kills, more points and generally more to do.

Basically, nobody wants to gun for an artillery tank that'll net them 0 points, plenty of people want to gun for brawler tanks and assassin tanks that'll net them $$$'s of points.

Other TR players have brought this point up before but maybe those Prowlers are missing their 2nd gunner because TR secondaries don't mesh well with one of the Prowler's selling features, which is long-range boot-to-face anti-infantry bombardment. What's a Vulcan gunner going to do when his driver is locked-down and spamming infantry at 200 meters?

Also, Mattherson keeps lagging on me. Get back into your wheel you hammy ham.

Huh. I always pulling a Lightning over a Prowler. Unless I want to farm a camped tower or something.
  18. treeHamster

So you guys are saying "I shouldn't be a gunner and rather pull my own MBT because the being a gunner doesn't let me get as many points". HOWEVER, if you nerf say the reload speed to 4 seconds, you guys are ALSO whining that the tank will be too weak to take on other tanks. How can that be then? If you had a longer reload speed, then a gunner WOULD be helpful because they could be assisting the driver/main gun at hurting vehicles or watching out for infantry.

Also, Cougar you are saying that the Lightning AND Prowler have familiar handling to BF tanks is pretty bad. MAYBE you could make that argument with the Magrider but the Vanguard's acceleration really isn't that far off from the tanks in BF. On top of that it has a SHIELD.

The reality is that you complain that the secondaries can't get any points because the main gun gets them all and therefore you should pull your own tank. But you also whine that if they nerf the main barrel that the tank can't compete because it wouldn't be good enough.

So either I'm missing something or the reasons you guys use to defend the Prowler are highly contradictory.

Buff the Vulcan so it's a good medium range tank weapon, 200 meter range at least, give it good AV damage and meh AI damage like the Enforcer ML85 and you'll see more 2/2 Prowlers. Give the Prowler a mobile ability which doesn't result in it being a highly vulnerable sitting duck artillery tank and you'll see more people gunning for Prowlers since being a secondary gunner for a Prowler.

A Prowler that acts like a tank is more exciting to be a secondary gunner for than being one for a Prowler that behaves like an artillery piece. I personally have 2X zoom and a lot of certs into my Halberd so my gunners should always be able to help me out no matter what the situation. Nice thing is if the gunner can aim they are also getting plenty of infantry kills and vehicle assists too because there's always so many targets when you're fighting so close to your enemies.

I also don't see what your complaining about, as all factions on Mattherson have infantry who use MBT's as taxi cabs. They are a nice pile of certs and if I were you I would take part in harvesting 1/2 Prowlers for certs with your own tank rather than complaining about them.:D
