The TR Pump action shotgun model is placeholder?

At this point I'd be happy, if we got an AK-47 ingame...

Oh god we are on that level now aren't we? Ak 47 <.< *sigh* yes i think im desperate enough even for a horrid look like that weapon

Honestly, I'm still baffled by the 'knob' at the end of almost every TR weapon. What does it do?

They spent a lot of time talking about how when they come up with a weapon idea they have to present it in a manner that makes actual sense, so that the animators and modelers understand the function underneath of the design.

I can't see a single useful purpose that knob serves. It just makes the gun look bulky and stupid. I want to see the streamlined methodology in TR weaponry. We have 4 weapons that even begin to approach that sort of design.

The Cycler TRV, the SABR-13, the NightHawk, and the smgs (I'm not going to count them as separate weapons because their receivers and everything about them are almost identical)

I'm down with taking a utilitarian approach to TR weapons as well, though. I also don't understand why practically every single TR gun has an almost completely shrouded barrel. Why not expose more of it? It makes the gun look more interesting, and would help get the weapon design out of the whole 'rounded rectangle' template they seem to be using for practically every weapon across all factions.

Look at NC weapons as a base. They are supposed to be big and blocky. Then compare that design to the TR and VS weapons. They are essentially the same, profile; a big rounded rectangle. I really hope this changes.

This is the same for VS (probably moreso) and NC also. The models are just shocking. The models for the second pump shotguns look a lot better, but still only on the 'mildly good' side of things.

There are models for the other faction's second shotguns? I've only seen the TR one.

I was extremely disappointed after purchasing this weapon on the shop to find out the same as OP, that the weapon model is exactly the same as the default machine guns. Its a slap in the face to spend money on a weapon, and not have it look unique. Its exactly like OP said where it looks like a run of the mill machine gun. I wonder what the artists were thinking. This is not the only weapon like this, there was another purchase I made for Heavy Assault where my gun I had purchased looked identical to the standard Heavy Assault weapon. When someone spends real life money on something, that person should receive something that looks different then the standard, after-all it is the money from the shop that is supporting the game - so it'd be nice if SOE supported the players back with unique weapon models.

I'm sorry that you were unhappy with it and I agree that the guns should look different than each other but did you really not trial it before buying? You spent money on it, without even checking it? A simple trial would have shown you how it looked.

Yup, you're right with that. They post dev interviews and they go into detail about how much they think about it, about inspiration, about their passion but then it's just a facade because they just end up regurgitating the same thing. Actions speak louder than words.

I share your sentiment when it comes to the complete disconnect between what they are saying, and what they are producing. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they lack passion though. I just don't think it's being utilized properly.

I personally don't understand how T-Ray could think that the TR shotgun model was even remotely passable. THAT is what I really find unsettling. I mean from concept to final product that gun looks terrible. What the hell happened to that awesome shotgun model that replaced the TR Nighthawk Autoshotgun for a day?

For an 18 year veteran, something like that model is what I would have expected him to give the go ahead for. Not what we got. It's really weird, and it makes me more than a little anxious, because while I respect the devs, I haven't really found a weapon that I really love using.

Especially when it comes to shotguns. Every single semi-auto shotgun gave me that 'almost-but-not-quite' feeling when I tried using them at mid range, or just tried using them with ADS in general.

And I feel the same way about this Pump action shotgun as well. I absolutely abhor the weapon model, but the weapon's functionality just falls short of what I view a useful pump action to be.

Well, I will hope against reason that the new shotgun set is coming out next week, despite it not being explicitly mentioned in Higby's post. It would make sense for them to follow the same pattern as they did with SMGs, with shotguns, right?
