The tank buster

    Not to mention the question was not "can any tank 2-shot any lib" the question was "can a tank 2-shot a lib"

    Libs don't take explosive damage from tank shells, so it's not an issue.

    My question to lib pilots would then be: Would you hate it if you had to choose between a Dalton or a TB? That is to say, make the TB a belly gun option instead of a nose gun and make the choice of long-distance and perhaps somewhat safer AV versus perhaps more risky CAS AV.

    TBH, I'm not sure what the difference in TTK is between a Dalton versus the TB at various cert investments. Someone with more knowledge may feel free to tell me this is a terrible idea.

    Anyway tankbuster is fine. It's mounted on a big clunky vehicle that is back to it's role of not doing much.

    As a lib pilot and gunner, I must say it is always a high risk high reward to tank bust. we joke about it saying that a dive into a tank bust position is goodbye lib since the pulling up and escaping groundfire/AA is near impossible after slowing to a crawl to bust a tank in the Higby.

    That being said, no i dont think anything should be nerfed on it. It isnt done as often as you think I hesitate more to lean my nose down and fly below 100m to bust. But im sure there are better pilots out there that primary tank bust and adjust their libs to better suit that.

    I heard you can kill MULTIPLE infantry units with 1 magazine of a carbine. How outrageous is THAT?! :D

    Framing the discussion around killing in one clip magazine is bad. Instead what matters is the TTK.

    Understanding that the TTK is only that rapid against your rear armor and that you need to always be concerned about libs in the area (just as you should know that about ESFs circling behind you doing the exact same thing) is just part of the skill of being a good tanker, imo. Tanks are generally weak against air, so tanking without skyguard/air support should always be considered a risk (a walker will help, but isn't going to come close to out-DPSing a liberator if he chooses to go for you.)

    ATM the only change I would like to see is the ability for a stock Skyguard to one-clip a Liberator at close range. Liberators need to fear getting too close to aware Skyguards, like "poop pants" kind of fear. A 2/3 Lib can fly right up to a Skyguard using cover, tank bust from any angle and shredder finish for the pop before the Skyguard can finish the first reload.

    I'm okay with Liberators TBing MBTs and even AP/HEAT/Viper/HE Lightnings to the rear, but the fact that they can so easily kill Skyguards is pretty crazy. That and the Skyguard's TTK against the Liberator is nothing close to the Liberator's TTK against the Skyguard.

    The easy fix to this is to just link vehicle armor to the Skyguard turret. If the Lightning is using the Skyguard turret then it gets a resist against all A2G weaponry that pushes the TTK of a Skyguard up to match the TTK of a Liberator when it is being shot by a Skyguard. In exchange the Lightning using the Skyguard turret should receive an increased and commensurate vulnerability to all ground-based AV weapons.

    Stop pointing your *** to the sky when aiming down into a spawnroom camp fest and you won't get tankbusted nearly as much.
    Stop being the last guy in the tank zerg..
    - Ever seen big cat hunting herds videos? find the weakest most exposed member of the pack, and kill it.. That's the same mentality a lib pilot has. Single the weakest one out, kill it, and then GET out before the herd wakes up to reality and stampedes the hunter.

    I literally cannot remember the last time I was actually legitimately tankbusted.
    Sure I've been pecked to death by a lib.. in like 4 TB passes or just hover following directly above with the dalton.. but I was also nowhere near any friendly flak sources.

    But I certainly can remember the last 6 times I've been *almost tankbusted*.. where I turned enough or dodged to survive.. AND I also shot the lib once with the main cannon, sometimes outright killing it as it wasn't at full hp... and usually if you hit it once, it doesn't try for a 2nd pass.

    I never said tanks counter libs, but libs counter tanks. VR libs dont move, dont shoot back, dont repair, and dont have upgrades.

    Your subjective experience does not outweigh my subjective experience. The fact remains that the TTK for tank buster is incredibly low. And don't assume that's how I play. I don't spawn camp or fart around in the back of an armor column. Getting tankbusted might not happen very often, but when it does it's frustrating enough to come on here and see if anyone else thinks it's stupid and out of balance with the other anti-vehicle/anti-armor weapons.

    You need to remember: Skyguard is a 1/1 vehicle Lib is a 3/3 vehicle do you think a lib would stand any chance at all against 3 SG? No!
    Would you like to have your 2/2 Vanguard outclassed by a 1/1 lightning "armorguard"? Skyguards can hit libs from 500m, Libs are BIG easy targets... SG dont need buffs for sure... just need more of them...

    The problem is that a 1/3 Liberator can take down a 1/1 Skyguard... which again is imbalanced.

    If they made it so that a Liberator would be ineffective unless it had at least two people in it (say implement a 10 second seat switch timer), then maybe you'd have a point. But as it is a 1/3 TB Liberator can almost 1-mag-kill a Skyguard, while tanking enough damage from that Skyguard that it's not even a close contest.
