The state of PS2 and what I feel must change.

The roadmap has already proven to be an ineffective failure. The proposals are often too nondescript -- we have no idea about some of the details behind a proposed change. The up/down vote system is easily subject to abuse by creating accounts or mass up/down voting and totally alienates players who do not read SOE's clunky and non-user friendly forums and website.

There is no way to prioritize what changes we want with the roadmap either. Some things are needed sooner than later, but it doesn't allow you to give that type of feedback. We cannot wait 6 months or 4 months for a meaningful metagame.

How many territories are there that are linked to enemy territories and just abandoned? What happens when I encircle a large base where there is a Red Alert at and clear out the SCUs behind it?
I prefer killing my enemies and not having the game do it for me. PS1 involved breaching the spawn room and clearing it. I prefer that over one way forcefields.

Another solution would be to make the Force Fields hackable. Hack them with an infiltrator and move in to clear it rather than play FF games all day.

Honestly, Influence rarely comes into play. I can't see people crying if it's gone but it wont solve any problems. The fight is still over when the point is taken.

I missed the part where you said IA was random. I kinda like that idea, but you then lose the way to actually funnel people into fights they want to be in. Personally, I avoid biolabs, and will never IA onto one. I don't want the game sending me into 5fps hell.

Lattice does not fix the issue. Having continents designed for an eternal 3-way is the problem.

Great feedback in this thread. Keep up the constructiveness, it goes a long way. :)

I actually like this idea. Kick the cheesy "campers" out of their spawn room and into the 50 tanks, libs, esfs, and multiple infantry platoons camped outside of it continuously bombing every single exit simultaneously. This would definitely benefit attackers valiantly trying to defend themselves against all those "cheesy" campers INSIDE the spawn room.

Sry, I meant for those that want a lattice system, they want one that is similar to the picture I posted, or similar to PS1 in general.
  6. HadesR

Maybe but it's still the fairest way we have to judge peoples views ... Because any up votes can be abused even on this very thread for example ( not saying they are just as an example ) .. so it's the best system available to the players and allows it to be broken down into component parts and not just taken on mass

YES, I knew things would improve around here with Luperza on the scene.

This all would have been ignored before.

You sir are brilliant, everything literally everything you have posted here to day is positive and constructive. The devs need to see this ASAP.

    Agreed 100%

Well, at least Margaret is seeing this. Either way, we all have are opinions that we want to have implemented in the game. This is just a post that Buzz felt were the changed needed.

Because the hex system is a mess far too may things are linked hence why I ended the thread with bringing back lattice. Lattice is such a critical component to the flow and success to this game that for there to be any real progress to be made that has to happen. It's a system that is far too unpredictable and far too difficult to form into a true front line.

Like I said we've molded, changed, worked, edited, restructured and redesigned hexes and the hex system itself and with each change it gets closer and closer to a lattice system. If you have to work and rework a system so many times doesn't that prove it isn't working and something else should be used instead? I think it does.

Kill them when they run outside.

Plenty of things need to be made hackable but that's an infiltrator class issue.

If it rarely comes into play than it should be removed. The fact that it rarely comes into play further proves it's archaic and causes nothing but unneeded frustration.

    Fair enough.

I will admit that I haven't bothered reading the last 5 pages... but regarding the pain field buzz suggested. I just wanted to ask if anyone had already brought up the issue that the devs were trying to avoid, where people are sitting around for 15 mins doing nothing, waiting for the cap to go through after killing the gens/tubes in the original Planetside?

It doesn't matter what they do to the game so long as the game has players. They need players, without players there will be no SC purchases. They shot themselves in the foot when they released the game with incredibly cheesy mode HE/Zephyr which ruined the game for thousands of people. I myself almost quit from the, what seemed like constant, bombardment.

If SoE doesn't start checking itself soon and come up with solutions to keep the current and create new players this game will be dead within six months. SOE, you can't fool your fans.

You cannot abuse upvoting in a forum post. It's not like people's replies are prioritized based on their votes. It's just a copycat of Facebook's "like" system here.

What makes the roadmap even more flawed is that the players themselves cannot contribute directly to it (i.e. I cannot add something to the roadmap directly, that could be approved/disapproved with popular opinion). It is reliant totally on the developers who, frankly, I don't feel have the same understanding and concerns that we have as players playing this game all the time.

That was a long post and a great read. At the moment, I simply do not log-in for individual gameplay. I simply don't. By the time I find a fun fight, it's often already over or ends up being a 1-sided farm while ghostcapping occurs all over the map. The quality of fight simply isn't good.
People that read and respond on these forums need to realise that players do not always know what is best for them. To be restricted feels ickie. To be (gently) forced into a certain action doesn't feel ''free'' despite being in a huge open world. However, having more choice doesn't always improve the game. In order to get the most benefit for the majority, you have to guide players (who are uncoordinated, thus would randomly scatter usually) into a good spot. If you guide 100 people into 2 area, you have two big fights. Guide them into 10 area's and you have 10 small crappy skirmishes that end pretty quickly. I'd rather see those 100 people guided to 2, then 10 areas. Let alone even more then 10 areas as it can sometimes be now.

In my second paragraph I mentioned having a UI element on the map would help far more than a constant time. Even with the influence you have a maximum cap time. In PS1 it showed the cap time on your map which could be implemented showing the influence benefits and penalties for the hack along with an estimated time. If I see over the top of a territory I own "5:15" counting down with "12 TR, 0 NC, 5 VS" I immediately know I should spawn there and help defend against the TR.

15 was too long, make it 10. 10 minutes is a sweet amount of time to either prepare defense or launch a counter attack. Down time is absolutely crucial in this game for those very reasons.

Right now it's offense, offense offense. You're constantly being blitzed and your forces constantly being dispersed. I feel that I nailed it in the first part about this particular issue.

Influence can't be allowed effect capture time. It's dynamic, bases flip far too fast and influence contributes to that. There should be no maximum capture time or minimum capture time but simply a capture time.

Ofc you can ... You can up vote a post without even reading it but based on who wrote it .. If that's not abuse I'm not sure what is

Well they are in the future supposed to be adding players suggestions to the Road map ... but then again what is added will always be down to which direction the Dev's want the game to go ..
Having a system where anything can be posted and just approved on popular opinion is stupid .. Say hello to Dino's in PS2 :p
  19. BuzzCutPsycho

It would because by doing that they're being far more productive and not wasting manpower slots on a continent inside of a base they have no possible chance of winning because they're too busy standing in the back of a spawn room for 10 minutes.

I'm glad you agreed with me and fully understand what I'm advocating.

I thought it was the worst idea. I want to see destroy able spawn tubes like I explained in my earlier post
