The RailJack is a complete blunder. The primary feature of the rifle is the velocity of the shot, but the delay contradicts the weapon. SOE completely ****** this one up and gave us garbage. I'd have been better off with my Longshot if I had known what they did to this rifle. I was excited for a Rail gun sniper rifle to come out, hell I suggested one in the forums, but what I ended up getting killed it.

The weapon is alright I agree a little on the delay part but all this longshot 2.0 talk I think overhyped in the test server made people make up their minds from watching videos and not hands on give it practice and if there's a fix patch keep using when they do and it will make you that much better.
  3. Nilidus

after 300 kills with the railjacky i think its a good weapon for taking out any enemy at any range moving or standing.
i got used to the delay and its not a big deal 'to learn it'.

Don't bother, the forum name brings up some unremarkable level 26 TR who only has 30% time on INF, and 36% on Engineer /w almost no Kills at all with actual Sniping weapons nor any HSK (headshot kill ratio) that I would personally write home about.... yes it sort of fits the bill in that half his kills came from INF loadouts (mostly SMG, k lol...), but it would be pretty sad yet uncannily believable if that was the OP's main character.

And before anyone asks: "Well where's yours??" ... ....^_^

Railjack isn't unique and it very bad compared to the longshot just trialed it and just laughed how bad it is. Whoever bought the railjack is a idiot and is mostly likely regretting the purchase because any T3 BASR can do what the railjack already could and better. Im NC and I bought the TRAP once saturday comes im gonna go on a killing spree.

The perfect post that scream unexperience player.

i would say the Railgun is inferior to the Longshot on pretty much every single scenario.

The Devs need to fix the RailJack.
  8. Hobo Jack

the higher velocity is supposed to make moving targets easier to shoot. the fire delay is contradictory to that combined with the high bullet drop and low magazine size and slow reload there is NO reason to use this gun ever.

It's still early. Once these weapons have been around a while, they'll likely become like other ES weapons such as rocket launchers, weaker than alternatives for all factions.

Oh no you weapon actually uses science. ******* horrible isn't it. Strap yourselves in kiddies, as this Tr Warrant Officer is about to give you untrained rebels a science lesson.

Your gun is a railgun: A large electric circut made of three parts: a power sourcem a pair of parallel rails, and a moving armature.

    Railgun: [IMG]

This is an electric weapon. Generating the power necessary to accelerate rail gun projectiles is a real challenge. Capacitors must store electric charge until a sufficiently large current can be accumulated. While capacitors can be small for some applications, the capacitors found in rail guns are many cubic meters in size. That's why your little gun has a charge, deal with your faction's science. Or go join another ******* faction, you have no reason to complain.

    And you, sir, are clueless.

Give me extensive knowledge about why a PORTABLE RAIL GUN, shouldn't have a charge time. You all constantly want more than what you need, lead your targets. It's a sidegrade, not a straight upgrade. It's not that big of a delay either, you could be carrying a giant-*** battery around with you. In order to fire that railgun. That would slow you considerably.

If you think the TRAP is overpowered, you got some problems, if you think your gonna do bad with the railjack. Stick with the longshot

Psychology plays a big role in your performance, you can't possibly headshot that moving BR 1 Light Assault if you keep thinking you'll miss.

Actually mate, i dont really remember people complaining much about the Vanguard shield, at the time of T2 Striker and ZOE.

It is only a temporary 'most complained about' We all know what happened to T2 striker, ZOE and the Railjack (PTS version), so this will probably be fixed real soon.

The only difference is that railjack is actually the worse of the 3 new ESSR.

Originally all ESSRs were supposed to be hybrids:

    TRAP = close mid range
Phase Shift = Mid Long range
Railjack = Very Short and Very Long range.

They removed the short range feature of the railjack, and they nerfed the longrange feature enough that its not a viable option unless you have a Auraxiam on the Longshot.

Thanks for the physics lesson. But where does it say you have to charge it after you pull the trigger and not before? Why bother with a buzzword ridden weapon if a plain boring gunpowder based one from 20th century rocks your socks off already?
    Can't nanites help?

Except ES rocket launchers are sidegrade/niche weapons. The railjack is a complete downgrade from the longshot.

Because carrying around an already charged weapon is a safety hazard, especially on a battlefield. You ever seen a lithium-ion battery explode ? SInce this is the future, they could be using even heavier alkali metals, even more reactive and dangerous. Not to mention, once the battery goes, it has to be replaced, or recharged.

The battery could also contain H2SO4, which is great for railguns, as it has the abillity to supply very high currents of electricity. Considering that's sulfuric acid, that stuff is going to eat through any simple element it touches. Kevlar, carbon fiber, etc.

It also still takes time for the electricity to travel to the rails, and for a significant charge to build up. Batteries just provide a method in which to store electricity, not conduct it faster.

As countless people have said at this point, regardless of it being in EVERY way worse than the lognshot (yay .5 second faster reload) the devs changed it (and the Phaseshift apparently) in the dead of the night with a footnote in the patch notes. MANY people tested all three on the PTS and went back and forth for weeks trying to get them balanced. Changing them with zero player testing the night before they went live (not on PTS mind you, just in the patch) basically says:

"hmmm well, we appreciate your input, but we are going to change them, and let you buy them with real money or certs if you're lucky, in a different form than what you all spent weeks testing and us tweaking." The railjack is even worse of a travesty because they released it, either so quickly or so dastardly, with a 10 round mag then immediately nerfed it. I was willing to give it the "well, whatever it's another thing to auraxium" with the 10 round mag, but the change back to four rounds in an absolute slap in the face.

This whole thing is either utter incompetence at best or deception at worst. If I did something like that where I work, I would be fired. Though, I'm sure they made a tidy sum in the first 24 hours, so their bean counters are laughing all the way to the bank. Too bad they won't sell anymore phaseshifts or railjacks aside from the poor sap that reads the stats and buys it out of ignorance.

The Railjack is awesome, just find a decent flank and plug away. True you could probably do the same with a Longshot, but I rather like that the Railjack is also not some OP busted absurb farmstick like the Phoenix Launcher was on release.

The gun is fine, you'll get used to it, it looks badass.

    First we had the Jackhammer.

    Now we have the Railjack.

    NC Master Race cannot lose.

That is actually false. Depending on the chemistry of a battery, it can absolutely transfer electricity and build a charge faster. Regardless of the science behind the idea of any of this crap, it's a game and they gimped one if not two factions with these weapons.
