The proton II PPA really needs a buff, it fires stupidly slow and can be outclassed/ outgunned by the stock ballisk, did you guys even test this weapon before you put in into live? What to buff: Increase it's rate of fire to 175 RPM, also increase its damage to tanks so it can work as advertised. Then there's the Saron, it has almost identical stats to the halberd, the only big difference is that it has no bullet drop but is penalized in other areas. It's more of a fashion accessory then a weapon of mass destruction. What to buff: Increase its bullet velocity to 400m/s so it can be an actual upgrade from the halberd.
Saron works fine on Mag. What we need is different guns all together for the harasser for all 3 empires. Continuous laser for VS, explosive bullet machine gun for TR (small splash), Halo-Style Warthog Gauss cannon for NC. Some variant of the ESRLs would be cool, too. And a common pool Nanite Systems decimator type gun.
The Saron actualy (almost) has a higher fire rate than the Halberd. I say "almost" because its firing delay was removed on the test server, if that goes live without a reload speed decrease than VS get a great subsitute for the Halberd. The Proton II PPA, on the other hand, is the worst vehicle mounted secondary in the game, except for maybe the C85 Enforcer, and it still bears the hallmarks of a weapon that got a rushed nerf in early beta, then didnt get a second look again even 6 months after "release". Anyway, compared to the Basilisk, its... technically more accurate (its bullets are so big its hard to miss, and the Basilisk accuracy got buffed on PST), does about the same damage, and shoots much slower.
More or less agreed. The PPA really needs a higher ROF if it's going to be useful. The projectiles are so slow that they can be dodged and often the enemy is behind cover before anything reaches them. Being able to spray a bit more would make it more reliably useful as a... plasma machine gun thing.
One should not discount the PPAs ability to splash. Yes, it's still a bad gun, no questions, but it has that one advantage for which I'd still think it's not actually worse than the Basilisk against Infantry.
They're not going to be on the harasser just yet anyways: https://twitter.com/mhigby/status/329307418565701633 .
Well the saron works great on the Magrider due to its slow movable platform like feel but for the harasser I think an instant fire (no fire delay) higher rate of fire and lowered damage (call it a light saron?) and I think it would flow better on the high speed bouncy harasser. As for the PPA it needs a rate of fire and velocity increase, probably not a damage one since it can already 2 shot infantry I believe, but give it a bigger splash on contact. As it stands the splash (I believe) is no bigger than the saron's so it's utterly worthless as is. Basically the ppa should be a more powerful version of the lasher to represent that it's a vehicle mounted cannon.
