The ONLY reason zerg outfits cannot be beaten

    I just checked, it's at 999999.000000
So uh...yeah...it's just the game itself choking on extreme number of players in an area.
  2. Fligsnurt

    ytman from PR?

The biggest that I remember was the early beta sunderer exploit. I messaged one of them and the reasoning for using it consistantly day in, day out was that, "It's in the game so it's fair game. If they didn't want us to use it they would have removed it."
  3. SilentWindOfDoom

That sure is relevant today. Got anything that actually matters presently?
  4. Fligsnurt

Does it matter if it was yesterday or in beta? It's the same game so this fact is still very relevant despite when it happened. Matter of the fact was that mixed with the general behavior issues they seem to have makes them out to be a rather rubbish outfit in the public eye.
  5. SilentWindOfDoom

It does, yes. When you accuse someone of exploiting to this day, it matters very much. Since you have no evidence, you'd do well to keep such accusations to yourself.
  6. MagnumOpus

Nice try there is exactly zero chance that you had a conversation that lucid with a GOON.
  7. Fligsnurt

Never said I had a conversation with anyone from goon so I don't know why you bothered with this.

Not really in need of proof since anybody that played beta on that server knew what was happening TE were the first to overly exploit the sunderer repair aura and the only way to counter them was for the other two factions to do the same back. Within a week of TE rolling it out continuously w/e they went the exploit ended up being used wide spread across the factions. And not much of an accusation as the truth. Don't really care what you think either way, just voicing my opinion on that outfit.

I don't play on the mentioned servers or really follow any of the indviduals being called out, but just to clarify.

A zerg horde, a zerg or zerging isn't about being unorganized. Some zergs are, some aren't, what its really about is numbers. Its about taking all of your resources and throwing them against a target to simply overwhelm them. When you hear something like "200:20 odds" that is a zerg. It can be an organized zerg but a zerg none the less.

You can take the best 20 infantry players in the game, put them against 200 people and even give them a half decent spot to hold and they will still get over run. When your forces simply outnumber the opposition you *can* substitute numbers for talent. It doesn't mean every zerg player is awful, but if you are awful it is your best place to be for a win.

If you are in an organized platoon(s) what *should* happen is you get your sit rep about the base you are attacking and defending and apply the correct amount of force to it (which most of the time = larger force) and send the rest of your resources elsewhere to cap more of the map. What ends up happening though is players realize the easiest common denominator to win is "Bring more" which to be sure the bring more than enough translates into "Bring ALL" [of your forces].

It is after all your best chance at victory, albeit impractial for the "War" overall.
  9. MagnumOpus

Sorry sometimes I forget whether I'm in GOON or The Enclave since we're both so good at the game.
  10. Flarestar

I'm curious, since I see statements like this a lot about GOONS, but I don't ever seem to have any run-ins with them myself. What have they actually done that's so bad, or is this another case of "Everyone who posts to 4Chan is an immature hateful pedophile" and "Everyone from Reddit just reposts terrible memes"? I mean I know about the EVE stuff, which kinda comes off as playing EVE the way EVE was designed to be played, but other than that I haven't really heard any horror stories.
  11. 13lackCats

And all this time I thought it was because people don't have enough sense to fight somewhere other than their own spawn.

    I sit corrected.
  12. SilentWindOfDoom

People are just hating for whatever reason they can find. If that means painting giant communities like Reddit and SomethingAweful with a single brush then that is what they'll do. EVEgoons generally skirt what is "legal" but they dont outright cheat at the game. Beside that they're pretty good at the game. I dont know how much overlap there is between EVEgoons and PS2goons but it doesnt seem to apply to PS2 just yet, they're pretty terrible here, then again.. they were terrible at EVE too once upon a time.

Y'all need to give these outfits time to mature, the game hasnt been out that long.
  13. Fligsnurt

lol Honestly I have run side by side with goon before they seemed pretty coordinated and all, best thing I have had happen with them was one started playing a Winston Churchill speech over proxy after we had successfully pushed out the TE and stopped the TR from taking Amerish from us. Was a lot of fun and that speech made it all just feel so epic.
  14. Eduard K.

Haha, the enclave kids make sure to always t-bag me if buzz put them on sugar rush mode and they just zerg pushed everything.

Too bad that for every time I am an outnumbered grunt, I killed them like 100 times as aircraft.

You can't get rid of zergfits, they are my number one source of exp.
  15. Cl1mh4224rd

It amazes me how easily some members of The Enclave get upset. Then when they steamroll you, they talk trash. It's all very strange and immature.
  16. PEETREE

...because op mentioned the enclave in his post, no?
  17. Nikushimi

the "render" distance has nothing to do with his spec's, or the client in general, it is server sided. The reasoning behind it is to reduce the server load and bandwidth costs (its not a tech limitation, its just SOE keeping the upkeep to a minimum). This is nothing new a number of MMO's use similar systems (primarily F2P's).
  18. Lasterba

    TLDR;

Nuh uh....We don't zerg, YOU zerg. Derp.
  19. Sappo

goons have a whimsical sense of humor but something about the culture of SA leads them to be very, very prone to treating anyone not a goon or an immediate ally they can benefit from like a subhuman who only exists for their amusement; the way they talk about and treat "pubbies" in other competitive team games is really stupid and offensive. I know nothing about how they treat people on their own faction in this game, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear the answer is "pretty bad". A lot of the real griefing is gone from PS2, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear about organized teams of engineers locking in the warpgate for a lark or competitive plane flipping in the warpgate.

Source; playing with em for quite a few years, before I got grossed out by their antics and attitudes and started actively avoiding any goon squads anywhere in any game.
  20. MeDPaX

I wasn't talking about anything to do with the game--but his miss quoted stats on his ram heh
