The ONLY reason zerg outfits cannot be beaten

I've watched buzz stream though and I will say he can aim just fine but I can't speak for any of the other members. It'd be cool if you could check outfit stats on planetside universe.

I've seen a lot of excuses for why people lost a battle, but i've never seen such a terrible excuse.

    OP mad cuz bad.

If you are only seeing 20 meters, maybe you need to change the render distance in the settings of the game.
I had that happenning to me and after i changed. it became much better.

What you need to do is editing the file "UserOptions.ini", that stays inside your planetside folder.
    Look for "RenderDistance= -1.000"
if it is set as a minus 1 ( -1), then your game chooses which things he wants to render, so you see really far when it is empty but you cant see beyong 10-20 meters when tehre is too many peoples around.

I changed to 1800 and i dont have problems with that anymore.

    I hope it helps.

Personally speaking, with the outfit I'm in, i generally enjoy the fights with The Enclave that we have. Granted, when you are outnumbered 20 to 1 they can be frustraiting, but usually they are extremely fun fights. They make us have to evaluate our stratagies, change our tactics and basically keep us on our toes. Its these kind of meaningful battles that keeps this game engaging and fun to play.

I'll give that a shot. Can't hurt to try. I love the big fights, no matter who I'm fighting, I just hate that most of my long range weapons are rendered useless. Perhaps this alteration will help.

Well, I suppose I used the word 'zerg' loosely. When I think of 'zerg' tactics, I think of old Starcraft of gathering a whole mess of one type of unit and throwing it at a problem. No offense, but TE seems to like doing that. Specially the mass Mossy runs. It may very well be coordinated with a tactic in mind. But you know what you see on the other side? Flying/riding/walking up to what you thought was empty territory only to have 30+ units suddenly render. If it wasn't for this, I'd be more than happy to fight y'all and Goon and whoever else.

    This entire topic is ridiculous.

Planetside 2 is a game that promotes massive conflict on a massive scale. Complaining about any one faction, outfit or group of players is bringing too many players or too many of anything in a game about massive conflict is just absurd to the point I can only assume the original poster was trolling. No one is intentionally exploiting rendering and pretty sure all sides find it equally frustrating.

Like the way every VS outfit masses up Magriders and camps a base? You are just being silly.

You'll see massed mossies/libs only when the outfit is fighting against overwhelming numbers of armor/sunderers. It is the only viable tactic to turn the tables, complaining about it is silly, as is labeling it as "zerging". What would you have the outfit do instead? Play fair and pull armor? just infantry zerg against overwhelming numbers?

When the enemy rolls on you with rocks, you're gonna roll on them with paper. At least.. if you want to win.
  9. Yetskii

Ahh, the Enclave...talks crap when they out number you, then when they start to lose, Buzzcut then /tells you that he farmed you....

I'm in a 200+ person outfit and we run multiple platoons as well. This guy here has a point, you can't just assume large coordinated platoons are "zerg" platoons. Since day 1 we have been trying to grow more and more coordinated every day. Mass galaxy drops, sunderers full of max units, full air squadron, etc... We steam roll not because we are "zerging" but because we are communicating and working together as a unit and that will always be far superior any day.

Yes I can agree that the rendering issue can be a problem, that's a no brainer. But this zerging term you guys are using is misleading. The game is a massively multiplayer game. In its truest sense the game is a zerging like game. But a mindless zerg will not always win and will certainly never win against a coordinated platoon.

The bickering about zergs to me is a complaint made solely by those people who wish to play casual and/or solo. Join us or die.

Why is an LOD option not a fix? Further away from you = less pixels being drawn/rendered. Sure, it makes the toons look crappy, but there are ways to mitigate that. Concessions for zoom lenses have to be built in, but still...the current mode of hiding behind a renderwall breaks immersion jarringly.

Do these GOONS have any relation to Goonswarm from Eve Online? If so, I would take any of their tut-tutting about exploiting the game mechanics/engine with a huge grain of salt.
  12. Yetskii

Buzzcut is such a class act...he is probably gonna come in here and say it is a photochop...lol

From what I understand, yes, the GOON outfit on Matherson is from Goonswarm on EO.

I thought the Enclave was alright for a while, enjoyed fighting against them for their semi-organized response.

Nowadays I avoid them. It's not fun fighting with a group of people who seem to be encouraged to behave in an unsportsmanlike and infantile way.

There are far more polite nano-soldiers for me to engage.
  15. Tobax

You don't "coordinate" that many people in a meaningful way you just put a point down or tell them all where to go just like we dfid in PS1 with the zerg, plus since PS1 pops were 133 per empire per cont it means that 150 of you has been a zerg since forever.
  16. footjam

I am in The Vindicators VS on Matherson and I love fighting The Enclave. I am sure I will be rebuffed for saying this but we beat the enclave all the time with smaller numbers. They never stick around for a fight once you bloody their noses and will usually try to go around us once they have been smacked around. They have ran away from bases as we roll in. We have stopped them at Quartz Ridge more times than I can count. Its all about knowing where to fight overwhelming numbers, pick your choke point. Don't think you are going to best them in open field combat as their numbers will simply overwhelm you. Find terrain that nullifies their armor/HA advantage. Their mossy swarm is welcomed, we all pull bursters and farm the certs.

I never even notice Goon rolling huge numbers, I see them in game but have never thought "That is a lot of Goons." I love fighting the NC because I know they won't just give up after their first wave is broken. The Enclave seem to have ADD for targets and bounce around looking for people to steamroll, not fight. The rest of the TR is split in following the man with the suicide macro or trying to do something away from their rolling ball of spamburgers. This renders the rest of the TR good for multiple squads but rarely do see multiple platoons running around outside of the spamburgers.

As for them not rendering, it works both ways so you need to get your team to move up and stop sniping kills. Bio Labs are easy to defend with a concerted effort from 40 people, let alone 200. If it still bothers you, side step the spamburger ball and let it roll through, just go back in and recap the base once they have all pulled away by the suicide macro's ego.
  17. ytman

Its not just Goon. Its an alliance of outfits. Just like the Goonswarm Alliance on Eve.

What I don't get is why people think they have a chance against larger numbers... SIZE MATTERS... thats the freaking tag line.
  18. smokemaker

    LOL

you mean a group got together, used it numbers, and won a battle?
    wow how abusive....

    become one with the zerg.
  19. Aerolath

Someone call the wambulance, or failing that RadarX
  20. Tvayumat

Footjam... I feel like you were slapping me around as an LA in a bio lab the other day. Good fight, that one.
