The new cloak can be seen way to far away.

While it's nice it's now the same on all setting ( I guess) The cloak an be spotted way to far away.

And, from sprinting to standing still takes too long for the cloak to change from sprinting mode. What is it, about 2 seconds? That's way too long when in combat!

    It just sucks right now.

A second thing. When getting hit when cloaked we light up like a lighthouse, remove that feature please. It means one random bullet hitting you and you get 10+ guys shooting at you in the direction where you are running. Changing direciton doesnt work either. Just annoying.

Cloak helps avoid notice not make you unseen.
People identify a enemy in these steps. Their silhouette, movement, their colors, their facing, then other minor factors.
Being able to take away the first method is HUGE, even though people can compile all of them in only a fraction of a second, removing the first or second is the difference between people looking at something else or putting their sights on you.

you shouldnt be able to spot a cloaker from past 50 meters though

i spot cloakers with my mosquito all the day, because that stupid shimmer effect that the cloak now has on all the settings, it's ridicolously easy to see

and the cloak noise is still 250 meters

the cloak has some counterplay at close range? ok but i shouldnt be able to spot cloakers at sniping range
  4. _itg

The cloak always sucked this much. It's just that now you don't occasionally get lucky running across someone who would have seen you if their settings were higher. Now that the settings are normalized, maybe we can finally talk about tweaking overall visibility. I think things are mostly fine for the hunter cloak, but the stalker cloak needs some serious improvement. For a subclass that NEEDs to be invisible to survive, the stalker cloak doesn't do its job quite well enough--especially since anyone can equip the hard counter flashlight to their commissioner.

i believe SOE did this so u have a chance against snipers
the problem here is the close range smg infil
it's still possible to play the CQC infil it's only harder and u have to be smarter

the new rookie that wants to play as a infil will only play as a sniper and learn that CQC means getting killed
the veteran sniper has learned how to get up close, will put the sniper rifle in the closet and go with the smg, pistol, x-bow and knife

i know i know the rookies want to play with the smg too
so until SOE have a differed setting on the infil cloak with the smg separating it from the sniper cloak ( if it ever will be changed )
u wave to wait and have some more knowledge on how to smg
  6. Borsty

Didn't SOE say they only changed the cloak on lower graphics settings, making you consistently difficult/easy to see across all settings?
From what I can tell, nothing has changed on my settings. And the cloak is fine, you are easily seen during the day when sprinting at close ranges, and almost impossible to see when sitting in a dark corner at night. Also the distance makes a huge difference, even if you know where a cloaked infiltrator is and you look through your scope, he won't show.

yes they did only i feel soothing went wrong all the infils can be seen easier
i think they changed all off the cloak settings to high graphics
and most people played on low and medium so now all infils are better seen by these players
this explains why the infils are faster to be seen = easier to kill
it's not a problem if u know u can bee seen earlier for veterans
i also understand this will be frustrating to some players especially for the beginner infils

They reverted back to the old days of low settings making it ridiculously easy to see cloakers, swinging the pendulum in the other direction.

The jagged edges, missing particle effects, etc., at low make it much easier to see cloakers at low settings independent of whether the shader effect is the same or not.

I haven't noticed too much of a difference in-game whilst stalking. I've been spotted a few times, but these times usually were in idiotically open places that I shouldn't have been hiding in to begin with. I've still had countless 'veterans' step right on top of me without looking back. I think the first thing to remember is that while we are now more visible to players on lower settings, these players are no smarter or less oblivious than they were prior to the update. Don't let this change placebo you. Stay smarter than your opponents, be creative in your hiding spots and remember that we fight with our wits and creativity, not with our face-smashing!

wrong, i remember " the old days of low settings" and it is nothing like it, during those time i was able to see clocked infils from a mile away on low setings, after they change that you couldnt see clocked infils at all on lowest setings, after the last patch cloack is just the same acros all setings which makes things even.

It definitely has gotten a bit ridiculous, I'm being spotted from +75m out like it is nothing, and I'm spotting and TRACKING out to around 60m. That is a bit out of hand for the recoil and inaccuracy the field weapons have and unacceptable when you consider that you can't even rely on juking now, since if my poor eyes are tracking you that far imagine what someone who isn't wearing coke-bottles can do. The Infil needs to be able to close to 40m without much threat of spotting to make use of field weapons. And it helps to not have random people spotting you when changing position for sniping.

    FYI

I can´t spot any cloaker when he´s cloaked (by Pressing Q). Must be a bug.

Not that i do play as a infil but i like to hunt them down with any other class (just like they like to hunt me down).
Maby you already know it, that if you have been spottet or jumped into a sensor dart, or shoot your sniper rifle without a silencer, you can be seen on the minimap.

The people who use the minimap will maby find you.

I´ve been able to find some cloaker this way:
    They RUN into my direction.
They JUMP in front of me.
Those may be the "unskilled" cloaker that really deserve to die.

The way cloak works has not changed at all...
The only thing that has changed is it now looks the same on low as it does on medium..

YOU WERE ALWAYS THAT EASY TO SEE.

Only for the last few months did low give you a false sense of you being hard to see.
On low before you were a 100% visible gray shadow, even easier than how it is is now...
On medium or higher you have been a crystal statue like you are now since launch.

It is like none of you have watched a single infiltrator youtube video since launch.. SMH.

Don't move, don't cloak next to any lighting ( spawn rooms with those lite wall panels will show the infiltrator as a black shadow), always crouch walk when moving, don't spot enemies you will be heard...

I don't mind, I've been in spawn rooms so many times right next to the capture object with a room full of enemies and not one of them saw me. Wait em out, they will leave, you will start the capture process, they will come in infuriated, drop a prox mine on em.

I think of it as this - Cloaking isn't invisibility, it's technological camo only as good as the background around you. If it's complex, lots of color variations you have a better chance of being spotted.

Infiltrator is broken ATM, there is no two ways around that fact. The WHOLE class needs to be reworked from the floor up!
  16. Sneakle

Crouch is not good for the cloak either, only for stalker a wee bit. Sitting down not moving doesnt help either. Its just bad design.
  17. PWGuy93

I don't view it as bad design at all.

As much as it frustrates me to have my infiltrator spotted and killed, it doesn't happen all the time, it's actually pretty rare and probably why it feels so annoying. My char gets into places and moves around with a great deal of freedom.

To have cloaks work better than they do (outside of fixing known bugs) isn't high on my priority list of things for the devs to work on. I play other classes and know the weaknesses of the infiltrator and use them. Without Any weaknesses the infiltrator would be way too powerful... heck there's plenty who think it's overpowered as is.
  18. Cyndico

I'm glad to see that they were working towards the same visual platform for the infiltrator, and I do really like the visual aesthetic of it while playing as one, but you can be seen way too easily.

And I don't speak this from the perspective of just playing as one; enemy infiltrators are extremely easy to see, maybe even easier than regular infantry to an extent. Seriously, they're just ridiculously easy kills, and it frustrates me that infiltrators are just sitting ducks.

The class already has the disadvantage of having lower health/shields/whatever than the other classes, meaning that in a firefight it's extremely probable that they'll be gunned down. The only way to use a cloak at this point is if you're sniping from miles away, and even at that I've been "counter-sniped" while cloaked numerous times, and done the same to others. CQC barely works now for the class, as you're basically more hidden if you just roll with Light Assault and camp on top of a building.

I understand this is how it was for many players beforehand, but I think the graphical difference really did give the class a real balance (relatively speaking), since the infiltrator was made specifically to use a cloak. The cloak has a timer and recharge time, so it's not as if cloakers can stay cloaked for forever (unless they use Stalker I guess). I think the old cloak, the gray mist thing, worked well. If you looked hard enough, you could see them, but it wasn't obvious. Now if an infiltrator is running anywhere across my screen within like 50 yards it's an instant kill.

Cloaks just need to be reworked altogether. It defeats the purpose of being an infiltrator really, unless you just want to hack terminals all day long.
