The Game Is So Realistic Now

It was surreal to watch a Sundy, 2x Lightning and 2x MBT flee from the wrath of a foot zerg of around 20 infantry. The sheer volume of dumbfires being lobbed at the fleeing vehicles was spectacular.

Realism was never the goal of this franchise. We must correct this disgrace to its name, whatever you claim it is.
You'd be a fool if you didn't shift it into reverse at least.

When vehicles are as spammable as they are, they shouldn't be "realistic".

Id prefer it vehicles felt more like proper monsters but were much more rarely obtained.(MBT-Lib-Gal:750 nanites,ESF:600 nanites etc)But with their current cost they re well balanced.

yeah... well you know, having an airsoft that fires faster and quicker than some guns in the game does ruin some aspects of that hhhh
but a tank that runs from 20 infantry is logical
why? its a known tactic, ambushing the enemy with rocket artillery etc... from bushes trees mines and such
its a known tactic since ww2.
  5. Tasogie

Sorry mate, But you have no idea what "real" is. This is about as far from it as you can get an still be on same planet. :)
  6. Pacster3

You are right. In real life it would need exactly ONE infantry to do that with a guided rocket launcher from like 2 miles away. THAT is reality today. Tanks are obsolete unless you are fighting against 3rd world nations or in a place where infantry can't hide at all(but there tanks would be shreddered by drones).
You think tanks are killer machines? We are not in the 1970s anymore. Welcome to reality.
  7. Pelojian

tanks are not obsolete in modern warfare, to take out a tank from 2 miles away you need a unit equipped with a javelin or TOW missile, which proportionally armies do not tend to have a lot of compared to how many tanks they field.

meaning tanks will still remain viable as an anti infantry and anti tank platform, even before you consider that active defense systems are in development for tanks, one of them being armor plates that can be launched off the tank to intercept a missile fired at them by ground forces.

if you want to ask about AT weaponry or tanks your best bet for good information is colonelchingles.
  8. Tasogie

Every platoon has a javelin and AT launchers as standard loadout in first world countries
  9. Pelojian

we aren't talking about a 1vs1 comparison, the launchers have weaknesses of their own that can be exploited with the right units, merely because a counter weapon becomes common doesn't mean the countered unit is obsolete.

look at aircraft, when they were first used in war there weren't effective counters to them, armies adapted and came up with counters.

now any first world army will have effective anti aircraft, that doesn't suddenly make aircraft useless. aircraft will continue to be used and armies will find counter strategies and scientists will devise new technology to counter or reduce the effectiveness of enemy weapons.

trophy and winter coat are two systems that actually saved lives - sadly it would break the whole game as it would make certain vehicles - invinsible
but i would be happy if the sundrers would have it as anti ground protection and tanks would be able to hide beside the sundy(5 meter radius - no more and up to 2 rockets every 10 sec)

Real world tank cost: 2 to 15 million. Excluding ongoing costs for repairs, fuel and maintenance.
Real world cost of a single tank round: between 1.500 to 35.000.
Real world cost of grenades: +/-35 dollars.
Real world cost of c4 per pound: 11 to 20 dollars

PS2 tank cost when compared to Grenades or C4: 150 to 300 dollars. You are Lucky you can fire your gun without destroying your vehicle. You are Lucky it has armor stronger than paper, or an engine that actually functions. You are Lucky the tank doesnt need to pay for its shells, its fuel, the cost of repairing it after damage. You are Lucky your tank cant be disabled by a shot at the tracks, the gun or the turretring, or worse a shot that penetrates into the ammo compartment.

    Stop complaining
Oh and seriously, with 2 AP lightnings (me and my friend) I would have been able to stop 20 infantry dudes, in fact we did after the latest "upgrade" to infantry AV.

If you want to have tanks get the same oomph as modern day tanks, you can only get it by giving infantry actually effective tools to murder tanks right back. But most of you guys dont want that, you just want to murder practically defenseless people so you can feel good about yourself.

trophy is more a point that 'tanks are not obsolete' in modern combat regardless of what tier nations are fighting.

i agree 2 well played tanks can defeat a bunch of unskilled infantry easy especially if they move around enough to keep dodging AT fire.

That does seem surreal. All the vehicles had to do was shoot the super-squishy infantry while using their superior mobility to evade the 85 m/s default rocket launcher's projectile.

Ah really? When was the last time a first world nation got attacked by air or tanks? You know how many tanks Russia lost in Afghanistan and Chechen? And those people didn't have many state of the art weapons. They are already losing that much against third world nations, that they are scared to death by the imagination of attacking a second let alone first world nation.
You are free to believe that the defensive systems work against laser guided missiles etc...but all you have for that are propaganda videos. And just for your info...the patriot defensive system is today not even as good as they claimed it was before the iraq war(and yeah...that's 20 years of development and they shall shoot down projectiles that are bigger and fly in a predictable angle for quite some time). You really DON'T want to sit in a tank in a modern war...really not.
  15. Movoza

I agree, that doesn't sound realistic at all.

They should all fire wire-guided missiles.

Why is always the most state of the art anti-tank missiles compared to 20 year old technology that has only been updated a few times, but not the new state of the art anti-tank missiles? Why is this system compared to the PS2 launchers, that are quite unrealistic in all regards with their incredibly slow speeds and insane drop? They are rockets. They are meant to be more accurate over long distance because of their thrust and not losing speed (they can even gain speed). Why is it assumed that these would be put onto tanks of Auraxis, which are quite frankly insanely simple tanks with few advanced technologies? I always expect that to be a cause of the quick build times of the tanks, which would take longer if more complex technology would be applied. A bit like the answer of Russia to the highly advanced tanks the Germans put into the field en mass. They just build basically armoured tractors with a big gun and put so many out onto the field, together with some very simple build design to deflect some of the incoming fire (sloped front) and totally crushed the enemy with numbers. This is favoured on Auraxis and as the rocket launchers behave the same way. They can be fielded in great numbers as well.
