I've seen this asked a bunch of times, so I figured I would post this and hope it helps some people out. A lot of people go to download Planetside 2 for the first time, and get a G25 Error, then they get discouraged because they figure they can't play the game. While this may be true, it also may not be true. Basically a G25 error is telling you your video card can't handle the game. So your first step is to find out if your computer can even handle the game. I suggest this site http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri. Just type in Planetside 2, and it should let you know where you stand. Keep in mind if your playing on Mom's 6 year old laptop, or some crappy ancient computer, chances are good you're not going to be able to handle this game. Now, for the rest of you playing on a halfway decent rig, you still have a chance to play. Buried in your PS2 folder is a little gem called UserOptions.ini. This is the key to your success. If you downloaded the game from the PS2 website then it's located here C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2 or here C:\Program Files (x86)\PlanetSide 2. If you downloaded the game from Steam, then I suggest looking here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PlanetSide 2. However, you may not find the UserOptions.ini in any of those locations. Because PS2 doesn't download a copy of it until you actually enter the game for the first time. Don't stress, you still have hope. If you know someone who plays PS2, simply ask them to copy their useroptions and send it to you. Or feel free to send me a personal message here and I'll email you a copy of mine. (I've done 3 fresh installs of PS2, and 1 time it DID download a useroptions. So I suggest checking the folders as your first step) Once you get it, simply open it with Notepad, and change all the settings to their lowest setting. (If I send you a copy, I'll do it for you). You have to change the resolution to 800x600, turn off everything that you can turn off, and lower the graphics to 1. Set view distance to 500. Then copy and paste the ini into your PS2 folder and you should be golden. (If it still doesn't work then yea, your computer really can't handle PS2, sorry) Basically you're trying to trick your computer into thinking the game is easy to run, and the game into thinking your computer can handle it. Don't worry, once you get into the game for the first time, then you can play around with the settings and graphics. You won't be stuck at 800x600 resolution or crap graphics. There are plenty of threads on how to optimize the ini file to get a mix of graphics and performance. I know how bad it sucks seeing a G25 pop up. I got one myself after game update 4. I had changed a bunch of settings the night before and after the update everything went zonky. Resetting the ini file to the lowest settings fixed everything for me, and I've sent several people ini files and helped them get into game. Hopefully this will help you get into the game, which really is amazing.
95% of improper G25 errors that I've been asked about are due to drivers that had not been updated in several months or years. I'd say that for first-time players receiving that error, the enormous majority are either severely underpowered systems or driver issues. A small minority are configuration errors.
Dude my computer is ******* fast. And this thing says it's not fast enough!!! What, do I need a custom PC?!?!?!?! Such crap.
Yay, no information whatsoever! Specs? It's probably not as fast as you think it is or your have atrociously old drivers.
That means literally nothing. A $1,000 Scamware is typically about as powerful as a $700 self-build system, making it only barely mid-range. Since you've given me no useful information, I'm going to guess a mid-grade i5, 8GB RAM, and a GT645. That's atrocious for a grand, but enough for PS2. Since you 1) bought an Alienware and 2) said "$1000 2013 Alienware" when I asked for system specs, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you know very little about computers. This in turn suggests that you've never updated your video drivers beyond the basic terrible ones that Dell installed. Do that. http://www.geforce.com/drivers
I am having this issue also. Can you let me know what the heck is going on??????????????? I will leave my drive info below picture wise.... https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/h...=d5739183bc5f18a3bd142007584851dd&oe=55BF2D64
This is just a heads up to all people experiencing this error when they were previously able to play the game; I actually found it by accident and no one else has been able to provide a solution beyond editing the user options file, despite if you were playing the game a few days before the error . I found that while performing computer maintenance, my Microsoft visual redistributable was updated after being detected without the latest update . Rolling back this update fixed planetside . I can only assume that the update went wrong
Sorry to anyone who posted in this thread and didn't get a reply from me. I been absent for a long time due to real life issues, mostly dealing with my new son. Sorry I wasn't around to help ya.
