The Emerald NC Actually Won An Alert

I had been thinking to go back to VS recently but yeah, with this new pop imbalance, I prefer to stay NC. Also got to say, its more fun to fight actual players than NC headless, the only downside I've found is that a lot of the old-nc that were awful switched to vs thinking it would make them good suddenly. So I feel kind of "meh" right now.

    GINYU FORCE RULES!

Ya ever heard of .... just lettin' it go? Telling other people how to play has nothing to do with the topic anyway.

NC won an alert? Wow! We can actually do that? In my 2+ years of playing(Miller) I've seen literally *one* alert won by NC, so this is the second one I know of. Kinda sad, when you think about it...

Real talk, you should really adjust your mouse sensitivity to smooth things out. I noticed more than a few times your aim was super jittery beyond even the recoil of the weapon.

hahaha I think the NC just don't care about alerts and would rather farm 48+. Also the NC as a whole can be sometimes disappointing, but there are in fact some very good factions on the NC.

Holy crap that's like the first time in a month.

That is a plus; I get stiff competition at very least in fighting the VS numbers.

Also, we won another alert today :D

Was surprised but pleasantly. Then on Esamir we had typical bad NC leadership whining about losing a base in Orders chat, and it wasnt even an alert. I think most of the blame lies on those leaders the whine and moan on Orders and in Leader chat about things; always saying derogatory things about the rest of the NC. Personally, the more of that I see, the less I feel inclined to help. Im sure there are a lot of players just like me. Im actually putting together a bunch of clips for a video on bad leadership and what it does to the faction as a whole.

I feel like a lot of 3D-Square will be present in that video. I'm usually just ignoring those (that) guy(s), and do my own little thing with my squad/platoon/myself, I just feel bad for newer players who don't know any better

Ill have to block out names because the last two threads I started that showed any names got removed completely by moderators. Then I got suspended from the forums for mentioning that happening. Im sure we will all know who is who though. ;)

I play the same. Ignore the rabble, just do my thing with a couple/few friends. Maybe if we're in a Lib or tanking I throw whatever force we have into a smaller battle that is asking for support, but its been a long while since that happened. Pretty sure it was pre-Hossin during an Alert on Amersih; we showed up in a Lib and gave them air support until the flak got crazy and drove us out.

Its nice though, when someone asks for help in a fight, and we can actually show up and help out. That never happens for those who rage in Orders chat though.

Miller NC win plenty of prime time alerts. Off peak alerts don't really mean much, at this point you're better off looking for a good fight, than play the objective.

I've been seriously considering forking over the 200 certs for orders chat just so that I can give people more constructive orders than typical Emerald NC "leadership" right now. Even when they aren't insulting you a lot of times their idea of tactics seems nonexistent. So you want us to attack/defend a base? Against what? Is there a big vehicle swarm around it? Lots of air units? Should we attack from a particular angle? Can we get confirmation of where their main AMS is? They just don't tell you what you need to know, like they expect you to throw yourself into a meat grinder for their sake.

And then much of this seems very self-centered and reactionary based on bases they're fighting at, not what would help the overall situation. In war (or perhaps in Planetside 2 alerts), the way is avoiding what is strong (such as those 96+/96+ deadlocks that never go anywhere) and attacking what is weak, opening up new attack lines and pushing down them quickly before the enemy can organize a defense. Even if the elite GOKU Redeployside kill-squads show up, sometimes the best strategy, especially at those final margins, is to simply push to attack as much territory as possible and force the enemy to make hard decisions/otherwise waste time going from base to base to diffuse situations. Time is of the essence: The more time you spend doing stuff productive to acquire/secure your lead, the higher you raise the bar on the enemy to be efficient in putting you down lest they spend too much time simply fighting you off to do anything effective.

But as bad as leadership can be, sometimes the regular guys can be even worse. They linger in secure bases, expect other people to provide AMS support, often take a long time to get in them/don't even bother, won't provide vehicle escorts, or pull so many tanks that no one's left to actually fight in the base, don't help protect AMS or otherwise provide support for the people who need it. It can feel very unrewarding to form up a squad and it feels like you're trying to babysit a bunch of bloodthirsty children who aren't happy unless they're getting farmed in a big stalemate that's going nowhere, because that's a "fight" for them.

So guys, if you think you have what it takes to provide effective leadership, you should really step up to the plate and help people out. If not, find the guys who do and seriously help them. Listen to what they have to say and learn from each other.

And here I thought the map had been turned permanently purple.

Command channel voice chat is annoying, don't do it ;)
  15. TheShrapnelKing

Well as I've tried lower settings before I'd usually chalk that up to me just not having good aim, which I don't, but since your advice obviously carries weight I'll try it.

Ive got 100% leadership certs but the most I use is smoke to mark enemy positions and the occasional attack/defend icon. I used to use all of it and work with Leadership way back in the Jaeger days but any more, its an exercise in frustration. I believe right before the merge was the last time I did anything to support leadership asking for help, because it was an alert and they asked in a mature way. We were just one Lib crew but it was something we could help with and did. Id certainly be inclined to go where help might be needed if it didnt seem like a bunch of Red Bull Ragers on Leader chat.

You're 100% correct in that they are usually raging over their own personal fights and bases that dont even mean anything - though now and then there is a hint of actual thinking and tactics mixed in with the derision and disdain. I usually evaluate what those pubbies are lacking and fill in if Im lone wolfing. Hmm, these guys have 9 repair sunderers but no ammo sunderer and the next base back doesnt even have an ammo tower - guess Ill pull my ammo sundy. Oh look, they keep losing their AMS over and over again. Ill bring one with deploy shield, plop a motion spotter down and babysit the darn thing til we flip the base. All that jazz.

I suppose I could do more by putting all that old leadership experience to work but quite honestly, I have more fun Lone Wolfing or doing small squad ops. Its kind of a vicious cycle; I dont want to lead because our leadership sucks, and our leadership sucks because they guys who might be good dont want to lead.
  17. Siilk

What time in which time zone is "prime time" for Miller? An honest question. I saw quite a lot of people hanging on Miller pretty much regardless of when I log in so I really have no idea what is considered "prime".
  18. TheShrapnelKing

You have no idea how many times I've wanted to intervene in command chat and just shout some sense into people and some goddamn logic. I've seen them bicker and argue and then make mistakes I caught from a mile away but never brought up because someone like "Wisdom"cube might insist yet again only his ideas are the right ones. It's stupid, considering who I am, but a lot of the time I actually think I know better than the whole of command does.

Then again, I am in no actual position to order anyone around. I don't join outfits because I want no commitments and I don't lead units because I usually prefer to lone wolf with a few of my friends, and I am an infantryman so I am mostly blind to the intricacies of armour and air units and even of basic things like sunderer logistics because I never use the damn things. So I can't solve it, because I have no experience to back it up. It's going to be up to people like you who actually have platoon/outfit level experience to get things done, or this faction will continue to crash and burn.

It's a pathetic commentary on our state, but we win so little that my primary objective these days is simply to achieve as high a KD as possible against as many Vanu as possible because I hate their guts, since I can't trust my teammates to deliver me satisfaction through actually winning battles.

It is tough to change especially when you spend so much time playing with certain settings because you have that muscle memory established and you might not see an immediate boost in performance. Your video reminded me of what it looked like when I played with my 5 dollar mouse with whatever the default settings were in game.

For me, I was at a 5.5 at around 30,000 kills before smoothing things out and slowly clawed my way up to a 7.0 over 6 or 7 months.

Some bug in winning conditions calculation.
