Select the Medic Class and click equip to switch into the Medic Class (Shown Below). Equipment Terminal Equipment/Loadout Screen ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 2-Choosing Your Allegiance Before even starting to play Planetside 2 and the Medic Class, you should be able to choose a side in this everlasting war. Planetside 2 has 3 factions/empires which has its own traits. These 3 factions/empires are The Vanu Sovereignty, The New Conglomerate and The Terran Republic. ~The Vanu Sovereignty The Vanu Sovereignty abbreviated as VS by the players of Planetside 2, are a technological based faction aimed at using technology from the alien artifacts mainly named as Vanu. They treat the Vanu as a religion and strive to find other Vanu Artifacts that are scattered around Auraxis. They live by the motto of We are Tomorrow and their colours are Purple and Cyan. The VS are mainly made up of scientists and fans of the man who found the first artifact, Briggs. The VS use beams of lasers and have low to no recoil on their weapons. Bullets (Or lasers to be accurate) are colored as Purple and have no bullet drop (Except for their bolt actions). Their vehicles are very maneuverable on both land and air. If you are somewhat an intellectual, likes technology, no bullet drop, techno music, the VS are your Faction ~The New Conglomerate The New Conglomerate are a separatist faction, abbreviated as the NC, which splited from the Terran Republic after some time after survivors landed in Auraxis. The New Conglomerate aims towards providing freedom for Auraxians. Their motto is Fight for the future and their colours are blue and gold. The NC are made up of mainly freedom fighters. Their bullets are coloured as Gold and are subjected to bullet drop. Their vehicles move slower but are more heavily armoured and their damage output is higher than other factions. If you like the idea of freedom, hard hitting weaponary and vehicles and Rock music, the NC are your faction ~The Terran Republic The Terran republic are the original government that ruled old Earth and its citizens but once war broke out, the Terran Republic will stop at nothing to bring peace even if it meant by using force. The Terran republic are abbreviated as the TR and their motto is Loyalty Until Death (Although you never die in Auraxis ) They can be identified by their colours which are red and black. Their bullets are coloured as Red and are also subjected to bullet drop as the NC. Their vehicles and Weaponary are fast firing but have the standard damage output of a bullet unlike the NC. Their weapons however have bigger magazine sizes allowing for what the Planetside Community calls; Bullet Hosing. If you like the idea of government control, fast firing weapons and vehicles, opera styled music, The TR is your faction. ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 3-Your role as a Combat Medic The combat Medic is a class which helps to keep frontline troops healthy, revive dead allies and also help to keep up the battle wherever it may be on Auraxis. A combat Medic is given tools for him to utilize and are all given to him by default for free: 1. Default main weapon for the Medic 2. Standard Faction specific pistol available to all classes of the faction 3. Medical Applicator 4. Empire Specific Knife (Same damage output. Just a redesign) 5. Nano-Regen Device 6. Standard Faction specific Frag Grenade (Same damage output. Just a redesign) You will need to use most of this tools provided to you by your faction to support your fight in Auraxis. I will now go through what each of these tools is used for in a combat scenario: 1. Default Main Weapon for the Medic: You are given an empire specific weapon as default for free to defend yourself against enemy infantry (NOT allies). You are able to wield this weapon by pressing the number 1 or scrolling through your mouse wheel to scroll through your inventory. You are expected to wield this weapon at ALL times as it will be the first tool to defend yourself. 2. Standard Faction Specific pistol You are given an Empire Specific Pistol as a default secondary defence weapon for free. This is mainly used as a backup for your Main weapon to get that kill after pouring a full magazine into an enemy and him not being able to die. You are able to wield this weapon by pressing the number 2 or scrolling your mouse wheel to scroll through your inventory. This weapon can be wielded by choice. 3. Medical Applicator (What I call the Green Wand ) The Medical Applicator is given to you for free by default. This tool allows you to heal and revive allies from a distance in a certain time. You can wield this by pressing 3 by default. 4. Empire Specific Knife The Empire Specific Knife is given to you by default for free. This is your 3rd defence weapon in your arsenal and can be used to silently finish of an enemy or when both primary and secondary weapons have been fully cycled through (I do not know how or why both weapons have been used up. Try improving your aim in the Virtual Reality Training ) You are able to use this knife by pressing the T key on your keyboard or your middle mouse button. 5. Nano-Regen Device Heals allies and yourself within a certain distance by pressing ‘F’ by default. 6. Standard Faction Specific Grenade This is given to you by default as any normal grenade does although this cost resources to equip. The grenades deal a decent damage to enemies and maybe even your allies (So watch how and where you’re throwing your grenade!). This can be thrown by pressing ‘G’ be default. So after going through the tools given to you, I will now explain how to use these tools in the Battlefields of Auraxis. You are to use the Medical Applicator to revive and heal others in a combat medic situation. The Nano-Regen device on the other hand, allows you to heal others within close proximity. Hold out your medical applicator and point it to the person of interest (Low on health or dead) and left click your mouse to start the healing or revive process. While doing this, a visual will show up which is exactly the same for both healing and reviving. Medics look out for a plus icon which represents that people need healing while the death icon represented by the death skull shows that someone needs a revive. Other than that, you are a standard foot soldier. ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 4-Investments available for the Medic The Combat Medic is given multiple ways to spend his/her certs on if they choose to become a better and efficient Medic. The Picture below is taken from the Planetside 2 wiki. I am now going to list down the best way to spend your certs into the Combat Medic Class to allow you to be as effective as possible. Refer to the picture above to gauge costs. [250Experience=1 Certification point (Planetside 2’s Virtual Currency)] : 1.Medical Applicator (Reviving and healing others faster will lower your risks of getting shot and also revive others to a higher amount of heal per rank increase) 2.Nano-Regen Device (Increase effective range of the Nano-Regen Device and speeding up healing process) 3.Advanced Shield Capacitor (Health can always be restored at another time but while you can’t use your Nano-Regen Device to heal yourself, the shield should be up before health as it may increase your chance of survivability in a last second 1v1 fights) 4.Nanite Revive Grenade (Allows you to throw revive grenades which will revive allies without you risking your life or K/D to revive allies anyways you don’t get much kills with a frag grenade unless you are MLG) 5.Grenade Bandolier (Carrying more revive grenades is a good idea) 6.Nanite Healing Grenades (Heals allies once thrown within proximity of the grenade) 7.Triage (Heals Allies in a vehicle while you are inside) 8.C-4 (Only option for you against MAX’s. Recommend getting 2 bricks) ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 5-Weapon Overview Personally, I believe that the standard weapons given are good all-rounders. Personally I feel that the default medic guns are the best weapons in game but if you are looking for a gun to use other than the default, here are a few guns I would recommend. 1. Carnage BR (NC) 2. TAR (TR) 3. HV45 (VS) The other weapons in my opinion are not that important to unlock but if you do have spare certifications, I recommend this weapons because I feel they are quite good in the battlefield: 1. NS Underboss (1000Certs) (Not recommended for TR as they have an amazing default pistol) 2. Any SMG of your choice. (I recommend the Blitz GD-10, SMG46-Armistice and the Sirius SX12) 3. SAB-R (Long Range Recommendation) 4. Shotguns available to your empire for Close Quarters Combat Situations like a Bio Lab ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 6-Attachment Overview There are many attachments available to the Medic and these are either optics or gun attachments. ~Optics: There are multiple optics available to the Medic and are ranging from x1 to specialized scopes. In my opinion, the x2 and HS/NV Sights are a must have for your gun unless you like the stock optics and do not want to waste 30certs for a scope. As a Medic, you will be mainly facing enemies of mainly medium to short range. With a x2 or x1 scope, you are able to see your enemy easier from a medium or close distance and the HS/NV scope will help you pick out enemies at night and look past smoke. A long range engagement is not advised as you are not supposed to be in the front lines. While in close combat you can either try hip-firing if the enemy is quite close to you or try using your scope if he isn’t close enough to hip-fire. ~Handling based attachments There are a variety of attachments available to you to configure your weapon to suit your needs which is mainly recoil. I advise getting an advanced Laser Sight and Soft point ammo. The compensator is also recommended. Getting a suppressor is a good idea if you are the only medic around as you are a primary target of the enemy, it will help you to not show up on the minimap if you fire your main weapon. ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 7-Tips and Tricks This tips and tricks that are stated below are made mainly from the Planetside 2 Community to help you be an effective Combat Medic: -Press F while moving around in a battle. You never know if someone still needs your assistance -If you can't find the person who is requesting the combat medic, run around and Press F. When you see the XP notification pop out, it means you are close to the person requesting assistance -Healing others is a great thing to do but if you dont see any other medics reviving the dead, be a good fellow Auraxian and help em' out with your trusty green wand! -If you're attending to a person in low health, use your Nano-Regen Device and your Medical applicator to speed things up a little. Look at the bright side, you’re healing yourself and others around you too! -Reviving should be a top priority in the heat of battle. But if you are under heavy enemy fire, use your revive grenade to good use of wield your weapon and take care of the enemy first before proceeding with a revive. -Don't run around with only your medical applicator out, Wield your weapon when moving. You'll never know if a friendly TR Soldier wants to blow up your face to say hi! -Jump around and crouch (Not many people do crouching )while reviving an ally. Expect a bullet to your head if you don't! -Check the HP of allies to see if they need your help even if they don’t request it. -Use F while fighting with an enemy. It will keep restoring your health even when you get shot and this will help you survive that 1v1's and keep you on the field longer -Try getting reviving the front line troops instead if you already see another medic running around rezzing those who are behind the front lines. (How about sharing some EXP with fellow allies? It ain't that bad) -Revive and heal those who are not even part of your squad or platoon. (At least you're helping those in your faction and not the enemies) -Priority revives are maxes, engineers and even your other combat medics. Reviving another combat medic will allow more medics to keep your allies healthy while reviving a MAX is a good idea, having no engineer around the Max would be asking the MAX to come back to hell as MAXes are priority targets and when you revive Maxes with barely 5 bars of health, try looking around for an engineer. If you do, go ahead and revive that Max -Revive others especially if you know your side have no more close by spawn options, giving allies some time to pull up a sunderer into close proximity of front line troops. ===================================================================
===================================================================Chapter 8-What YOU can do to help a Combat Medic Sometimes, you as a player will sometimes switch classes and play them for quite a while. I will show you some tips you can follow to help you and combat Medics be more effective in both your roles. -Do not run away while a Combat Medic is healing you. You are making his/her job worse -Stay behind cover and allow the Combat Medic to heal you -Don’t stray too far and get easily killed by enemies in a frontline battle as Combat Medics have a hard time to reach for you. -Try to not look at the Combat Medic and instead continue covering them while they heal you. -Not all Combat Medics can revive you. Try disabling your HUD (Ctrl+F10) and see if your body is being runned over by enemies or heavy fire, Medics will have a hard time to revive you. If your body is not there after Disabling your HUD, the medic isn’t able to revive you. (This Tip is taken from OrbitalStrikeGaming) ===================================================================

===================================================================Chapter 10-Credits I would like to thank the Planetside 2 Community for putting in their opinions and suggestions for this guide and Iridar 51 for the inspiration to creating this guide. I would also like to thank the following people for creating this helpful videos: WristyUK, Drathamus Gaming and Wrel. If you find and content here that you have not been fully credited for or if you found any errors in this guide, please do leave a reply to this thread below using the Template shown below. Other than that, THANK YOU for reading this guide and wish you a good day ahead and may the Nanites be with you! About Me: (If you are interested in who I am that is) My name is Firdaus (Call me Furrydaus as usual). Although I do not like telling some things in a forum, I believe that you guys won’t do anything foolish with it. I’m a 14 year old and I’m a proud Singaporean who has played many games from the old age games such as PacMan (Still love this game!) to what I currently play, Planetside 2. After being invited by a friend to join this game, I came in love with the game and Forumside . My In-Game Information can be found in my signature but I’m not quite good as I really love playing combat medic almost everytime I play Planetside 2 and risking my K/D. (In my opinion, K/D isn’t that important and that we do help the battles in one way or another) I have a Youtube Channel [http://www.youtube.com/firrygaming ] and a Twitter Account [@furrydaus]. Other than that, I support the NC but do play on other factions for a taste of how it feels to be another faction. =================================================================== How to give your response towards errors or copyright issues found in this guide. A little rough around the edges and somewhat basic, but it's a lot better than no guide at all. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your opinion! Seems you actually noticed my guide. Thanks for the inspiration with your light assault guide!
While the cert investment is pretty solid, I think the ordering for the lower items is a bit out (and a bit more complex than suggested here). I agree with the first two in the list: Medical Application Nano-Regen device After the first few levels in each of these (I wouldn't max them out sequentially but I would put more emphasis on the medical applicator first), you do need to decide what sort of armour you want to wear. Currently the options (imo) are: Advanced Shield Capacitor: Much quicker recharging time, but its pretty negligible at early levels. Nanoweave Armor: More base health, and currently better at resisting explosive damage than Flak Armor (but this is being fixed really soon - if it hasn't been already) Flak Armor: When nanoweave gets nerfed, this will be the armor to wear if you expect to be in battle with lots of vehicles present (reduces damage from explosions). Grenade Bandoleer: Carry extra grenades, which is particularly useful if you use Revive or Heal Grenades regularly. Its important to note that these all occupy the same slot. After a couple of levels in your armour of choice, I would highly recommend getting 2 blocks of C4 before anything else. The only other items that can fit in the utility slot for a medic are the medi and regen kits, which are not as useful for you as they are for other classes. 2 blocks of C4 will destroy any ground vehicle smaller than a Sunderer, and on a Sunderer they will put it on fire (so if you hang around and kill the enemy engineers it will burn to death reasonably quickly). After the C4 I would recommend grabbing whatever heal/revive grenade you are interested in. But note: heal, revive, and frag grenades all share the same slot, so you will only be able to have one on you at any one time. Also: Revive grenades cannot revive you. See Wrel's comparison video on youtube for a good comparison of the two. Finally, I would not recommend getting Triage until you have maxed out everything else you want and have certs to burn. It really is not a good investment. My personal cert out is: Nanite Armour (I do have Adv Shield but dont wear it currently), max medical applicator, max nano-regen, 2 bricks of C4, and 1 level of Triage because I was delerious with the flu at the time and can't get it refunded
Also: I don't like use the heal/revive grenades as I prefer having the ability to clear bunkered down enemies and find the heal grenades to make me less flexible. Other play styles will have better mileage with them.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will maybe put your suggestions in once editing rights have been given by the forum moderators (If there do that is ) The Triage thinkk made me chuckled abit.
The second best weapon after the HV45 (Close Combat / All arounder) is the Corvus (Medium range combat) (VS) which you dont even mention.
ermm I am not experienced with weapons but ill update my guide with the suggestion of yours in abt a month or so
Thanks for this guide. As a newcomer I may say that I find the guide quite informative about the important info needed in order to get into action and know what to do.
