    Greetings, Auraxians!
    This month we have more details around our next big update, the Archaeotech. In today's letter we'll cover those details along with an update on the NA server merge. But first, we want to address the concerns around the recent EG7 announcement.

    We’re aware that recent news has sparked speculation around PlanetSide 2, and we want to assure you that the development team at Toadman working on the game remains unchanged and will continue to work on the project with the same passion and dedication.

    In the next two weeks, we’ll release an update on PTS with some tunings for the fishing feature along with changes to the Assault Facility/Mode based on your feedback. As before, we’ll maintain our regular schedule with monthly updates for the live server, bringing you fresh content, fixes, and exciting changes.
    Your trust and support are our main motivation, and we’re committed to ensuring the game continues to bring you joy and positive experiences.

    NA Server Merge
    We understand that you’re eagerly awaiting the merging of NA servers. We’re aiming to complete this process in the next 2-3 months. However, based on our experience with merging European servers, we want to avoid issues like crashes, performance drops, and long queues.

    Our team is actively working to resolve these challenges to ensure a smooth experience. The servers will only be merged once we're confident that it won’t cause any further inconvenience to you.

    Assault Facility
    We would like to thank all players for their valuable feedback on the Assault Facility. Throughout the month, we have been actively addressing the identified issues, redesigning some structures, and taking into account your comments regarding capture points being taken too quickly. As a result, we’ve made balance adjustments to improve the gameplay experience. Over the next two weeks, we will showcase all the changes in the new version on the PTS server. Once again, thank you for testing and providing detailed feedback— this helps us make the game better for all players!

    Archaeotech
    We’re excited to talk more about Archaeotech—a new, alien technology coming to PlanetSide 2. This technology, recently uncovered from an ancient civilization, is rumored to be of a rival race to the Vanu (not to be mistaken for the Vanu Sovereignty). Archaeotech gear will have a unique and striking appearance themed around parasitic biotechnology. It brings new capabilities that set it apart from existing content, making its introduction an exciting moment in the PlanetSide 2's evolution.

    Starting in 2025, Archaeotech will gradually appear in the game, starting with the Stryder, a biomechanical, crustacean-inspired vehicle.

    This will be an ongoing process, so expect new updates and surprises throughout the year!

    Key Features of Archaeotech's Visual Style
    Alien, Corrupting, and Uneasy—these three words will guide the visual design of Archaeotech. It’s not just about new tech; it's about making those who engage with it feel the alien and dangerous allure of interacting with something ancient and otherworldly. Due to the parasitic nature of Archaeotech, you can expect to see cosmetics of already existing weapons and gear infected with the organism.

    Visual Direction
    Archaeotech will feature designs that communicate alien, corrupting, and uneasy qualities:


    Alien: Expect strange, otherworldly forms that defy traditional design. The tech will appear alive, with unpredictable structure, suggesting a civilization beyond human comprehension.

    Corrupting: Archaeotech will blend biological and mechanical elements, featuring fleshy, sinewy, or organic growths that give it a living, almost sentient feel. It’s powerful, but unnervingly so. This will affect each faction in a unique way (including NSO).

    Unease: It will evoke the sensation of touching something dangerous and alien, with dark tones and glowing accents to highlight its mysterious power.

    This new visual style will create a sense of foreboding, drawing attention into the mystery of the technology.


    Archaeotech Weapon Design

    The primary goal of Archaeotech weaponry is to introduce a new, visually striking weapon that aligns with the theme while integrating seamlessly into existing gameplay. This will introduce unique mechanics and features that offer new tactical and strategic opportunities. The weapon mechanics include a mixture of energy-based fire, utilizing heat management systems, as well as biologically enhanced kinetic rounds. Additionally, these weapons will come with their own unique attachments. Players will have to earn the use of these weapons as Archaeotech terminals will be linked to specific facilities across Auraxis, much like the Stryder and its link to the Assault Facility.

    Evolution of Archaeotech in 2025
    Archaeotech will not be an instant update, but rather a gradual evolution of the game over time. Over the course of the year, new elements of Archaeotech will be released, expanding on its visual and gameplay aspects. This will include new vehicles, weapons, and features, all tied to a larger mystery and evolving narrative.

    Expect Archaeotech to slowly be integrated into the world of PlanetSide 2, with each update revealing more about its alien origins and the dangers it brings.

    Archaeotech represents an exciting new direction for PlanetSide 2. It brings with it a feeling of mystery, corruption, and alien power—all elements that will make gameplay feel fresh and immersive. Over the course of 2025, we will continue to unveil new aspects of this mysterious technology, each adding new layers of intrigue and complexity to the game.

    Stay tuned for more updates as this strange, otherworldly force begins to make its presence known on Auraxis!

    Mithril, are the plans for balance updates on current weapons and vehicles ?

    Please NSO just need a good AR (just give maxwell 0.75x ADS)and the undeployed Nanite Armor needs tuning .

    Everything looks great, Its about time we have a break from the stock military uniforms and camos. You guys could corrupt a map like koltyr that isnt used often for events.

    The CrabTank is another amazing addition from the design alone. keep taking risks, im just coming back into the game and it looks like a great time to return.

    Have you guys considered returning any previously exisiting content, like the light assault deployable jump pad, or the Universally beloved Wasp for cortium collecting? ;) just a thought.

    Thank you for addressing the speculation on recent news as well. I talked to some friends about getting back into it with me from my old outfit, and it was a lot of doom and gloom. I dont want to feed them false hope, so consistent monthly updates posted on the loading banner is going to be crucial; even if its to say you couldnt get the update out when intended, its a whole lot easier on outfit leaders trying to convince people its worth playing the game again.

    Keep up the great work you guys are doing so far and keep this train going because there is no other game like this out there.

    I can't for the life of me understand why you are still devving on fishing in an MMOFPS???? Leave it on the test server for the weirdo's

    ALL THE REST LOOKS INTERESTING and MERGE is priority for most, followed by the new assault facility.

    It would have been better to post this letter a few weeks ago, when the first rumors started circulating, in order to quickly address the situation before articles appeared on gaming websites. That would have shown your commitment to the community. However, it's still worth discussing now.
    I’d like to address the issue of faction balance. Are there any ongoing projects aimed at making adjustments in this area? Current imbalances can negatively impact the player experience, especially when one faction becomes overwhelmingly dominant.
    I also wanted to mention the problem of faction overpopulation on certain servers. On servers with more than 200 players, it’s common for one faction to reach 40% of the population, which further unbalances the game. Are there any plans to implement a system that would limit this overpopulation by preventing factions with too many players from continuing to grow? This would help better distribute players and reduce frustration.
    It's crucial to find solutions to maintain balance between the factions, as this will not only preserve an enjoyable gaming experience but also help retain the community, including potential future consumers.

    Which balance problems are there? For (non Max) infantry, all 3 factions have S tier weapons that compete with each other. Only the NSO robots are the exception. They have don't have any S tier assault rifles and it really sucks. Which is why I really suggest that maxwell buff!

    NSO could have also helped with the overpopulation problem. But you can ally yourself and play on any faction any time. Maybe make it so you can only ally yourself for a certain amount of before you to "repurchase" the alliance for 1k certs. Maybe make it cost 5k-10k certs instead. That suggestion would also help with subscriptions since you'll need to keep it active since of the alliance wouldn't be permanent.

    We plan on releasing a new PTS build soon. Possibly looking at a release by end of this week. It will contain updates to the assault mode including suggestions from the community on improving the difficulty of capture points etc and more.

    i hope this new team is taking notes from the sucess of marvel rivals, that game is imblanaced but in a fun way, everything is powerful, everything is fun, there are broken things in the game like scarlet witch, but everyone else is strong in their own ways too.


    this very concept was taken out of planetside 2 and is the core reason why alot of people left (and they wont bother telling on the forums or subreddit)


    so many fun things over the years have been taken out of the game for the sake of "balance"

    the recent addition of the NSO powerknive which i have waited for years to finally come is the only thing that has stopped me from uninstalling the game as other newer games have taken my attention away, but i still log onto planetside for an hour or two to stab some people in the head. it is not as fun however, as when powerknives used to 1 hit people, bring that back, no one will scream to the top of their lungs about it, it was a bad move by wrel.


    rockets should send ESFS flaming but in return, a2g ESFs should damage infantry like they used too, it evens out, just like i said with marvel rivals, if everything is strong, everything is fun, if everything is weak, then it becomes boring and a job and the likelyness of playing drops down.


    i hope this team can bring the fun back as it appears they are doing so, so far.


    as for this new "alientech" i really hope its not a reskin for existing weapons, and instead, a new weapon, all on its own, i need it to bring me back to the days when i played call of duty world at war zombies, holding the Ray gun. i want it to feel like i truely am using a alien weapon, i want memory.

    I am requesting a balance in the number of players when the map is open. It is not normal that it is possible to have 40% of the population for a single faction, and that the alert continues without penalty for the 5th faction

    Can’t wait to see all the pretty neat melee weapons reflecting the lights from a Pocket OS. LOL

    My original character has already been moved from BRIGGS to --> SOLTECH, then --> CONNERY.
    In the meantime i ALREADY made a new character on Emerald - as i expect have MOST PEOPLE.

    After this merge - i will have 2 characters on Emerald, both VANU, both OLD characters. Pointless.
    WITH THE MERGE - CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE THE OPTION TO MOVE THE CHARACTER TO OTHER SERVERS?
    I would like my Connery Character to be able to move back to Soltech, so i may have at least one character i can experience "good ping" with again

    Yeah, I agree. That would be awesome if they could do that. Giving us the option to merge with Emerald or Miller .

    Mithril on Reddit said that they will post about balance changes in a future Developer letter

    Will start playing again once server merges start, connery is a ghost server atm even during peak hours.

    will there be an update that optimizes the interface for large 4K monitors? On my 55-inch monitor, the fonts are very small and so is the entire interface.
