It would be extremely awesome to have a second spotting option in multiple person vehicles. This spot works like the regular one, just that it marks the target differently for your gunner. Instead of only the name and spot shout, a symbol would appear over the marked target for both your and your gunner. When the target is not on the screen, a marker would appear on the left or right side of their screen, depending on which turning direction is shorter to get the target in sight. It would act a bit like waypoints. This would make fire conzentration possible without using voice chat, which would be usefull, as many e.g. MBT or Liberator gunners are randoms. Tank drivers could tag tanks for the second gunner. Liberator belly gunners could mark targets for the tailgunner. It would lso make it slightly easyer for the pilot to keep his gunenrs aim on the target.
Another thing that would make it easier on the gunners is if the pilots would stop trying to put their gunships through evasive maneuvers as if they're flying a fighter jet. I can't tell you how many times I have just gotten lined up on an inbound enemy that has open fired on us, and just as I pull the trigger to return fire and take him out, he's ripped away from my crosshairs and out of my firing arc (if I can regain line of sight on him at all) and we end up falling out of the sky in flames. We spend way too much time trying to reacquire the enemy aircraft hoping to get a few rounds to hit before we're ripped away again, instead of just being able to focus our fire and take him out. The mosquito is going to pull away and retreat before the galaxy will, so just let us take the skeeter out already! -- Smoov edit: totally agree on the same-vehicle spotting tho. would be great for air-to-ground attacks. even having someone on the ground silently painting the target for us would be nice too.
I wouldn't go along with that... we already spot enemies throughout the faction who are in the same region, that is enough... but for people who are sitting in the same vehicle, it is reasonable for one person to turn to the other person to say "hit this target", and paint his target from the other console in the vehicle. You have multiple players working as a single unit (2 in a tank, 3 in a sunderer, 5 in a galaxy, etc... they _should_ be sharing information like that...) (note, I don't count the passenger seats) I would also like to be able to do a 'say' that is only heard by the occupants inside the vehicle, too -- Smoov
This is a good idea and i support it. Cant tell how many times my tanks blown up since my gunner totally forgets to watch out for C4 fairies. Its becoming rare case where i dont kill light assault or 2 when they want to put vehicle im in for masonry workout.
I second that! Let squadleaders mark priority targets for focused fire. Or as Admiral Ackbar would say: Focus all fire on that super-annoying Vanguard!
We already have smoke to mark a target, and the waypoints are often used to mark a target that should be hit too. -- Smoov
My only problem with this is displaying a marker even if they are off screen. If an enemy manages to get in your blind spot after being spotted, there shouldn't be a "hey i'm over here" sign. You should have to use your awareness to figure out where he went.
Are you really so against vehicle play that you couldn't even live with a QoL improvement? What you're essentially saying is, that if you have a pubbie gunner, you shouldn't be able to coordinate effectively? Ingame Voice Chat is finicky at best, and many [Myself included] have it turned off. I for one think this is a great idea. +1 OP.
I don't see how improving communications between people operating a multi-occupant vehicle, is considered a buff. It would apply to all vehicles that people are inside of... so if I'm driving, my gunner is looking left, and I say "check right" when I see something to the right, I don't want that going over the squad/platoon/outfit/etc channels, and I don't want that to be a 'say' that gets heard by nearby people. That should be something only those inside that vehicle would hear. It doesn't "buff" anything... except, perhaps, our ability to communicate effectively... -- Smoov
