Tanks are the new ESF.

    And CoD types are the lemmings on 2 feet that cry and ask for all things to be nerfed cause they are just bad period.

    Its really not hard to get kills with the HEAT, HE, or Halberd. If you can't aim then that is your fault not the games.

    The problem is tank survivability is kinda in the dumpster thanks to the AV turret and the new ESL launchers resulting in massive rocket spammage everywhere you go. Can't remember the last time my tank actually died to another tank. Striker is no big deal, not sure how I feel about the lancer, but the AV turret and Phoenix can be down right brutal.

    I dunno about you, but skilled ESF pilots are raking in them kills right now, I'd not count them down and out, nor would I count tanks down and out.

    There are a LOT of counters given to them. I sure hope they give some counters for the tanks other than rock paper scissors IR/Mineguard/Top*front*side armors.

    And yes, I'd be absolutely fine with them making the tank not soloable at all. That'd solve half the problems this game has regarding tank spam.

    incorrect good sir. go wiki javelin missiles. The anti-tank missile you speak of is in use even in Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Georgia, India and BAHRAIN for crying out loud. Let alone Australia, France, UK, etc.

    You can watch multiple streams of ESF pilots that seem to do pretty well. Clearly there's a high learning curve, but you don't see people out there with tanks doing near as much damage. Tanks are not paper (or sheet-metal) cannons like the aircraft either though.

    The solution to vehicle spam would seem to be for the starter versions to be very weak, as in nearly useless, then become significantly better when fully certed. Horrible driving should be more penalized though, the bumper-car system of zerging is just ridiculous.

    So, I love driving my Magrider, and I do pretty decent at it when I don't act like an idiot. Armor is pretty fine right now. I use the default main gun and have no problem killing infantry. Sure, you have to get almost a direct hit but if you have good aim, that's really not hard to do. Learn the drop/travel time of your rounds and it's incredible what you can do. I routinely shoot Flash's and LA's out of mid-air. I'm pretty happy with the current balance of armor v. infantry. Sure, Pheonix spam is pretty annoying at times but if you remain aware of your surroundings and stay by cover it's not too hard to avoid. The majority of times I've been blown up are simply my own fault for getting greedy and over-committing to a kill.

    HE rounds are still pretty devastating but the slow reload and the fact that you're useless against armor causes me to rarely pull that out.

    AP rounds are can certainly tear through armor but then you're defenseless to infantry. The default HEAT rounds strike a nice balance and I find that 1v1 I can typically take out any vehicle and can take on 3 or 4 heavies at a time without too much trouble if I don't act like an idiot.

    Tl;Dr if you play to the strengths of the tanks they're still quite potent, most people though just go blindly rushing into open ground and get blown up... they'll either learn or rage-quit. But, for the love of god SOE, don't do anything else to balance issues between air, ground, and armor for a while. Most people who play the game often(and aren't horribly biased) would probably that there's a pretty good balance right now IF you choose your battles.

    3. You can only change class at a terminal. It takes 5-10sec?
    That means no swapping class at a Sundy (maybe have a timer for swapping class). :cool:

    4. Allow vehicles to reload their equipment. Allow this at main bases or maybe ammo stations. :D


    See what I did? No class nerfing. Stops spamming and makes people actually look for a fight.
    Also stops players swapping classes instantly to deal with threats (eg, changing to air max).

    Players will need to think before picking a class.

    Who the USA has had dealing's with, anyways this is completely off topic, an it isnt a 4cvhan rant session, so I am gonna drop this rubbish from here.

    As for Tanks, most tanks can be killed instantly, an in some places within seconds of spawning when you have groups of campers sitting on a hill that can blitz anything within range.

    1. I don't like this idea, rockets are vital in area's like biolabs to take to down max's. They're vital when infantry have to hold off an armor zerg without armor of their own and you can't just run back to a terminal every few shots.

    2. I like this idea... it'd be odd to implement unless they made the regular guns have ammor as well though. But, I like this idea. Or give them more limited range as opposed to essentially. If you can see it, you can shoot it.

    3. Really bad idea, in my opinion, Sundy's are designed to be essentially a mobile battle station. If you couldn't switch classes at one you would be unable to adapt, solo players would get even more screwed, and air would run rampant since it would take much longer to get AA up and running.

    4. Yes, Yes, A million times yes! This absolutely needs to be done.

    Tanks die just as fast if not faster and is easier to hit with a wider variety of weapons. They cant run away as fast as esf's and they cant attack from above so its easier to hide behind cover to avoid getting killed by a tank. MBT's are more of a joke atm and only really useful in a large zerg.

    Not that esf's are much better off.

    I think tanks are fine. They are tough to use really well so there is a skill ceiling. Im enjoying the vehicle play as is.

    Well this is mainly because RPGs aren't really meant for heavy armor. It's a Rocket Powered Grenade, which means it is more meant for soft targets. Now the AT4 is an actual anti-tank weapon.

    True, but AT4s are not handed out to every man an his dog either. Where as in PS2 every single person has access to them. Reality has no place or relation to the game world thankfully, or els every bullet is an instantly kill, every plane would obliterate anything moving. A single Magrider/Vanguard would wipe half of the crown off the map an turn it to rubble...

    I never had a problem with the damage or blast radius of tank shells before they nerfed them, personally. I almost feel like the only reason they were even nerfed in the first place was because their modelers couldn't figure out how to close up all the holes in the new spawn rooms or something, because that was the only place tank shelling was a problem.

    Wow, you sure are mad, bro. Seriously, you need to de-stress a bit. As to what Tanks are good for: giving me mad certs when I blow their sorry ***** up with my plain old dumb-fire missiles. Tanker tears are the sweetest tears there is, mate. ;)

    HA are trained anti-tank soldiers. IE: they would be given the PS2 equivalent of the AT-4. And a few men with Anti-tank weapons would turn that tank zerg into scrap. When will people realize that you can't have one side insanely OP vs the other. One tank is still WAYYYYYYY more powerful than one infantry. You have to accept the fact that when you get ganked by infantry in your tank you got ganked by 3 to 5 infantry at least.

    Yeah.... An infantry player playing a tank still feels powerful.

    Especially, if you know.... You have a turret gunner with a marauder.

    I went on a 40 kill streak this morning in my Vanguard with HEAT shells which included 4-5 armor kills and 30+ infantry.
    Take the extra time, get your shell on target. Get a friend to go in the gunners seat and equip the Halberd or Enforcer.

    The ONLY thing wrong with tank balance right now is the fact that an ESF or Lib with Tank Buster can kill a heavy tank in 1 second. That is a major imbalance and major problem with the game.

    Apart from that, tanks still hit hard but have vulnerabilities.

    Same here, I have maxxed Vanguard shield and an ESF can still kill me in literally 1 second.

    The hover spammer just turns up and gets his free XP. I can't do a single thing about it. As a tank driver it is the most rage inducing aspect of this game. A serious problem and if it doesn't change, the main reason I will quit this game and stop giving SOE money.
