Tank shells now stop rendering at a MUCH shorter distance than before, making long-range engagements nigh impossible. Surely this wasn't intended, right? I'm going to assume it's an accidental side effect of the silly tracer changes.
this problem had been plagued for years yet DB doesn't care to resolve, it used to be only affectting magriders (since maggie round uses tracer), now they introduced tracer to every tank , so it ******....
Yeah, judging shot accuracy at distance has become ten times harder with the change. The other day I shot at least 10 AP rounds at a stationary ESF at medium range - a shot which would have been easy before the change - and i just could NOT tell if the f***ing shell was going above or below the ESF, no matter how hard I squinted each time. Eventually the pilot must have gotten tired of all the tank shells whizzing harmlessly past him, and flew away unharmed. Do not like.
I found that lock down prowlers can shoot turrets and vehicles with no visible explosion or impact noise on the receiving end. Just damage chunking down. Vanguards can likely do it too but as a NC main I have no way of confirming.
I found that the following graphics settings allow you to see them at longer distances more clearly: Ultra Particles, High "Graphics Quality" (Not to be confused with the overall graphics setting.) Sadly those are now the only way to see the projectiles past a certain short distance.
In PS2, armor weapons are not intended to be long range. That would be a combined-arms attribute and PS2 has no room for combined arms action.
You need to set particle effects to ULTRA. This will render your shots all the way to the horizon. Anything less and they are lucky to make a hex before fading out.
but the particle setting will fubar your graphic experience, making too much smoke/effects that distance can't be viewed very clearly.
