Just felt the need to pop in here to say, the wrong numbers are being used for the Skyguard damage calculations here; the direct hit damage is for infantry, vehicles, and MAXes only; the splash damage is what counts against aircraft.

So.. last night on Indar.. I pulled a Lib, TB with thermal, amma clip size lvl 3 allmost maxed out.
Dived into hostile nc base. 98+ fight. at least 2 sundeys where in there, vanguards, lightning tanks.

Had my target on the vanguard, came from behind (love it from behind) took my time, got really close
And, ratatatatatatata, "booom" 2 guys dead from tb, escaped the battle with 30% health left, but no worries, nannite would deal with it.

I usally drive tanks, never solo a lib, in fact I only upgraded it coz a friend said i should ages ago.

    Point proven i say!

Remove that OP weapon from the game, and let spur have something to say

I have 1000 more kills with it because flying libs is mostly what I do now. Look at the killfeed of any top infantry player and you will see dozens of orion kills in a row with no deaths. Look at the killfeed of a top tanker and you will see the same thing. Why is it wrong when I do it with a lib?

And as it just so happens those kills were because our warpgate was getting camped on amerish and I was strafing vehicles that weren't paying attention to their rear because they were trying to counter a friendly tank push. Each time I dove on the tanks I risked getting killed by the heavy flak and almost died on nearly every pass; if I didn't have maxxed out afterburner and good piloting skills I would have been dead after 1 strafing run. The tankbuster has a high skill ceiling and is powerful in the hands of someone with experience, but most people don't have experience with it. The vehicle I kill the most actually isn't armor at all, but rather other libs, and I can tell you that most pilots have no idea what they are doing. Most of the dalton kills there were against ESF's. A few were from finishing off tanks, but you know what I did to get them? I literally landed on top of the tanks and daltoned them while I was sitting on them. It isn't my fault if no one has the sense to shoot me while doing that.

And yeah, I remember when rocketpods were crazy powerful; I have been playing since the tech test and they have gone through a ton of iterations. They do have a much much longer range than the tankbuster though.

And according to your killfeed those 2 kills were the ONLY two kills you got before getting tankbusted by an enemy lib. This is my point; people who have no idea what they are doing might get lucky and kill a tank, but to be legitimately good and effective with a liberator (especially solo) you need a lot more experience than that. It isn't something people can just pick up and do.

The people in the vanguard you tankbusted were BR25 and BR31, both with KDRs well below 1 and one with an SPM of 97. One had 23 kills in a vanguard TOTAL, and the other 18. That is hardly a hard target to kill; they probably had literally no idea what was going on. Try doing that against an experienced tanker and you won't have as much luck. Killing a low BR vanguard that was probably standing still and probably damaged and then dying hardly makes the TB OP.
  4. Ronin Oni

#1 reason to not remove TB is because it's the best/only counter to flight ceiling squad spawns in small fights.

No way this thread will go into the forgotten, let's make it sticky so maybe it will be noticed :)
  6. Canno

This is where you went wrong, no point in trying to convince or show you otherwise just based on that statement.
  7. Takara

More than a dozen 100+ certs in a single life runs in a Walker Harrasser has proven to me it can be useful and effective. The fact most people don't do it means it may be harder than some people are willing to work for. At one point in the US the idea of reaching the moon was considered impossible...the dangers too great...too much work would need to be done. But it did get done....despite all the naysaying.

Well getting good with the walker may not be landing on the moon, but neither is it as hard. All this thread has proven to me is that there is a great many people in this game who simply dislike a weapon because A) they aren't instantly awesome at it. B) it doesn't instantly seem worth while. C) they are too lazy to try try something new.

It's a teamwork weapon. Getting nose down so your gunner can shoot infantry, finding the right turns to keep the vehicle stable so your gunner can continue to hit aircraft on the chase, learning how to counter ESF attack pasterns when they come in after you. It can be complicated...many people simply don't enjoy having to work that hard. For me....the fun is in the challenge of taking something many people thing isn't good...and making it useful. *shrugs* to each our own I suppose.

I've invested lots of time into my Scythe....but I'm not very good with it. I don't think it's trash because of it. I just think I'm not good at it. However you are just not good with the walker...there for you think it sucks. *shrugs* It could just be...you aren't good with it. or haven't found the right pilot. This is reality.
  8. Foxirus

Actually, When a lib kills my vehicle it was not because I was "Sitting around and making it easy"... It was because that liberator didn't play a single sound effect on its approach, And when the sounds WERE played? It was completely silent until all I heard was the tankbuster firing at me.

If I had to tell you what happened by hearing alone? A Liberator teleported itself directly behind me with no sound whatsoever and killed me.

You have at least one eyeball right? Press T and look around. I think many of you are having issues because you play with a two-dimensional mindset. There IS a third dimension that you have to account for. They can make the Lib louder, but is that going to help you when it comes from 1,000 meters up? No, only -sight- will help with that.

Yesterday I was running my squad to a base in a Sundy. We were ambushed by a Lib with a Tank Buster. It got us to a third of our health. But seeing it coming I had already taken measures to counter, I was able to take cover (not staying out in the open near hostile air, keeping escape routes open). It tried to mainuever to get in a good firing position but was chased off by my ticked off squadmates. All I had to do was get out and repair.

If you get caught with your pants down, well you're just going to get screwed, that's just how it is. We all get checkmated once in a while. But you don't have to play the victim. I don't, and because of that I adapt and overcome. And to me, the Tankbuster is a pretty meh weapon. Its useful for killing clueless and unobservant players.. nothing more.

As others have said, the other two nose cannons need to be brought up to par.
  10. Mjolnir

I'm sorry you can't hear things, but as a liberator pilot I have to be more aware of enemy libs than anyone, because the main threat of a liberator is another liberator. You can hear liberators a MASSIVE distance away, even over the sound of your own lib if you know what to listen for and are using headphones.
  11. player16

it does not even gets close to 7000 certs
  12. player16

guy at sony will you not i will get your family out of Hannibal lecter lair, germany my country tell me which government you represent in to the Japanese, as a lol fall back fall back! amada i understand you loved her no one will live so far, ****....je i do not know besides naked .... what kind of treasure you can preteen
  13. Foxirus

Did either of you even read what I typed? Its not the fact of me not being able to hear it, Its the fact the liberator plays NO SOUNDS AT ALL on some approaches. Sorry that I can't stop to look around while I am currently defending against two mossies trying to lolpod my tank. I am not saying the lib needs to be made louder. Under normal circumstances when the sounds are not GLITCHING, It can be heard from over 700m away with no issue what so ever.

Both of you need to learn to read, Unless you are blatantly trying to defend the liberator being able to abuse a bug in which it has no sound at all and is completely silent. Its nearly as bad as when you hack an enemy out of a turret, You don't see their body but are already dead from being shot at by them. When your body hits the ground they suddenly appear. Or are you going to say thats okay too?
  14. Taemien

So.. you're going offtopic? There is a bug section in these forums. Take sound effect issues there. So far that has nothing to do with the weapon itself. Unless you want to tell me why a weapon should cost more certs or be nerfed because the platform it is on is bugged. Because quite frankly, you're making no sense. Which is why I didn't respond to that part.

People playing music, listening on TS, or are unlucky enough to be hard of hearing or deaf can deal with Libs by just looking around. Start doing that till your issue is fixed. Again.. learn to adapt.
  15. Foxirus

Its only off topic if we stop talking about liberators. From what you are saying, I feel I can safely say you have never been in the seat of a skyguard for longer than 5 minutes. You would not be saying something such as "look around more" when at times looking around is impossible because you are having to focus on enemies, Or even another liberator in front of you. Remember, Flak is merely a deterrence, So if you take your view off of the target you are shooting at you lose valuable DPS. This is especially true on a liberator using a tankbuster. Majority of the time, If you don't do enough damage to the liberator, They are going to tank all your flak and fly in WHILE you are shooting them to kill you. If you are looking around when you have enemies in air units that are trying to kill you, That is the most ignorant thing you could do in that situation. Hearing is the only other alternative.

The reason you did not reply would be because you have no argument that is actually worth its weight. You are trying to defend the tankbuster and liberator being able to abuse sounds not playing.

Since you seem too simple to see how this is not off topic, I'll break it down for you:

OP wants the Tankbuster to be more than 100 certs. The tankbuster is not the problem because it requires you getting within 30m of the target to be effective. If they fixed the bug where you can actually hear the liberator, You could actually defend against it when you are focusing on other enemies around you when you hear it coming because you could prioritize the threat situation. That would make the cost of it not a problem.

But hey, Ignorance truly is bliss. Maybe the devs will end up nerfing the tankbuster or liberator when neither of those are the real problem.
  16. Reclaimer77

    Nerf tankbuster
    Nerf Sunderers
    Nerf MANA turrets
    Nerf AV range
    Nerf C4

    Did I leave anything out??

Let's just play World of PlanetTanksSide 2!
  17. Dreadnaut

    Then after you buy it...

2,441 certs for Tank Buster Max Magazine Size
200 certs for Tank Buster Thermal Sight

700 certs for High G Airframe
    1,000 certs for Nanite Repair
    2,925 certs for Max Afterburner

2,441 certs for Dalton Ammo Capacity
2,250 certs for Dalton Reload Speed
    701 certs for Dalton Zoom

2,441 certs for Drake Ammo Capacity
    701 certs for Drake Optics
    1,700 certs for Magazine Size

Another 15k+ certs and you might not die in it in 60 seconds after leaving the Warp Gate...and that's if you bought everything you needed and didn't spend certs on extra things like "Night Vision" when it actually worked, as well as certing out other weapons like the Walker, Zepher, etc.

2,441 certs for Zepher Ammo Capacity
    200 certs for Zepher Thermal
2,250 certs for Zepher Reload Speed

Another 4891 certs if you want to kill infantry with the Liberator...

I have 50,851 certs into my VS Lib, and that's only 70% of everything you could buy.

Oh, lets not forget that once you spend 15k+ certs on your Lib (closer to 20k with 2 belly guns), you have to learn how to fly it and be effective in it.

  18. Dreadnaut

Can't tell if you're serious or trolling...

You proved nothing with your silly post. It's amazing how successful you can be in a Liberator when no one tries to kill you.

One ESF could have eaten up that 30% in seconds. Any Walker Sunderer, MBT Primary, AV Turret, AA Turret, Lock-On Missile, or anyone paying attention could have shredded you had they given it any effort.
  19. Mythologicus

OP, go play Infiltrator on a brand new NC alt. With 0 cert investment, one-shot headshot all the fools who spent hours upon hours of their life earning upgrades and weapons.

    Where was your argument again?

And oh yeah, sure it's cheap (0 certs!), but it sure as hell isn't as easy as it appears.
  20. Mjolnir

I haven't noticed that bug. I am sorry that it happens to you, but it is hardly an intended game feature and I always hear libs unless I am flat out not paying attention.

I did a viable lib on my VS alt with around 4000 certs, but the low level afterburner, non max TB mag size, and slow dalton reload speed are definitely a noticeable downgrade. There are times when I tankbust something and only catch it on fire because I didn't have those two extra rounds.

I would consider something to be "overpowered" if someone who is unskilled with it can use it easily and kill more skilled players using other weapons/vehicles. Does this sound like something that describes the tankbuster? No, this is pretty much exactly what lockons are. The tankbuster, on the other hand, requires you to be a good pilot of the liberator, which apparently is fairly hard to do given by how bad people are at it. When I am flying around solo in my lib my primary target is other libs, so I have an intimate knowledge of how clueless the average lib pilot is (and dreadnaut can attest to this as well). Most "pilots" have no idea that I am even on them, and if they do see me they continue to fly straight and don't do any evasive maneuvers. Most of the "good pilots" in the game fly ESFs for whatever reason, not libs. Most of the people I see in libs are fairly low BR and pull it just to have their friend shoot at some things out of the belly gun for a few minutes until they die.
