Tactics in Planetside 2 are Dead: Long Live Tactics in Planetside 2

I don't see zerging as being synomonous with cert farming. I do use the term 'cert farming zerglings' but as a disparaging term. Some players simply have no guidance, and we do have to separate them from the ones who -DO- know better but choose to simply farm certs.

And as far as the lockon debate goes. Those ESF pilots were not trying to be team players, they're duelists. They aren't much different from, if not the definition of the type of player I am referring to before. And yes what they did was actually somewhat effective. We saw the changes happen to lockons nearly across the board.

All I'm suggesting is to use the tactic that has been used by the opposition for 2 years now. Basically turn it right back around on them. I applaud you for wishing to stay positive, and even more so for being confident in your methods. I want you to keep at it. But I do suggest to use the naming and shaming within the game as part of the arsenal.

i think they went in thinking "we are SOE! we CAN please ALL of the people ALL of the time!"........ thats so unrealistic its laughable. or there is another reason, but it's downright ugly for either the competitive fps'ers or the PS1 'hopers'. one was being 'used' to fund the others preferred 'gamestyle'.
neither fills me with hope about the future development.

tbh i've given up on it, had to kull the HD to migrate to a SSD anyway, and PS2 got the chop, i just don't see how they can create the game i want with 'this' as a basis. just adding guns increases the balance check EVERY time they add more, and they shuffle devs about, 1 more working on the constantly increasing balance work is 1 less working on content/art or whatever. between 2 platforms as well.

    ..redeploy now.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but...

Red Orchestra 2 has a great system for squad and platoon leaders (team leaders in this case). And that is... the amount of XP you earn from being a good lead is HUGE. The ribbons leads get right now is nothing compared to the rewards you get in RO2. In many servers, theres often a "race" for the squad leader spots (Squad lead 1 especially). And doing your job properly here not only goes a long way to getting your team the victory, but earns you a ton of XP that unlockd weapons, attachments, etc.

The problem in PS2 here is that there really isnt a huge incentive to be an SL beyond doing it for your outfit or friends. Many outfits ive been in have always had problems finding enough willing and enthusiastic leads. This has never been a problem in RO2, because there is a tangible reward for doing it.

Typical night for a platoon lead on PS2 these days...

PL: Hmmm... don't see too many fights. Alright, everyone redeploy to [insert 96+ zerged out base here].

PL: Looks like the fight is dying down, let me check the map. Okay, everyone redeploy to [insert 96+ zerged out base here].

PL: Geesh, the fights are terrible tonight. Let's take a couple sundies to the next base. I know it's pretty empty but maybe we can draw the enemy out and pick a fight here.

    5 minutes spent ghost capping.

PL: This is ridiculous. I'm done for the night. Who wants platoon lead?

After starting to use a laptop connected to my tv (and the virtual screen keyboard to type with a bad mouse), i find it hilarious to go back and read my old comments.
Even my grammar gets worse, and it sometimes looks like im not right in the head or something.
