What are your opinions on the Chaingun? Do you think the changes were valid? Do you like the changes? Any feedback below is welcome and encouraged! Thanks guys!
Yes they fixed exactly what needed to be fixed. The growing bloom and accuracy when sustaining fire was what made this gun counter-intuitive. A weapon with a wind-up time that starts up firing slow should reward you for holding the trigger down, and thats what it does now. With the BRRT, just start firing, pop shield, and hold it down till everything dies.
I really miss the long/medium ranges but from what is now its totally worth it,i havent use it again when i auraxium it and now i m all over it and use it on all my loadouts . Now we have a unique gun like Jackhammer and Lasher Edit:While BRRT is making it deadly i prefer extended magazines for longer dakka!
Never used it before the change but I rather enjoy it now. Haven't used the BRRT but the extended mags just means you can fire for what seems like days. However, friendlies seem to love running into your line of fire while you are spraying down a chokepoint.
The BRRT improves it, I don't think running extended mags is all that viable with the loss to the pinpoint ADS. That said, BRRT MCG is a lot more fun than the old model where if you were any kind of decent shot you'd have killed your target before the spool up was even complete, bad in close quarters and not really fun even when it does work. Still think they need to tighten up the CoF, perhaps give it a slight negative bloom per shot so it tightens while firing. Current fixed CoF is the same as the old max CoF. Needs 2.0 headshot multiplier, currently has the shotgun value of 1.5, which is part of why I compare it to the jackhammer. To put it another way, It's effective range is maybe 10 or 20 meters greater than the jackhammer but with much less damage output (particularly immediate damage) and considerably shorter than any LMG but with not that much damage extra damage. Definitely improved though. Suppressing fire I don't find to be very useful in this game. If you can't kill someone in easily under a second from your current range, firing is probably just going to draw the attention of someone who can. Wait a second... Jackhammer spread = 2.5 MCG CoF = 3 There's something wrong with this picture.
I never used the MCG as a serious weapon choice, only for mucking about and having fun when I didn't care about dying, since there are other weapons that do the same job better. After the update, I am not sure that has entirely changed. Still, I expect that better players than me will be able to make it work and be fun to use, so this is a step in the right direction imo. And as other have said, its a shame to lose the first bullet snipe. But that's an ability it should never of had in the first place.
Was thinking about those two numbers as well, and how strange it seemed for sure. Will have to do some testing.
1) Oh god do you really have to read all the stats... 2) TTK numbers are so meaningless for this weapon past 10m that I wouldn't even mention them 3) Measuring recoil pattern by bullet holes is a mistake due to random bullet distribution with the CoF
1) Stats are very important in piecing the weapon's style together to ensure players are getting the right weapon 2) I keep them in to present a benchmark for what is capable 3) I would disagree, as the Chaingun is based on sustained fire players are required to compensate for recoil, in which discussing it helps identify how to compensate and keep the gun on target.
Still missing a signature thing about a chaingun/minigun. Ammo pool and magasines are still to small XD There are other LMG's that also have 200 rounds options and frankly does the suppresion work better than the T7 any day when equipping that extended magasine. The T9 Carv-S being a prime example of that. Which not only allows for a close up suppresion but also a good medium distance suppresion that really hurts instead of just scares.
1) Obviously stats are important, but you don't have to read them for two minutes, just leave a screen and give 5 seconds to pause the video 2) Past certain range hitting the target becomes very unreliable due to large CoF, and actuall TTK is absolutely unpredictable. 3) I'm not saying discussing recoil is useless, just the part where you judge it by bullet holes.
Well i think that it is improved now. I was always running with laser sights, but now i went for the extended mag and i love it. The fixed COF is amazing! I don't get the point of the BRRT though. You sacrifice too many advantages for a slight increase in DPS. It just doesn't help!
Cursory messing around in VR tells me that the jackhammer hits with more pellets but has harsher damage falloff. Going to do some more testing. Need to find what the max 3 shot kill range is on the jackhammer. Considering that each shot does 420 damage minimum it's going to be spread limited. I also posted this in another thread but it's relevant here as well: Even with the BRRT the chaingun still isn't really a CQC weapon, and it's not that much farther till it's not just beaten but outclassed by pretty much any LMG, so your effective range is (charitably) something like 15 meters to 30 meters. That's a pretty common encounter but even at that range it's still not that much better than the CARV and if you can get headshots, is in fact worse. Max damage DPS into the head of the chaingun (sans BRRT but also sans spinup) is 2,859 due to its low headshot multiplier, carv can pull 3,574 and is much more like to to actually be able to do this because of the CoF disparity. Also worth mentioning that if a chaingun user's shield isn't charged they're almost certain to lose to a Serpent or GD-7F in a theoretical even fight.
The new MCG is a POS. The old MCG is way better, who ever thinks faster wind up time is worth sacrificing the ADS accuracy, never used the classic old MCG. We sacraficed this for Is such a horrible gun now unless you are literally 5 feet away. The thing is in 5 feet away is not even the best gun...Shotguns will still own the MCG. I honestly have no idea why people said the old MCG sucked...I really feel most peopled just couldn't aim the little dot and/or belived the forumside hype that it sucked. Now we get this inaccurate POS that gets owned by shotguns in the range it's only good at.
The MCG is really just a shotgun that delivers its pellets one at a time over a longer period of time. It's still not a minigun..
I love it. I love the hipfire bloom. I love ADS accuracy. I love BRRT and how it negates spin up. When I cleared out 4 pesky vanus out of control point on my own with it, I went like this...
I got about 16k kills with the old MCG now it is crap. And im searching for a new weapon. You should have leave it like it was.
I did not know they made a change. It is useless for anything but close range combat. Probably does less damage than a shotgun but has more ammo and higher rate of fire which makes it easier to use. The accuracy is so bad and the hitting power is so weak (think full auto bb gun) that It usually takes me a almost a full magazine to get a kill. If the other player is not asleep/almost dead/drunk then they will kill me first. It was always a P.O.S. and is still a P.O.S.
It's okay. I feel like it's better than the old MCG, but it's still not all that great. Upon extended use, I've found that whether I'm using the BRRT attachment or Extended Mags, I always seem to be in a situation where I want the other. The BRRT is the only thing that makes it viable in closer engagements, with the wind-up time still being an issue. However, since you give up the Extended Mags, you run out of bullets very quickly and end up reloading after every 2-3 kills just like a normal LMG. Using the Extended Mag means you can hose people down with bullets with little worry about running short of ammo, but you sacrifice the quicker wind-up time of the BRRT. This means that often enough your opponent will have the advantage by getting their shots off first before you have time to get the MCG up to speed. So all in all, I give it a resounding 'eh'. I still don't understand why they needed to make the BRRT an attachment instead of just an innate part of the gun. Or at the very least putting it on an attachment point other than the magazine so we could have both it and Extended Mags.
