T2 Striker is the most broken thing in the game atm.

I know I'm not the only one who knows this.
It is not just a matter of being OP, it is downright broken and harmful to the whole game.

Lets take a look at some of what the T2 Striker is capable of:

    • Infinite lock on distance.
    • Will lock on to a target as long as that target is anywhere within the users screen.
    • Each rocket deals more damage than any other normal single shot rocket.
    • Can destroy any vehicle in one or two clips.
    • Is immune to the effects of flares/smoke. Impossible to break/prevent lock-ons for.
    • It's rockets will often go through solid geometry to hit the target.
    • Requires NO skill to use.
    • The audio queue while firing sounds suspiciously like Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up'.
So basically, it is a 'Press Fire for guaranteed XP' device.
Now take into consideration that every Terran above BR 30 is now exploiting the flaws of this portable WMD, ask yourself 'Is there any point at all spawning any kind of vehicle when fighting the TR?'
Seriously, I just have to avoid the TR fronts all together if I feel like using a vehicle. It is either that or I can't use them at all.
Makes me so glad that when my allies realise that using vehicles is futile, they charge as infantry and I pull my ZOE MAX and get to slaughter all the silly little TR and get to cram their now worthless Strikers up their *****.
Don't bother with the 'But ZOE is OP!!!' ******** either, ZOE needs skill to use, which is what makes it so good against TR who are too used to easy-mode (or troll-mode as it is becoming commonly known as) and don't know for to fight in a situation when the opponent actually has a chance of winning.
The T2 Striker is undoubtedly the most broken thing in this game at the moment, and to my knowledge in the entire history of gaming ever.
Please share your own experiences with the Striker below, or if you are a Striker user, I guess you could leave me some hate comments.

He's right though. I was once used the Striker to lock on to one of the moons in the sky. It took 1 clip to destroy it and all the debris from it made the server crash for a day.

My answers are typed with red , total experience for the past 2 weeks of abusing this weapon.

    1/10 needs more research.

My striker did that while the moon was not in the sky, it locked through the whole planet. Of course, all my rockets went through as well.

A Striker once tried to pick up my girlfriend at a Billy Squier concert.

    True story.

Thank you for you valuable input. Obviously the devs haven't acknowledged the issue, and are not reworking the lock on mechanic, and need you to make them aware of it yet again.
    Oh wait . . .

As much as I think the striker needs to be balanced, I'm going to have to disagree with some your arguments.

    - The striker's lockon range is 500m, the same as the annihilator. And yes, once the lock on is made, and the missiles launch, they can follow beyond that range until impact or flares.

    - No, see above point.

    - No. All five add up to deal a bit more than the annihilator, but not 5x the damage. That would be f***ing ridiculous.

    - I agree with you here in the fact that the striker is out of balace, damage wise. I'm not sure about ANY vehicle, but EFS's will go down with 2 salvos. I'm pretty sure MBT's would take 3. (this is compared to the annihilator's 3(?) shots for an ESF.

    - I have never experienced this. My flares work as promised. I've only heard from other people that it sometimes lets 1 or 2 of the rockets through.

    - They don't go "though". They go "around". Seriously, the guidance AI is way smarter than it should be. And that is the same AI guidance as the other lockons IIRC. Don't believe me? Try it yourself or find a video demonstrating it (I know I've seen one somewhere).

    - It doesn't require any more skill than the other lockons.

    - LMAO, now I don't know if all this typing was a waste of time or not.

Anyways, it needs balancing, but it isn't really "broken".

Oh good another Striker thread it I guess we have to reset the counter again.

    • Hyperbole much, altho i agree the range need to be reduced.
    • Not sure what you mean, if the target hide before the lock on then it will be safe, however, indeed, if the target is locked, hiding wont even help. That will be fixed with the lock on modification update.
    • At that point i just wanted to ignore the rest of your post cause it was clear that you would pull out anything out of your pocket.
    • Same garbage.
    • Same garbage, people i play against have no trouble flaring my lock on, however sometime one or two rocket sleep through but it is extremely rare, it seems to occure when the target is very close to me, never happened otherwise.
    • No they dont, however they have a very generous path finding that make close to unavoidable to dodge if you're within a certain range.
    • Yes cause thats definitively specific to the Striker, please...
    • n/c
SOE is already aware of the lock on issue, and they will will be completly rebalanced, what the point of opening YET another thread?
  12. WTSherman

I can confirm that other lockons are capable of navigating around terrain. However, the striker does have more agile rockets (they can make tighter turns) that are capable of hitting Harassers and getting through tight spots that would cause other lock-ons to crash, which is quite an advantage. An advantage that other lock-ons should share, so that non-TR players have a way to deal with Harassers too.

Ignoring the OP because he obviously has no idea what he's talking about.

Subtle or not, he has some valid points even though they are overstated, but as also being said in this thread, they are _finally_ adressing the striker in the upcoming patch(es).

Go TR alt until its fixed, I have been doing it alot, mossy flying is alot more fun since less VS/NC people run with lock-ons.
  15. Pat Cleburne

Apparently you haven't faced a ZOE max.

  16. Cougarbrit

Man this **** is more tiring than the NC MAX arguments.

Can you give it a ******* rest till GU14/GU13-2 please, y'know, the one where they plan on changing lock-on mechanics again to a less 'fire and forget' style AA mechanic? One that should severly dampen the effectiveness of lockons in pretty much every scenario, most of all the striker which will have it's effective dps likely cut drastically due to the changes I remember being proposed?

tl;dr This dump needs to learn a little patience.
  17. Takoita

Pretty sure AV MANA turret is worse. And I'm not even gonna mention ZOE.

Was that before or after the extreme exaggerations? I couldn't quite find valid points among the piles of horse ****

  19. DreamlessLiberty

You exaggerate on a lot of points but there is a 61+ page thread on the striker being op you can bump.

Try reading the entire sentence instead of quoting out of context :)
