This would provide an easy way for new players to fight against both air and armour. Since lock ons are easy to use and have a low skill cap, they are a perfect starter weapon for beginners. More skilled and experienced players can use the dumbfire launcher, which is harder to use, or specialize with anti air or anti ground launchers. What do you think?
I think that when they dropped the price of AA lock-ons to 250 certs, that was good enough.. You don't really need a lock-on to hit tanks, as they are usually parked in a circle right outside the base.
Yes but at least when I was starting out I got like 10 certs a play session. Might just be because I sucked though. This also fits better with the general theme that starter weapons should be easy to use, have a low skill cap, and not be specialized.
Increase lock ons to 1000 certs, not ruin the game for vehicle and aircraft pilots. In fact, the default launchers are the best Anti everything weapons in game. They can one hit infantry, deal heavy damage to vehicles, and set ESF's on fire. A default launcher + a burst of LMG fire = dead ESF
Personally I couldn't hit esfs with my s1 when I was just staying out, and I doubt new players would think to shoot their unguided rocket launcher at an enemy fighter jet.Might just have been me though.
I'm pretty sure removing the rocket primary crutch from all new players would be a worse move overall, as much as I'm always in favor if anything that will fill kiddie pools with the tears of skygods. Anyway, anybody's default RPG should be Final Fantasy 6
Well new players just need to learn that there are other ways to fight off ESFs. Dumbfiring ESFs requires some skill. The more experience you get with your S1, the more XP you get
Nobody can, it's why skygods recommend you rely on it instead of something that lacks e-honour like lock-ons, which is why you should always use the G2A lock-on (Nemesis, Hawk, Grounder) as your default HA rocket always With a dumbfire you'll tag an ESF, they'll pop fire suppression and heal 25%, then you've gotta hit them with ANOTHER dumbfire to get the kill. With a lock-on, it's 2+a couple pistol rounds to kill outright. It's functionally identical
AA lock on for HA is extremely cheap. The Annihilator is a really boring weapon to use. Only the worst of the worst of the worst of the worst like bottom .005% of pilots/drivers will ever die to this weapon, from the perspective of both a driver/pilot and Anni user. It only annoys a vehicle. There's no vehicle in the game that can be quickly injured by it except the flash. It's only effective use is in organized squad play, which is not really what most people who can't afford an Anni are up to. I think a better solution would be to put the other Burster in the 100 cert tier and knock the extended mags for it down to 30 certs. Would be much more appealing for more people to cert into a good AA MAX, which is a considerably more reliable AA platform. It's not vulnerable to flares, it's far less vulnerable to LOS obstructions, and it doesn't take 4-7 seconds to start dumping the damage.
No, my default is nemesis. Decimator velocity is to low, thing has too much drop.. Decimator is in my anti-MAX loadout with the AV grenades and grenades bandoleer. Nemesis is 100 m/s, for 1000 damage, 5 rockets. 5000 total damage. Decimator is 60 m/s, for 1330, 4 rockets. 5320 total damage. The extra 320 total damage after dumping all your rockets is not worth having half the velocity and no AA lock-on ability.
dear god the dual burster spam would be immeasurable. No thx. Lots of people hate on flying but hell, it's dangerous up there with all the AA out there. the 250 G2A launchers are enough
At least it would be a clean death instead of spending your entire time flying breaking lock-on LOS like it would be if OP's suggestion worked ^^ I don't think either solution will see the light of day, though.
I actually feel like lock-ons should be made more powerful and flares should be changed to be built-in on ESFs. It's really sad to think about the huge gulf in effectiveness of AA between the ESF and the Liberator. One takes a single lock on and it's gotta book it NOW or else it's going to die instantly to another lock-on and/or innumerable other things, and the other gets hit by a lock-on and then may have to consider moving after getting hit by 6 more. At least on Mattherson we have an ungodly relentless AA meta. Can't even imagine what it's like facing Libs on servers where you've gotta goad people into pull AA. As has been said well, the best default launcher you can pull is the default G2A lock on, unless you're using a tower/biolab loadout
It would be cool if we actually made our characters... As in at first we choose a class. We then get to pick one Main weapon, one off weapon, one pistol, and 1 of each of the kit, suit, ability and w/e options. All this excluding the MAX suit. THe rest would still need to be unlocked and stuff as we lvl up....but yeah...lol.
The annihilator is the only bazooka I don't have. Any heavy weapon that features no dumbfire at all is a terrible idea (looking at you striker) especially to give to new players, frustrations with the lock mechanics, and awful flight behaviour willI have a nemesis for those rare times I can't pull a ext-mag burstermax or a skyguard, otherwise I'll stick to the decimator or lancer, depending on range
