Well people kinda wanted more counter for air and this is the result. Why did it have to be NS Swarm? Think it was the easiest way out. Not saying the weapon was easy to implement but because by borrowing the old Striker mechanics and making it an NS weapon (instead of making 3 esrl) you saved lots of time and resources. As an idea it was a good solution but it's really not what the playerbase hoped for.

I don't understand why did they even think of bringing it since we already have ANNIHILATOR!!!
  4. Liewec123

unfortunately thats why they're pumping out nothing but NS cashgrabs and not faction specific content.
why make 3 when you can make one and sell it to everyone.
its good on paper but its making the game stale,
more faction diversity could be the trick to stopping people from getting bored and leaving.

Designers only need make one weapon model and then re color it black and gold. People who want to let DB know cash grabs like this are OK buy the gold version. BTW I haven't seen anyone using the black hand or archer since a week after release aside from maybe two occasions. I did see a few black and gold versions on day one though.

NS weapons are cheap and easy.

NS weapon (don't know the real numbers just an example):
    • grab a few guys who come up with a nice weapon idea
    • grab 2 coders for creating all the weapon's statistics and making sure it works in-game
    • grab 1 modeler who creates the weapon
    • grab another coder for making all weapon animations and missile animations
    Faction specific weapons:
    • The same as above, but you need 3x the manpower
    • Add some people who will have to think of how to balance these 3 weapons and not cause a ****storm rather than people being happy with new weapons
Anyone see the difference? It already takes a month or so to create a new weapon, if not longer. Making that 3 weapons, each with unique faction-specific mechanics, statistics, abilities etc. Each still powerful and useful enough that players do not complain and making sure one weapon does not trump the others.

but one makes the game bland and boring so people leave, taking their custom elsewhere.
the other keeps people interested, they stick around, spend more money. ;)

A weapon that does what other rocket launchers do. Amazing.

I find pretty odd they are adding another Rocket Launcher when we have for instance only 1 Battle Rifle per army.

But why do we need a lock-on NS launcher that works almost as another NS lock-on launcher?
  10. Demigan

I say stop making new weapons altogether and focus on Meta and real new content. Create a better meta, make sure the LA has more teamplay and less lonewolfing, rebalance the AA game to make it more interesting for all parties.

At least Swarm is not dumb fire + heat seeking for aircraft just like the new Striker :p.

I think the new Striker still has potential and I really like the idea behind it. It's good at quickly scaring away aircraft that likes to hover over the spawn point, for example. Without lock-on you can launch a volley of seeking rockets at them before they have time to react. But it rarely leads to a kill unless you have another HA with you firing. Although this kinda is a TR thing, strength in unity.

Like Higby said in the PS2 faction trailer: "A lot of their weapon systems require more players to operate them."

It must be really stressful for devs to see that people don't really like the weapons they're releasing but I have to agree that the NS Swarm wasn't really something this game needed.

    "Let's create faction specific weapons"

The message of the comic is an oxymoron; today's empire specific TR gear is tomorrow's NS equipment.
The Swarm and the upcoming ES AV weapons illustrate the problem perfectly."The Striker is OP. The Vulcan is OP. So let's give them to VS and NC as even more powerful versions!"

As a TR, I don't WANT more empire specific gear added to the game because most TR ES stuff is weak, uninspired and generic. But if it's even a little good, it will be ported to NS or VS/NC in an improved form eventually. More empire specific gear is just more stuff VS and NC get while TR gets shafted.

It would be in TR's best interest to convince them to stop making ES weapons.
Actually, since they're making NS weapons from old TR gear, it's in TR's best interest for them to stop making NS weapons too.

It's NS .. Which means more people are likely to buy it with $ for the account unlock , and with it's new mechanic compared to the Anni it offers something different to those who already have that, and thus tempts them to the purchase ...

Tis a business, and they need to make money .. So this isn't the first nor will it be the last item added that isn't needed from a gameplay stand point.
  15. Ryo313

sure its a "cheap" way to get money but by making the swarm they have to take a huge risk into account as well...
they are taking a TR trait and giving it to everyone and as TR player this is an insult towards the TR and their playerbase.

as for me i'm not spending money on it and i hope my fellow TR players think the same way. don't let DBG spit you in the face!

imo NS weapons should be neutral and not sharing any Empire traits because everyone can buy / unlock those weapons...

bye faction diversity and TR traits.
so whats next? NS Lancer and NS Phoenix?

sry i'm just mad and tired of that crap thats currently going on with DBG.

DBG we figured out how this bullsh*t works. It took us 3 NS weapons in a row to do it but nobody's spending real money on this one if we have anything to say about it!

You won't. They'll just ban your forum account :D

The sad thing is that it's pretty much true.

There are 3 viable anti air RLs per faction already. We don't need more AA RLs, and we certainly don't need more NS weapons. Faction specific stuff would be the way to go...
