Hey guys, im searching for a good option in my suit slot for my engineer, currently im running with Flak armor (prevents me from grenades and AP mines) and i also certed in adv. shield capacitator a few days ago. The problem i got with the adv. shield thingie is that i always somehow run into those damn mines and die, that's so damn annoying. I want some opionions from you guys what you like the most and what suit slot you can prefer me Thanks in advance !
I use flak almost all the time when I move from hex to another and when I´m attacking/defending a base I´ll use friendly sundy or console to switch to advanced shield capacitor. Of course if there are many tanks around, then I´ll keep the flak.
If you play VS read the following. Everyone else please use Nano or Shield Capacitor. I don't want to lose kills from my Ap mines. _________________________________________________________________________________ I only run Flak. Maxed it out. Yesterday I hit a Bouncing Betty mine that was 3 feet from a 2nd one. (I was about 6 feet from the 2nd one)I saw them a tad too late. They both popped. I lived with 1 bar of health left. When i hit just one i loose my shield and 1 bar of health so as soon as my shield is back there is no lose at all. This saves me all the time. Nanoweave would save me on those rare simultaneous kills. I think Flak is much more useful.
My opinion: Be a giver, not a taker. Forget all about all the defensive suit-slots. Get grenade-bandolier max level on all classes (exept medic). Ok max-level is expensive so it can wait awhile but first lvl cost 100 (+ cost of class-grenade upgrade).
The problem as said is that the second i take flak armor off i run into tons of mines, i once runned with adv. shield capacitator and i runned in 3! mines in a row, then i changed to flak and didn't runned in even one LOL! NW also prevents you from mines at a certain high lvl , and no im TR . I think the bouncing betty and prox mines need a nerf, it happend so often that i saw a mine but it was to late and i coulnd't stop, 2 m radius is still huge. It's not about the certs, i got around 1,5k atm because i don't know what to spend on, but im so damn bad at throwing grenades tbh lol, often i just forget to use them even that i find them useful, and when i use them i never get kills/ or even hit sth.
As an Engineer i repair a lot. Mostly the important things unter Fire. There will bei Flak your best solution. I max it. It is expensive, but you stay while the other go down. Mostly you stay and the mossi hast to reload. What brings you mostly down? Tankshells and Lolpods, sometimes Mines, but you can see them. If you do not see them, then it is nice have Flak. On my LA i use Nanoweave, but there i have mostly problems with the guys with guns. The shield i never considered, because i will mostly fight to end. The shield is maybe something for snipers? Aua - Aua, then hiding and regenerate? Under fire it does not regenerate, as Engy near to the Sunderer, the Sunderer will go down if i not repair it so i can not take a break. So it is my Job to stay. I will die, but a bit later. Maybe a Medic respawns or a Mate make the way to me.
lol, wake up! there are some lights on it. how will you nerf them more? Me makes a joke that they had forgotten the audiosignal for the mines. But maybe there should also stay signs with "Beware of Mines" in 3m Radius around the mines. With Nanoweave 5 (max) you can survive a mine with 1-2 Lines left.
Here is what I use and when by class: Medic: Flak - for large group base assaults when doing a lot of rezzing/healing for grenade/HE spam. Shield Capacitor - for soloing & small unit engagements since you can duck behind cover heal and regen shields quickly. Engineer: Flak - for large base assaults when repairing MAXes, vehicles and turrets where grenade and HE spam often occurs. Nanoweave - for small unit engagements Utility Belt - extra C4 LA: Grenade Bandoleer - having more than one Flash Grenade is boss HA: Nanoweave - for small unit engagements Flak - anti-aircraft duty, large scale battles with grenade/HE spam Rocket pouch - long range AV duty with a lock-on launcher Infiltrator: Ammo belt - for sniping, nothing worse than running out of ammo after getting into a good position behind your enemies. Flak/nanoweave - SMG Inf around bases Shield Cap - solo infiltrating bases MAX: Flak - AA duty/large scale base battles with engy support Kinetic - smaller unit engagements with engy support Nano regen - when soloing
@ DiveXx Do you have sticky grenades? They are awsome and much more predictable than regular ones. Super for killing MAXes Of course i dont mean get grenade bandolier if you only have regular grenades, but i really recommend you upgrade the grenade slot on all classes and switch out the regular grenade. You can really base your playstyle around the different grenades when you carry 3 of them. My opinion: Defensive suits-slots -> yes good in appropriate situations, but ultimatetely just a minor help in overall play. Max Grenade bandolier -> carry 3 class-specific grenades every single time you spawn or ressupply. So much fun.
Looks like good setups, gonna try some of them I LOVE the sticky grenades, they are so good to take maxes out , gonna try the grenade bandolier today
The specialized grenades are much better than the stock ones in most situations. I read somewhere that the sticky grenade bypasses Flak armor if you get a direct hit with it, and it doesn't bounce around like the stock grenade, so with practice you can better place the explosion. Flash and Concussion grenades are great when breaching a room full of enemies, although the Concussion grenade does take a bit of practice to get used to so you don't hit your self with it.
You are correct, but just to add that all explosives bypass flak on a direct hit. Of cause with regular grenades that's quite difficult to achieve, unlike with stickies As to suit slot I personally run nano; it gives me an edge in a fire fight, lets me survive an AP mine and best of all, it lets me troll snipers
