Uhhhhhhhhh So it would be back to its old self...... Except even worse? When it was already a bad annihilator? ..........or am I missing something within your suggestion???
I think I'll never use it for anything but a Flare Gun... I missed out on the one that can actually do more Dmg than a Striker Rocket.
Even after this changes the problem of the Striker wont be fixed: AA mechanic while still only viable against slow moving or close targets. You wont reliable hit moving ESF with it as long as they arent hovering right above the base. If they want to keep the AA mechanic they need to make it possible to hit ESF with it. Otherwise they should just change it into a high DPM RL with AV mechanic and scrap this dumb idea of a low-velocity dumbfire AA launcher (yes 170m/s is a pretty low velocity against aircraft, no matter how much slower the other RL are).
Maybe, why not give it the lock-on capability so it's actually usable? Then up the damage so it deals roughly 1,200 for a full mag. Good counter to air and it would let us at least defend ourselves against tanks. Inbefore "TR can't have something that does damage!"
Finally got around to testing the AV TTK of the Striker compared to other launchers. Test was done by recording footage of myself firing at the front armor of a Vanguard from 15m away, timed from when the first rocket is launched to when the kill notification first appears. ML-7: 42.63s Deci: 37.83s Striker: 37.97s So it's pretty much in the ballpark of the Deci in terms of AV damage output, but with much more exposure time.
No...so many people hate the lock on mechanic. I always wanted a toss up between either the Original striker, where I could lock on to ANYTHING including turrets, and what it is now. I don't want another "same 'ole same 'ole" lock on rocket launcher. I wanted something unique. I wouldn't mind seeing the coyote mechanic added on for ground vehicles, but I would have to test that out. I don't want our weapons to become "OP" in the eyes of everyone else. As it is right now, if they were to make this weapon a pure lock on, they would have to increase the damage per rocket to adjust for the possibility of Flares/lock on timers/etc. and it will pretty much be back to being crap like it was before and everyone whining about it. Now, it has a unique flare to it and it fills a hole nicely. However, as I've stated in other posts, the best way to adjust it is to bring in the COF bloom. Give us decent accuracy with all 6 rounds instead of the first 4 being really good and the last 2 flying off 5 feet in either direction.
I agree that heatseeking all vehicles would be fun and interesting. I don't think it totaling about 1,200 damage per reload would be a huge deal either. It's fairly unlikely someone will land all the rockets in a timely fashion.
And this is why the Striker fails... you can play peek-a-boo with a Deci, get the high alpha damage with less risk of being killed. And lets not forget allot of the TTK time with the dumb fire launchers is reload tmle since there single shot. In a perfect world for me the Striker would have a 6 round mag with a 3 round tight CoF burst Dumb Fire. It would still need some velocity adjustment up and the resists changed to get back some of 30% damage loss.
i personally really love the new striker at its current state on test , i was running around on indar following ESF duelers for giggles and i was pleased with its performance against them , considering you can be toe to toe with one and actualy win ( can be done with ml7 but for sake of comparison to before ) , unless they can aim then its kinda harder. On upside the striker DOES NOT fail as much in AA its actualy really fun , but i didnt get to test it on ground vehicles so i cant say much about that :C
