lol? You do realise ghost capping happens in exactly the same way on lattice?
  2. skyN3T

My 2 cents on this thread is this.

Its all about Personal Battle Experience (PBE) and the Indar Factor (IF) (for science!)

PBE: the way you see the game to sum it up. OP sees the game RTS FIRST, FPS SECOND. most of us see the game as FPS (Planetsided version Big Bas Battelz known as BBB) FIRST, RTS SECOND.
IF: the vegetable is only implemented on Indar yet, so we have little experience how a Low Populated Lettuce (LPL) will work. it can be speculated though.
BBB: the thing we love planetside for, mostly turning into a lag fest to low-mid end platforms depending on local+continent population.
LPL: It is the merry-go-round (complex graph) changed and semi-streightened into a lesser, more simplified graph (for science!).

I have not read all the posts, gave up on page 6 or so, sorry i felt you guys keep repeating yourself , all in all and to keep this conversation short, wait for esamir / amerish lettuced, give it a try or two, and if you STILL hate it leave only then.

lattice sucks, only zergs like lattice

I cant wait for all yall to be in a real war and come to find out that the enemy will not always come the way you expect or that you cant see outside of some lines someone has given you to attack an objective.

Don't like "wack a mole" defend your base
Don't like all yo stuff being hacked? Defend your base
Don't like to think about how to really attack, keep this "better system". I can understand hard wiring things to prevent the enemy from tapping into a wireless system but guess what? If you don't defend your line and the enemy cant cut it off you are f'ed.
What we have are tunnels to fight in. It does help to know where the fighting is but they are dumbing it down in my eyes.

I think they should have two different servers. One with an upgraded hex system and another for the system they are trying to make work. There are pros and cons to both systems but there is a split that want an open world to wage war in and another world where your lines of attack are drawn for them. Why not give both?

The only reason I play in Indar is because I made a choice that that map is my home and NC is my side. Ive now played both systems and don't like the restrictions.
  5. Eaderout

The Hex system needs to be better that is for sure.

Avoiding fighting does suck but so dose leaving your bases undefended. If you leave it undefended you are asking for it to be mess with. "But standing around waiting to be attacked is boring and sucks". Sure does but if you joined a unit and did sweeps of bases every now and then that would subdue people taking it over, destroy terminals so they can be effective. Most times when I log in Ill jump in a flash and drive to the fight (as to killing myself at the warp game to redeploy at another location). If I come across something I try to fix it (gen blown, terminals taken over, etc). then I go to war.
If you checked the map from time to time to see if someone has broken your lines and attacked behind them (Seen time and time again in history), got some of your team members to take care of it it would not be an issue.

O and a bet when an alert happens you don't, most of the time, stick around the location you are at and keep fighting? Got to go and get those big-Ol points eh?

You could always check out a few books, FM 7-8, SH 21-76, ST31-180 for a start.

i like these threads its like ghostcappers vs others

the restrictions you see are just where to attack next. the HOW is a different story and there are many ways to screw with the enemy's frontline. you dont have to follow the path of the beam to complete an objective. you can go around it with a squad and start messing them up in various ways. you can even go to the next base over where they pull reinforcements from and run a spec ops mission. blow up their terms, turrets, mine the road, set up ambushes, etc. its all up to you. you just dont choose to do it.
  8. Jestunhi

Guess what? This isn't a real war.

If you think enough people want the ghost-capping hex system then why not try to get something like a kickstarter project going to show that ghostcappers are willing to contribute enough to have a whole new server. Is ee no reason to waste dev time or funding to it unless it is proven to be worthwhile.

In the meantime the rest of us can play a game much improved by the hex system.
  9. skyN3T

    Once again.
  10. Cab00se187

    they have Games for that
Ok, go play on your empty hex continent and do that

It's an FPS, not an MMORPG
  11. Katana

My favourite part is where people claim this game took tactics before lattice.

    I love that bit.

You want tactics? Play PS1. Or this, with lattice, granted, it doesn't let you ghost cap, but if cat and mouse ghost capping are your tactics... Maybe start up your own BF3 server, lock it, all join the same side and cap the points as quickly as you can with no resistance?
  12. November

You just explained a situation that can happen in both systems.

You win a cookie and fail at proving that hex is better.

Lattice is better because it promotes actual combat. You know - the thing this game is about. I don't want to take a base, then take the next base - then go back to the first base and retake it, then back to the 2nd base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it, then back to the second base and retake it, then back to the first base and retake it.

Saying "If we don't implement these severe restrictions on everyone's behavior at all times, the terrorists will get us when we're not looking!" is fine for real life, not video games.

The Lattice system is half of a good idea. The only real issue I've seen is when there's a 48+ vs a 48+. In that case it becomes a stalemate of constant entrenched ground warfare as there's no sort of attrition or ability to cut off the enemy territory. Look at the southeastern warpgate on Indar; each of those stems can only be capped from one end so there's no real way to end that punch-in-the-face contest.

We need to have bases have a general nanite pool like I hear PS1 did. Each base has a max capacity and generates at a certain rate. If killing the enemy troops and vehicles drained that, it would actually be able to push an enemy back. Having a Sunderer cert to carry the nanites between bases would then give the non-combat loving people something else to do besides ghost capping and the like, and small squads could do raids/escort those convoys if they didn't want to do huge-scale fighting.

Lattice does NOT force you to attack down corridors, btw. Though it does trick a lot of people into doing that. Taking a Harasser and looping through enemy territory to come at the back of the front is very effective. I've also had a case where five enterprising NC fighters were patrolling deep in our territory and killing any aircraft moving towards the front (mine included). If the enemy can't pull tanks at the point you're attacking, doing something similar with a squad to ambush armor reinforcements is also effective.

The thing I find crazy is, theres no need for strategy or tactics in a game that has no win state. Like strategy for what? There is no objective. It really doesnt matter if you capture bases or not. You do not lose for not capturing bases, there is no "lose". The whole game is just an XP grinder. So I really dont understand these complaints.
  16. CNR4806

    Wall of capslock, didn't read.

    For what's NOT in capslock:
    1. No it isn't a joke. It shows how people fail to use their head and then place all blame on lattice.

    2. There is of course not much problem capping the airfield in Wake Island when you're spawncamped at the USS Essex, because frankly the map is small and everyone can rush back rather easily once enemy activity is reported.

... which is already ridiculous enough in the sense that bases are not suppoed to be undefened. Real life bases won't let you just walk in and take it, there's something called guards.

Wait, you aren't seriously telling PS2 players to stop fighting on the frontline and camp Old Auraxian Mine, stare at the sky for 10 hours a day to prevent something that's not supposed to happen, right?

  18. St0mpy

ok, 1 harasser vs an enemy zerg with spawn points, im sure you make a huge impact.
  19. ZEPLN

If you're in that harasser and you thought it was a good idea to attack that zerg... you deserve to get blown up. If you have the skill to survive behind enemy lines, enjoy your farm. The lattice system directs zerg forces and the flow of battle. The lattice system DOES NOT fix stupid, nor should it.

One harasser was never intended to turn the tide of battle. Winning engagements should be a collective faction effort, which the lattice system so effectively encourages now.
  20. NccWarp9

Wast majority of people are idiots that dont know better.
SOE is turning once majestic game into something so ordinary, mundane.
Imagine if this game was divided into series of maps instead of one big map. Lets say the size of biolab. Would you still play it ? The graphics are not that great, the performance issues are stagering, etc. Or just turn around and play BF3 or something like it.

SOE is trying to reduce this game to the lowest common denominator instead of keeping it hard. It takes more than one platoon to take the continent and it takes coordination to do so. Now, ifs a clusterfock.
You will have the same number of players, more dedicated players. What lettuce dues is it kills new players. I know I farm for certs on Indar and then go play on other continents.
