still online after 3 days of stat padding

IMO, if you see somebody cheating, being a "botter" stat-padding or a "script kiddie" mowing down everything in sight, then follow the procedure and /report...if you see the same player two days later doing the same thing still, then obviously somebody isn't doing their job.

At that point, you need to let the next level of management know you don't appreciate this slackness...and send Smed a e-mail.

I would be happy just seeing the old "System wide" announcements that a GM was around again...that used to work pretty good at dissuading the "funny stuff"...but I think those were the guys that got let go a few months ago, as I haven't seen any announcements in quite some time.

Rather then posting here about it, you might have better luck directly inquiring to Smed on Reddit...or tweet @j_smedley or mail him at jsmedley@soe.sony.com. Tell him how you feel.

Smed said previously he was going to "get" these hackers...can't hurt to remind him.

If you feel there is a "script kiddie" problem present in PS2, the BEST way to get action is to "go to the top" via extremely public posts...Reddit, Twitter, Facebook...be polite, but firm in your expectation of a "level playing field" and demand results, not a inconclusive /report in-game function that is apparently meaningless.

IMO, every server should have a GM "spectating" 24/7...at the very least...or a "probability script" that picks up excessively abnormal gameplay and instantly locks the account pending GM review.

Until enough people complain to the Right Person (Smed), nothing is going to change.

Take care if it, is not saying it's banable.

I would love to know what they do about it. I would also love to know where they draw the line. Using this method is extreme, granted. But what about the famous stat padders, like a certain player on miller, the jumps out of esf as light assault to avoid deaths, that is still most deffinately padding, like killing from the spawn room. What's actionable, what's not?

why would a new player buy a boost or pay subscription if they know they can earn certs this way and aparently not banned?

Because, if nothing else, they're taking up slots on the server that could be filled by actual players who want to play the game properly. Think of that the next time you're sitting in a queue.

He probably has the highest KD in the game. All you scrubs will never get to his level of skill.
    Mad cuz bad.;)

EDIT: Is the Robin video still up on youtube? I just can't seem to find it.

What's with Miller and statpadders anyway?o_O

What I'm curious to know is if these ones with the weird names are just for testing purposes so they can bot grind certs and sell the accounts? I know they're capped at 10k but starting off with 10k is a pretty big difference to starting with zero. It still wouldn't have any effect on the rest of us but I don't like the idea of it either.

    Beautiful.

I guess he moved on to statpad VS instead. That wont save him...

i dont consider stat padding cheating , if they want to spend they time sitting there and doing the same repetitive thing over and over again its they business , it does not hurt me in any way

against the rules or not, to me that is irrelevant ... when making a decision whats right and wrong why go with the rules, why not what feels right or wrong ?! the rules are there for SOE so they can control what we do , for us its a guideline

in my book if it does not hurt anyone i dont care what others do ... its not like the server will fill up and they take up space

as far as statistics goes , i would ban such people from public stats for life ... i personally could not care less about stats, but that is the only slight damage they doing ... now if you ban a stat padder they just come back and do it over again, so just set they stats to private < problem solved
  11. siiix

and as i can tell some of you have great fun hunting them down ... in fact they seem to be beneficial after all ;)
  12. Mut0mb0

    keep up the good work!

btw. ppl wont get banned for it, i know someone who tried this with the snowball cannon and just got a 3 day "timeout". :/

Who cares? Takes 5 sec to see that the stats of this guy are fake. Good stats achieved with cheating or exploiting are worthless, this guy is wasting his time.
  14. FieldMarshall

I dont think its the stats/kills that they are padding for. Its the certs obviously...

It doesent really affect anyone, until you put it in perspective.
What if everyone except you suddenly unlocked every single cert in the game because of unlimited cert gain, like this guy chain-revive padding ~4000 certs while sleeping.

    Suddenly its not so irrelevant.
Or maybe it still is. Depends if you care that all your enemies would have every unlock in the game or not.
Not really a problem though, unless it becomes more common and acceptable.
  15. JudgeNu

Probably.....good thing Certs are not tradable...as we 'd have Cert spammers in chat...
I dislike people who do such things.
I will put salt in their game if I can.

The real issue is if it's done with bots or manually, that's probably all that SOE check for. If it's manual, so what, it's boring as ****, leave em to it.

If it's bottling then ban em.
  17. zaspacer

As stated, if SOE does not crack down on bots then their numbers will grow. This in turn can become an epidemic as it has in many other games.

Borusa was communicating about bots and how they can become game warping infestations (as in large numbers of players doing it, or even all players doing it) if left unchecked.

And some people want gameplay? That must be the most boring thing to take part in, EVER!
  19. NinjaTurtle

If someone is bored and lonely enough that this is what they want to do with their spare time then all I fell for them is pity.

They need a girlfriend.... even just a friend would help
  20. Phaze

What it does expose is how weak SOE's "tools" to identify and deal with cheating are...

This is the type of thing it should take a CSR about 2 minutes to research and ban. If this isn't sending up the highest level of flags, I don't know what is....

So the conclusion is that the support organization is badly understaffed... or, the overall process is a mess/broken.... or their is just massive and rampant cheating that something like this isn't prioritized.

No matter how you slice it, it doesn't look good for SOE.
